(Dental School Application TMDSAS) I have two prerequisite courses finishing on July 3rd (summer term) that will boost my GPA. Should I submit my dental school application early with my current GPA (mid-low range) or wait until the courses are complete and my GPA is higher?

1) Focus on doing well on Casper.
2) This is why you pre-write.

Wait what does prewriting have to do with this?

I’m not worried about not sending in secondaries— my question is actually the exact opposite— I didn’t want my apps to be considered poorly if I turn In my secondaries on time but don’t get my Casper in until later lol

Gotcha. As an OOS applicant I got the email saying that my application has been transmitted to all of my schools (UTSW, Baylor, McGovern, Long) 8 days ago. Any ideas on what the turnaround time is from application transmission to secondaries received?

I heard back from some schools the same week, and have yet to hear back from most schools if that provides any assurance (I applied the 15th)

If you are worried about time management to get all your tasks done on time, knowing what to expect or making some preliminary efforts to prioritize which secondaries to approach first helps address your concern about submitting your secondaries and getting your Casper scores to the admissions desks on your intended schedule.

Awesome, thank you! Just have a few more edits to make before I can submit. Do you know if reapplicants have to rewrite all essays again? Or can we change some and use some from before?

You should rewrite or at least reword your 3 major essays. As someone put it, "Those essays didn't seem to work for you last time."
I doubt they will care about the activity descriptions, but your views on which are most meaningful might have changed.
You will be writing a short answer response when you say you are a reapplicant, use it to point out what's improved since last year

Makes sense. I rewrote my PS and diversity essays, but thinking of keeping the optional essay same. I loved it so much I know it didn’t work, but at the same time I don’t know what else to write about. I was advised not to use it as a space to justify a few C’s and keep it non-medical, so that’s what I did last year. Do you think it would be a red flag if I were to keep that one same?

Also, yes I changed one of my most meaningfuls but most of the activity descriptions are the same because there’s not enough characters to make significant edits. I did also write the short reapp “essay”

It will be "stickied" under the Premed forum along with similar threads about AMCAS and AMCAS app questions.
You can keep asking questions here or in the 2024-2025 thread.

The new school-specific threads should pop up next week, but remember I only find out the new secondary prompts for each year when someone has received them directly from a school and shares them with us on SDN. I don't have an inside source to get them all at once.

Y'all: when you share the prompts, please be complete and copy them exactly. Don't just say "same as last year" because there may be slight changes in wording and we want to pass on ACCURATE information. Thanks!
