Oklahoma C/O 2025 Hopefuls

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Fingers crossed for y’all for whenever it comes!!! I still remember exactly where I was when I got accepted 4 years later! It’s one of the happiest days of my life, only matched by the day I found out that passed NAVLE. Good luck, y’all!

Positive thoughts! It only takes one yes! Fingers crossed for you!!!
Thank you so much, I genuinely applied this cycle knowing that I wasn't very competitive. I did it for the experience, feed back, and personal growth. I feel I got all of those and for that I am happy. I would love to be accepted this cycle, but keep telling myself that I knew it wasn't likely in the beginning, and it is still okay now. I've gotten myself all excited, so I know I'm gonna be bummed if I don't get in, but I really do believe that whatever happens is for a reason either way. Everyone here is so supportive, it is so appreciated ❤️

I’m starting to think today isn’t the day. But I think they sent out emails around 6:30 Friday so maybe around then?

OOS alternate. These alternate status emails are looking eerily similar to each other 😂 I've read "we are pleased to inform you that "your records compare favorably with those of students being offered admission" a couple times already 😂

It’s the “your records compare favorably with those of students being offered admission,” for me 😂

My mom says that means I’m special. I was like mom, I think the send everyone the same email

Congrats to those accepted!! Be patient for those on alternate status. As mentioned, historically there is a lot of movement. To those not taken in, take heart and keep growing as a person as life has tons of paths to take! <3

Congrats to all those accepted!

Now I’m gonna need y’all who go here to stay on SDN bc I’m too old and I need to pass the torch!
Yeah, so much has changed even since I graduated.

To current Oklahoma vet students, how is Oklahoma handling COVID? Are lectures online & labs in person?

OOS Acceptance! Are there any current students I can ask a few questions??

Anyone have an idea of historically how much their waitlist moves?

Like 10 posts up Lupin said it historically moves a lot. But I also wouldn’t necessarily expect a lot of movement until after the April 15(or whatever it is) decision deadline.

Are there any current students that can give a little information about the school? I watched the virtual tour but I’d like to hear from some students on how they feel about the classes/environment in general.

Does anyone know chances of getting in if you have an interview? I’ve really been stressing lately and just want to go into my interview realistically with my chances.

Historically it is pretty good. I don't have numbers. A good number will get put on waitlist if you're on the bubble, then your last set of grades can put you over the top. Just concentrate on being you and don't worry about numbers is my advice. Doesn't do anyone any good to nitpick at stuff like that.

And most of the interview was behavioral based. They did ask me questions about my application including my prior career, my personal statement, and my experiences. Just be confident in yourself and you'll be in good shape.

I loved my time in Stillwater. It is a pretty town and good people. I loved the clinicians and felt like I received an excellent education. The rest really doesn't matter guys. You will be good vets no matter where you go if you apply yourself. These decisions should be based on finances, proximity to family, and your goals in the end.

I went to OKState because I had family close by, the tuition was great when I moved to work for a year to gain in state, and because I knew they produced ready to practice vets as I knew GP was my goal. I originally wanted to do mixed animal, but as an older student, I recognized that wasn't feasible as my pay would be less and my body already has some wear and tear. Loved my food animal and equine rotations though. We also have two of the greatest for exotics whom I miss and still consult on cases regularly.

They also have a great NAVLE pass rate, so that is also a bonus. haha

I know they recently increased the class size but what was it before?

I also encourage all of you to learn how to research and find answers with reliable resources. We are scientists also. You guys are doing great by asking questions, but don't be afraid to look for answers on your own from available resources as well. Can't tell you how valuable that skill is in this profession and for life in general. haha

I could find the recent class size I was just wondering what it was before they changed it cause I couldn’t find that. Even the article I found explaining the change didn’t even give numbers lol
