Holy crap, I totally did not think OOS applicants would be getting replies for at least another month . . . going to go refresh my email inbox repeatedly until I get news. :xf:

Thanks! Not trying to freak anybody out..just wanted to verify since notifications aren't supposed to go out til Feb. I'm pretty sure I got an acceptance email..but maybe not? LoL

I wonder if they do phased admissions...

Just had a heart attack seeing one unread message in my inbox . . . then realized it was a document I had emailed to myself not even 30 seconds ago. D'oh!

Definitely time to walk away from the computer. :laugh:

I just spoke to Admissions office, and it's real! It's an early acceptance decision because they just want to encourage accepted applicants to visit and make decisions earlier. Never heard of this before, but COOL!!! 😀

I'm not WICHE, but I am OOS. Good luck to everyone! I know this is a terrible, frightening, but amazing experience!

Congratulations!!! That is exciting! you should definitely post is the acceptance thread 🙂 you should visit if you can, it's a wonderful school and town.

hopefully they'll send out more OOS acceptances at a later date...

Sorry to put everyone into a panic...definitely not my intentions. But as anotherbusybee said, it's just an early admissions decision. I'm sure there are plenty more offers to come..best of luck to everyone:luck::xf:!! And seriously..try not to worry (I know it's hard not to 😳)
 
I talked with admissions, they said that they sent offers to WICHE and Californian residents yesterday, so if you're not in those two categories, nothing to worry about yet!

Me too. I'm freaking out. I'm OOS/non-WICHE and didn't get any email yet. Here's to hoping they're sending them out gradually?

Apparently those were just early acceptances for WICHE and California. As far as I know, they haven't started sending decisions to any other non-WICHE applicants yet.

The only time I don't feel like projectile vomiting nowadays is when I'm sleeping or watching Tom Hanks movies. (I grew up watching his movies so he makes me feel so safe and loved now!)

I was waitlisted today too. I'm OOS non-WICHE. I can give you my stats if it helps.

GPA: 3.4
Last 45: 3.4
Science GPA: 3.4
Verbal GRE: 162
Quantitative GRE: 162
Writing GRE: 5
SA (Vet tech and other various experiences): 1500hr
Exotics: 500hr
LA/equine: 500hr
Avian: 500hr
Undergraduate research assistant, zoo experience, equine rehabilitation experience, typical various awards and scholarships, volunteer at animal shelter and an equine therapy center.

Let me know if you have any other questions or if I've left any of my stats out. 🙂 (I've never listed my stats before!)
 
Rejected today. 🙁 Not overly surprised, but still kind of a bummer.
 
🙁 I didnt get an interview invite today... I am freaking out.
 
Wait listed... OOS from California. I am also curious how they work the wait list. Do they tell us our spot on the wait list or just leave us guessing and drowning in our own anxiety? :scared:

I was also waitlisted yesterday (OSS) and emailed admissions today asking for some more info. They told me there are over 100 alternates, but there are no rankings.

Holy horses, that's a lot of alternates. So many that I feel like I might as well take it as a rejection...

And they probably accept a lot more people than their are seats anyways. I don't know what things have been like in years past for Oregon, but it's certainly possible they won't even touch the wait list. I'm assuming I do not have a seat unless told otherwise.
 
This is exactly what they told me in the email:

So maybe not all hope is lost?
 
Hey guys! I know I don't post much but I was offered a place on the alternate list for Oregon!!!!!! I'm out of state..I read through the forms to try and get a better idea of how things move along and wound up just shooting Michelle an email. I copied it below, hopefully it will shed a little more light on the matter...

"To provide you with a bit more information about our alternate process, alternates are not ranked, there are over 100 individuals on the alternate list, but don’t be discouraged by that as many people will have accepted offers elsewhere and we tend to zip through our list when attempting to fill a vacancy. We can have an opening at any time, but most will come around the April 15 deadline as we can not “force” anyone to make a decision earlier. Our class for each year totals 56 seats, 40 are given to Oregon residents and 16 to non-residents. Only if an Oregon space opens do we replace them with an Oregon resident otherwise it is al non-residents. Please let me know if you have additional questions and best of luck!"

Hey! Have any alternates heard back since the April 15th deadline??
 
They are still applying their holistic approach, and said the rankings will be coming out by next week. Source was Michelle Waldron, who I just spoke to in person because she gave a presentation in my pre-vet club today. A couple nuggets: She also said the committee will now be looking at the last 45 units of GPA, and that anyone with a sciGPA lower than 3.0 gets denied.

Rankings? I thought alternates were unranked. Will the alternates finally be given an idea of where they are on the waitlist next week?

Come on guys, I heard it from the horse's mouth. Michelle is the admissions coordinator at OSU. They would try to get the rankings put together by next week and that's all she would say.

Hi everyone! I got an email offering me an OOS spot. I have some other offers and I'm having trouble deciding. I haven't had the opportunity to visit OSU so I'm wondering especially those from OOS that have accepted, what made you choose OSU? Also, are first years and second years encouraged to go to the teaching hospital? Thanks!
