I have contacted Kristen Consillio and we spoke at length about many issues involving HICP. She is currently writing a story which goes to print on Wednesday and will be out on Friday in the Pacific Business News. Several other students also gave her information and she will be writing a 'broad overview' of what has happened thus far and her editor has given her the ability to write follow up stories. So the article this Friday should include some landmark incidences but not be an exhausting list. Hopefully this article and the follow ups will garner some attention from other local media outlets and possibly some attorneys so that we can all join in a class-action lawsuit and take these criminals down together.

I have just heard that Monroe and Hasan have gotten a restraining order against 3 students. They have accused them of violence and causing riots. P, A, and P thanks for fighting for us. These are all false accusations. I was at the meetings. They have done nothing but try to help all of us. But we have students who believe all the LIES that Monroe and Hasan tell them. Hasan and Monroe want to kick these students out of school because they question everything they say and Monroe and Hasan don't appreciate it. For all you out there that went and told Monroe and Hasan b.s. and kicked out 3 innocent studenst who faught for us, THANK YOU. You have just officially brought a closure to our school. If you chose liars over innocent people than you desereve nothing better than to have them take your money. ENJOY COMMING BACK NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please God Help Us....Anyone out there please help. We need to stop the lies!

I've been off SDN for going on 3 weeks now, and it's amazing how this thread has progressed since I last read it. Let's hope the more widely read and viewed local island media like the Star-Bulletin and local television outlets will pick this up. Any of the local stations over there have a "consumer reporter"? Anyone there care to drop him/her a line regarding this? Those people hurt for good stories like this!

I would think it should be the students getting restraining orders against those two guys

I think this whole situation is on the verge of exploding into public limelight because eventually the local police are going to notice the fist fights and pill bottles crashing through windows

Hello all,
I'm an HICP student (but not for much longer) that's been following the thread for a while, and I've finally decided to post.

Apparently, the restraining order filed by hasan and monroe against the students has triggered a rapid chain of events. Many students have now filed official complaints with the DCCA, or the Deparment of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and many more plan to. There seems to be a clear division in the student body: obviously some students are informing hasan and co. of meetings, and also are apparently supporting them to a point where they feel comfortable making claims that these 3 students were causing "violence" (which has no basis otherwise).

Depending on what the DCCA's investigation turns up, there will be an audit of the school and/or a class action lawsuit filed. Pretty crazy, huh?

On another note, for those of you who don't go to HICP: your concern, information, and advice is appreciated. Comments such as "to the the idiots who are staying..." or "you're stupid if you stay" aren't cool. People's decisions are personal, and I know many good and intelligent people who still have hope for the school. You may disagree, but that is your opinion and there's no need to belittle others.

Right now, we HICP students are facing some of the most difficult times of our lives... Just wanted you guys to understand.

MEMORANDUM

DATE: July 11, 2005

TO: Students of HICP

FROM: Dr. Andrew R. Nixon, Chief Organizational Strategist

RE: Recent Events

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter, for it appears that something that has been built for the benefit of students and the Pharmacy community is being attacked by some who seek personal gain. Let’s look at the allegations that have come to my attention and my response to each:

1. RUMOR: Students were suspended from HICP and a restraining order was sought against them because of a weapons issue. FACT: It is true that a handful of students were suspended from HICP for violations of the Code of Conduct. A request for an order of protection was placed against those students as a standard procedure to provide the remaining HICP students an orderly and harmonious final examination period.
2. RUMOR: Disenchanted suspended students plan to file a complaint with the DCCA in hopes of impeding the growth and success of HICP and its related programs. FACT: We live in a free democracy that allows any student to file a legitimate complaint with the appropriate agency. Complaints must be based upon facts and legitimate grievances which should have first gone through the established internal grievance and complaint process. To date no such grievance has been filed with HICP personnel. We welcome open dialogue of legitimate issues between students and HICP personnel.

If the above rumors have been circulated to students, one must wonder as to the motivation of the person or persons circulating such rumors. Perhaps the person or persons seek financial gain. Perhaps they seek to advance in academic standing if they can convince those above them to leave the institution. Perhaps they have an axe to grind with a particular individual at HICP. But regardless of their motivation, the internal grievance process remains open to any student who has a legitimate complaint or concern. I encourage any student with such a complaint or concern to take it to the proper channels, starting with the Assistant Dean for Student Services.

