OSU-COM class of 2008

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Unfortunately, I was unable to come to admitted student day, and have only met 3 of my classmates so far.

I only found out about the date a week before, and have a full-time job in a different state, so it was impossible to do.

For some reason I get my mail late sometimes---it seems to be unreliable at times.

Let's keep each other informed about everything on here in case the US postal service doesn't pull through. 😎

Almost everyone that came to admitted student day was told about it and then fitted on the spot.

They didn't have an admitted student day for my class. Last year was the first time. It's for those of you who weren't there, though, as you can even call in your jacket size. 🙂

Wilco.... will definetly let you know....

DrDad

Hmmm...I was at admitted student day...but didn't hear about it. Oh well, guess that means a trip to the Med School in May!

DrCorey, I think you were at my table at lunch at asd. You study music comp, right?

so music and medicine... what is the final product?

serious question....?

I am aviation + Medicine = Aviation Medicine and Family Medicine....

Just wondering

DrDad

I'm public relations + medicine = a well designed tri-fold office visit bill

😀 🙂 👍

ROLLING IN MY SEAT!

Forensic Science + Medicine? Oh well--maybe that fits too well. They even teach both in our building. I really don't see myself doing anything with it, though. I prefer live patients.

In my previous e-mail update to you, I mentioned Saturday, June 5th as the
Admitted Student Day date (in the white coat information section). This is
a date which is being considered, but has not yet been officially
scheduled.

I apologize for the error and will contact you all as soon as we have a
confirmed date.

Thanks!

Yeah, that was me. The music - medicine combo has led me to want to practice laryngology, although after a recent shadowing experience, I'm not sure if I want to do that anymore...sigh. But what about you? Your wife was pregnant, right? Has the baby arrived? If not, when is it due?

we need to think about our next get together.... dates anyone?

We are inducing labor this Thursday (4/22) if it doesn't happen before. Wish us luck.

Awesome! Well, I hope labor goes smoothly, be sure to let us know how it goes!

Hopefully it will be a quick labor..... and Hayes will be born on the 22nd.....!!!!

The weekend of the Accepted Student's Day would make sense. Dr Corey already suggested that weekend, and you can guarantee many will be in town. It is also the next time I will be in town.

A great Idea! How about the dinner be on the 12th of June.... that would be after the ASD either way.....

lets plan it this way....

What kind of food should we go for...do you know any restaurants with big round tables?

The date for the Admitted Student's Day is most likely going to be June 5th, but is not definite. Let's wait until it is before deciding when to meet, since some will only be in town for the one weekend.

I agree we should base it off of ASD, rather, the night of ASD... that way there will be many more people that come to the dinner....

Invite all the non-SDNer's also, but I still think that we SDNers should stick together as far as the seating situation....

I concur, the more the merrier...at least in most situations.

I just joined the forum and wanted to let all the new DO2B's at OSU that I say hello and that if you have any questions or if you just want to drop a line I would love to lend a hand. Enjoy your summer.

I believe the phrase is, how you say...'suck it'.

Don't be like that idiopathic or I will have to crash the boards on you again next time we ball. That's right, who's your daddy? Who's your daddy? Now come over here and give daddy a hug. Come on give daddy a hug! That's better.

Dear Class of 2008,

It's official....the next Admitted Student Day is scheduled for Saturday,
June 5th.

All admitted students are invited to attend with one guest. Approximate
time for the event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the OSU-CHS campus, with
lunch included. Invitations will be sent out in the next few weeks.

Upon suggestion from students who previously attended, we have restructured
the event. June's Admitted Student Day will be less regimented and will
offer a better opportunity for you to meet and interact with your fellow
classmates. Along with providing important information about your
admission and financial aid, we hope to make this a fun and interesting day
for you.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Leah

Hmmm...it occurs to me that I, however, seem to have trouble, once again, with the English language...please insert a "with" after trouble.

Hello to all.

DrDad, count me in for the dinner around the ASD. I'll bring Pete along with me and possibly our kids (if you're bringing yours too). Looking forward to that.

Yeah I'll bring my wife and kids too......

...oh wait....nevermind.....

I'll be the guy coming alone.

😎

I swear to all this holy, if one of you incoming tudents disrupts my board preparation, it is going to be on!!!

(Board exams are th 8th and 9th...why couldnt admitted student day be on the 10th? is that too much to ask?)

More food, I'm there,,,, I'll bring my kids, but just remember, my wife is responsible for them,,,,,hehehehehe....

Is it just me, or doesn't it seem really quiet lately. I know finals are coming up, plus the boards for the MSII's. Good luck to all. Happy studying.

They gave us a take-home final in Chem II (Inorganic) at TCC. I almost fell out of my chair when they announced it. My professor looked at me and said "Do you have a problem with that?". Being the nerd that I am 😱 , I replied, "How unorthodox is that?". FYI, I studied B.S. P.T. in the Philippines and the universities there make your college years a living hell. I've never heard of take home finals. I'm sure we won't get that in DO school. Anyway, he said it's pretty common to do that. Is that true?

Just thought i'd start a conversation to keep us going once again. Are we still planning on dinner the night of the ASD?

X-ray, Hillcrest is having the annual employee picnic that day, too. Which should we go to - ASD and dinner (enjoying the company of our future classmates) OR Hillcrest picnic (in the company of our co-workers)?

This was a novel, wasn't it?

Elaine 🙂

I think we should have an SDN only dinner the night before (Friday) and then we can invite non-SDN people on Saturday night. Or not, whatever is fine. I'll be in town so it's all good.

that is a good idea so far as i am concerned

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I have survived the second semester and..... awww $hit.... no I haven't...

for all of you new guys, I just thought I would sit down and try and scare you a lil'....

MS1's have 9 tests next week (MS2's have a very similar, if not bigger number)

Lets review how much these finals are worth...

MIS- 40% of our overall grade
OMM- 60% of our overall grade
Clinical skills 55%of our overall grade
Neuro (AKA, tha Big B!) 40%/comprehensive.

Enjoy your summer kiddos, it all ends soon!!!!

*que evil laugh right now!!!*

Good luck on finals MS2's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:luck:

ps.... if any of you new people are having a good party sometime this summer, be sure and invite all us lonely MS1's.....

Or if ya need advice, I should be in tulsa much of the summer (barring the first 4 weeks after school lets out, when I will be on my boat down in Margarittaville/Tequilla Port) you can email me at [email protected]!!

As my gift to the class of 2008, I have hired a local death metal band called perianal ulcer to perform in Founders Hall on ASD. 👍

Oh boy, we had our baby... boy Wed. morn at 1:10 a.m. via C-section. Uh, but only after 16 hours of labor and nearly two hours of trying to push naturally. The baby had a pneumothorax (MSII's?) and spent most of his time at the hospital in the NICU. He was treated with high [O2] air, fluids and antibiotics. It resolved itself without the trauma of a chest tube. He made a jailbreak the last night and spent it with us. I'm just glad we all got to go home together.

PM me for the address to some of his pics.
