Foxy,
I interviewed in early January and soon after received a hold letter. I have been following these FL threads anxiously, hoping to learn some interesting information. I heard that their class would be filled by the end of March or early April so I've been extra eager to ambush the mailman.
Anyway, I went out of town last week and heard that a few more people had gotten in. Dude, it was killing me to think that my acceptance/waitlist/rejection letter might be sitting in my mailbox while I was away. I asked my brother to run by my apartment to check for me. When I excitedly called to find out if anything from UF had come, he told me that he didn't see anything and left my mail on the kitchen counter. Damn! My attitude was sour as I made my way back home, and I just knew that I was now in the UF waitlist purgatory. "Time for plan B", I thought.
Well, I walked in the front door, nervously glanced at the counter and my heart sank. Only a couple of magazines and some bills. Nothing big or exciting. No colorful package proclaiming my acceptance. My brother was right.
I didn't have the heart to thouroughly sift through the stack, so I unpacked my car and started to clean up my place. Eventually, I got hungry so I started to make some dinner. I looked at the mail again and decided to go ahead and accept my fate.
But wait. . . There was an unusually thin envelope sitting there! And it said UF on it!! A rejection so soon?!? Hell no!!! A freakin' acceptance on a single sheet of paper. Man, I was shakin so much I couldn't even read the whole thing.
As soon as my interview was over in January, I just knew that I had bombed. It was my first one and I was so nervous. Definitely my worst performance of all. But, I think that's what makes this so exciting. I just didn't expect it.
I know that I may be seem a bit over dramatic here, but I had to share the good news. We all are working so damn hard to get through this obstacle course, and it's nice when we can finally see the finish line. Although I'm not a dedicated poster, I do appreciate all of the great advice and info that you and everyone else provide. Thanks for letting me tell my story. Foxy, I hope you too hear some good news soon. With six interviews you have numbers on your side. Good luck, girl!