Distractions at this crucial time of your academic school year can only jeopardize your performance on your exams. Focus all your time this week on the review of material and be successful in the pursuit of your academic goals. Best wishes.

Haha..... Can you believe these people??? Lies after lies. It is not a rumor but a fact! They have received restraining orders against the 3 innocent people and have accused them of carrying weapons. They don’t let us practice our freedom. They threaten us repeatedly and now they want to turn the students against each other. We are not after anything but our rights and our education! No, I don’t want people to leave, so I can gain academic advancement because more than likely, I am amongst the top. They want us to go to them with our concerns and questions only to keep a closer eye on us. If you don’t believe me than Nixon's history will explain it all. Many students have addressed them about their concerns in class, however, they got no response from any of them. There is no hope for the school. Our only hope is for someone outside our school to come and help. ACPE, APHA, Department of Business Commerce, Linda Lingle (Governor of Hawaii), Mayor of Oahu, and all faculty members of pharmacy schools throughout the nation. PLEASE, HELP US!

I know this poster personally and can vouge for his credibility.

I have come across some interesting information today. Monroe, Criswell and Senator Buen were all part of 4 companies in Nevada in which Monroe owned, Criswell was the secretary and Buen did something. Everyone of of these companies was dissolved in February of '05 (one month after we all found out about ACPE telling HICP to 'withdraw' its application). Something really fishy is going on here. Also, Senatory Buen is part owner of Pacific Educational Services.
Can anyone dig up info on the following companies:
Pacific Blue Holdings
Pacific Blue Venture Corporation
Pacific Blue Educational Services
Pacific Blue Mid-Pacific Educational Services

Any information anyone can dig up could really help all of us in future law suits as well as crumbling this "program."

Also, I personally know the 3 students who were kicked out of school today and it is completely ridiculous. These guys didnt do anything wrong and the DCCA has been contacted and we are going to own these piece of crap criminals.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this letter, for it appears that something that has been built for the benefit of students and the Pharmacy community is being attacked by some who seek personal gain. Let’s look at the allegations that have come to my attention and my response to each:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
First of all, "it is with a heavy heart....", this man is pathetic. He has ZERO affiliation or ties with ANY student. He is one of the founders/investors and is only in it for the Financial Gain.
"for it appears that something that has been built for the benefit of students and the Pharmacy community is being attacked by some who seek personal gain."
He is stating that HICP was built to benefit students and the Pharmacy community when he and his associates are THE ONES benefiting from this entire situation called HICP. How has ANY student out of the 240 benefited (GAINED)from being scammed out of $28,000 + not including fees, living expenses, relocation costs, etc.? How has Any student benefited from going through a program for one year and it be ABSOLUTELY and totally meaningless, worthless, and unaccepted at any other Pharmacy program across the country?Well Basically you have all read the thread and know what I am reffering to.
How has a student benefited from what has ocurred to them at HICP? I haven't got my $28,000 worth have you? What did I buy for $28,000? Nothing. Can you see it, hold it , wear it, show it, use it? No, NO, NO, NO and NO!!!!
I know what I got for $28,000 +. I bought a huge debt, family problems, stress, mental anguish, lack of sleep and a verge of a nervous breakdown.
Now on the other hand Nixon, Criswell, Monroe, Hasan, etc. have collected all of our tuition, have a nice retirment savings put aside, and are living lavishly, enjoying themselves, traveling, etc. all at yours and my expense. So who benefits here? The theif (owners/founders/leaders) or the victim?
Now, "the pharmacy community is being attacked"? Holy, moly, this guy lives on Mars.
The pharmacy community is being sheilded and protected by the students voicing the truth of the corrupt and unethical behavior that HICP has been practicing.
Have you even spoken to any of the Pharmacists in the Hawaii community? Many could care less about HICP. How about pharmacist across the country or in organizations such as AACP, APhA, NABP? NO ONE speaks well about HICP, and don't get me started on pharmacy Academia.

As far as the "Rumors" or allegations was Hasan, Monroe and whoever invented these allegations physically there to see and here what happened? NO Now if they didn't see the students or hear them, then how can there be any fact to their allegations? If a student made these allegations then shouldn't it be the student to file the report and his/her name should be on there as a primary source/witness,etc.?
Now how did this student who created or witnessed "weapons" or whatever these allegations are, was the only person out of Many? And this same person told Hasan and Monroe, and no one else?
How is hanging out at a friends house with classmates affect taking final exams at School? How does a group of friends talking about their personal and social problems at a friends house, (such as school, if that's what their life is) causing a disruption to the remainder 200+ students?
And how was the code of conduct violated if you can say whatever you want on whichever issue you wish to, amongst friends at a friends house?

Also, CODE OF CONDUCT? These people such as HASAN and Monroe behave as thugs, are vulgar, unethical, dishonest, manipulators, immoral, liars, and they have the nerve to want students to abide by a code of conduct that they didn't even create or practiceShouldn't they be the ones conducting themselves in a certain manner? Professional maybe? Ethical? HOnest? Trustworthy, etc.?
Isn't this a Pharmacy School? Or maybe Not!

This guy is a complete joke. This guy claims to receive his PhD in biophysics from Columbia Pacific University but the court ordered this "college" to close its doors and refund the students.

Columbia Pacific University

He also claims to have graduated from usc dental school...at least he didnt claim to have graduated from usc pharmacy.

Try looking for Pacific Blue University as well. 😉

Also, what rumors was Nixon (Ironic name, huh?) trying to fix? It seems as if he confirmed the rumors.

yeah, nixon basically tried to re-word the rumors so that they seem like good guys, and had reason to expel the students for theif "code of conduct violations"......

stylized interpretation of memorandum

HEy guys I'm like really feeling your pain. Theres been this nasty rumor that we had the gall to expel 3 students. Well its just a nasty rumor but yesterday we expelled three students because they are violent thugs. See how false these rumors can be!

Theres been this other even nastier rumor that you guys are filing complaints against us. You know, its so unture. You guys really need to stop filing complaints against us btw. Its freaking us out.

you totally like dont have to be afraid of having an oprah style discussion with the HIPC faculty. even though we just expelled three students. Lets sit around, sort of have a round table discussion going.....I'm sure the best people to solve your problems are the people causing your problems.

Well, I hope you realize that letting us rifle through your pocketbook wantonly is in our best interests. Please stop thinking about things because it is not in our best interests for you to do so.

It looks like Diep is another HICP English major. Also, that last line about the hearing, it sure looks as if they operate a little different than US Courts. In the court, you are innocent until proven guilty. Apparently at HICP, you are guilty until proven innocent. That is a strong indication that the nickname "Dictator Hussein" is a well-deserved title for "Dean" Hassan.

actually, dr. vu is probably the most qualified professor at the school, and would be a strong candidate for dean at ANY school with her credentials (and she speaks good english) but unfortunately she serves the wonderful Dr. Hasan and "doctor" monroe.... too bad, it's such a shame

This is getting ridiculous, a week before the EXAM, three students get reprimanded for WHAT? Do they even have ANY evidence? Or did they get student to write FALSE accusations about the three students? If you want to get to the truth, then you have to think like "HASAN" and "MONROE". SICK THINKING!!!

All throughout school, we had an ATTENDANCE POLICY. You miss three days with UNEXCUSED ABSENCE, then you are KICKED out!! So who was kicked out for that, NOBODY!!

We had a policy for ZERO TOLERANCE for cheating. OH MY GOD!! So many people cheated and were CAUGHT CHEATING. Who was kicked out for that, NOBODY!!!

We had people who disrepected professor. Who was reprimanded for that, NOBODY!!

BUT YOU WILL GET KICKED OUT FOR ASKING FOR THE TRUTH!!!!!!

What kind of BS is in this school??? In HICP, you are GUILTY before you are proven innocent!! If it can happen to those three students, then it can happen to ANYBODY!!!

*one of the students who was wronged was part of the student government. That person always helped out. This is so SAD.*

With the scandal about to be made public in HI within days, are students still attending classes as if things were normal? Is there drama every single day?

I toured the facility in early January and was very shocked by the learning environment. I can't believe they squeezed 240 students in that make shift lecture room. Students sitting on foldable chairs and tables. Also, only half the students had ethernet terminals available to them in the lecture room. When they showed me the HICP computer lab, I was like....this is it? They had like 8 computers available for student use. When I asked about their library, they said they didn't have one. When I asked about their laboratories, Miyahara said they will be using UH's. When Mr. Park came to talk about financial aid, it was short and to the point-They don't have any. You have to come up with $28,000 on your own. When they showed me the location of the new HICP building, I was expecting a semi completed building. But no, it was only an empty plot of land. Every student should expect a top notch education with the works for $28,000.

If ACPE did agree to an on site visit for accreditation, they will drop their jaws when they see the environment the students are learning in. I can't see how ACPE will accredit HICP by the time the 1st class graduates in 07.

There are no classes I believe until Thursday, which is the first day of the cumulative exam.

ACPE has not, and will not grant an on site visit any time in the distant future. In Addition, students will never be able to graduate until they are able to complete their intern hours at rotation sites. You cant work as an intern in HI unless the school has candidate status. Therefore, until ACPE actually sees a "correct" application, THEN grants an on site interview, THEN actually goes to Hawaii, that is when their jaws will drop, because by that time it will have been 2 years and I bet the construction STILL will not have started on the building yet.

By the way gang, Stewart is from the STAR-BULLETIN, not the Honolulu Advertiser, never the less he is writing a big time story which should come out within a week. The **** is about to hit the fan ladies and gentleman and I can't wait to see these jerks get whats coming to them.

I hope you are joking, right?
"Dr. Vu" is as qualified as Hasan is to be "Dean". The lady has NEVER been an educator in Academia. If you research her or look into what SHE Truly has done for a living, she is a regular pharmacist; nothing close to being qualified as a Dean, Assistant Dean of ..., etc., etc. If this was any other Academic program of Pharmacy, the lady wouldn't stand a chance. The closest thing she is qualified for is PERHAPS to be an assistant professor. The same goes for Wong, Dee Antimisiaris, Susie Phan and the other PharmD's they have hired (if any).
There are certain requirements in Academia to be called 1. Assistant professor, 2. Associate Professor, 3. Professor, 4. Assistant Dean of ......
Just call the proper organizations to find out for yourself.

As you must have figured out by NOW at HICP literally ANYONE with a Ph.D, Ed.D, PharmD, MBA, etc. can be given a title of "Grand Stature," regardless of their Minimal to None experience, background, ethical standards, or qualifications. This goes for all the current faculty and administrators at HICP.
So, students, don't believe everything HICP tells you, including the BIOS of all the new people they have hired. Most of them are over rated and exaggerated.

Yeah, this is really becoming a soap opera. Can someone from HICP give the SDN community a picture of what's going on? What percentage of the students are feeling scammed? % supporting HICP? % getting hostile? Has anyone vandalized any of the administrators' cars yet?

I am a little confused because the business article about the dental school painted a rosy picture for the school.

Check out all the news articles about Rawson on the internet. While a state assemblyman he was paid over $187,000 a year!!! as a community college professor, through budgets he influenced!!! He was NOT "director of dental programs for the University of Nevada system" as he claimed to PBN. He was exposed double-dipping and forced to resign his "state job". Only to take an annual pension of 1/3 his salary!!!

see these scathing editorials from the leading newspaper in Nevada from just a couple of months ago!

http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_home/2005/Mar-07-Mon-2005/opinion/

And now Rawson is here while also drawing a salary as a gaming commissioner in Nevada. Sounds like triple-dipping? This guy must be some great conman!?

IS HAWAII THAT GULLIBLE?
Actually, he was the director. It appears after the school got going, he took a regular teaching position at the school. Then the problem of being paid by the state twice came into focus, which is when he became gratis instructor. However, the guy is still sleeze. He screwed the tax payers of Nevada to start something they clearly didn't need, but yet sold it like a good business man. (Just like HICP sold their program to gullible students) Now, he is apt to stick it to the students. The state of Hawaii won't have anything to do with the program in terms of money, and that is a very good thing. He openly admits that the state has no shortage, but the justification for building one is for the nation wide shortage. (If there really is one)

HICP Students, Remember Monroe ALSO telling all the students he was a former police officer in Hawaii (at the June townhall/state college address meeting)? We all heard it and there IS proof!
Well, a quick background search was done on him in Hawaii and HE was NEVER a police officer in THE ENTIRE state of HAWAII This is a 100% true fact....go and find out yourself if you like. The only thing that shows that he was for the state of Hawaii was a MAIL CARRIER. So don't you see that this man goes in front of the entire school stating lies after lies. So please just add this fact to verify 1 of the Hundreds of Lies the owner of HICP has said. Can't you see the pattern?
He is truly a derranged lunatic. Maybe he should be visiting the HICP psychologist he has working with the school and emailing all HICP students once every week. Hasan should pay a visit to the school psychologist as well, since it is obvious that he has lost touch w/ reality and behaves just like Monroe. And another note: Is there any other PharmD student, or let alone any other regular student, out there in the the U.S. that has a school hire a psychologist for all the students....it seems like they are admittingly and knowingly scamming us becuz they have this professional MIND/BRAIN-manipulator of a psychologist to help them try and alter the emotions and reality of what is REALLY going on. 👎 They are so stupid that they are even incriminating themselves.

Now what are you guys going to do? Are you going to run like the cowards you are? Lets prove to the world that you guys have been lying to all of us all year long. The profession of pharmacy dont want you guys!! The Dental Profession dont want you guys. The Nursing Profession dont want you guys. Stop the madness and end all this. WE THE STUDENTS HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH. LET US MOVE ON WITH OUR LIVES AND LEAVE US ALONE. YOU CAN NOT BEAT THE STUDENTS IN THIS...WE ARE TOO MANY...

Monroe you told us that you are going to make us WHOLE in the town hall meeting. You have hurt us so bad that nothing might make us whole again. You have interfered with the most sacred thing in the world, "education".

God be with you! I hope you suffer like you have made us suffer.

Hasan- you changed so much...Money really got to you didnt it? Such a shame..i think you were a good person at one time. Im sorry you lost the battle against corporation so you joined them.

I HOPE YOU GUYS .....LEAVE!!! Thats all I have to say.

Who are you talking to? 😕

First of all, I am an HICP student. And secondly, the author of this thread is prolly referring to HICP staff and students. Why? Because somewhere in that pile lies a liar and a coward. Liar being the administration and coward being the students (most of them!)

In fact, we are naive (at least I am). Most of us are in our early to mid 20's and for many our first time out-of-our houses and living on our own. You see, i am Vietnamese and there's no denying it. Vietnamese children live with their parents until their parents hit the grave (slight sarcasm, but true).

Before this, most of us lived with our parents and did not have to worry much about decision-making around the house. Choosing to come here was probably one of the most difficult "grown up" decision we had to make.

So, LET ME GET TO THE POINT

We all know we're SCREWED and yet we're sitting on our bee hinds and doing NOTHING. Somebody did something and the "skool" kicked them out. And because of that, its gotten' so many people runnin' scared.

Surely enough, all these students whine and bitch all year long. They know what's gong on and they know its for real! They know what they have to do, but they're not doing jack.

I understand we gotta pass the cummulative exams and we gotta keep a "low-profile". But people, sometimes you just gotta go with what your heart's telling you. You can't just look past your heart and veered to your dingus.

To all ya "keep it quiet and on the down low" people. You have been keepin quiet since October 2004; it's July 2005, aren't your guys tongues paralyzed from not saying anything?

I understand, you guys like to keep quiet and keep things to yourself and let other people do the dirty work for ya

Does this sound familiar? "Hey, tell me what happened when you get back."

And for the guys beyond 30 years, here's to you: You're the guys that always justify your case by making excuses that you're old and that you've been through these kinds of things and that keeping quiet is the best way to go. Well, I say, bull****. The only reason you guys are so damn old and unsuccessful in your education and career is because you're so damn quiet and never know when or how to speak up. I mean, how are you going to be a strong person if you have other people dodge the bullets for you. My advice to you is, get out of your nutshell, open your mouth, and speak up.

You low-life piece of sh$*t, bunch of junkies.....back stabber....fakers....me-first backseat son of bitches!

Personally, I dislike many students at HICP for their cowardness and unwillingness to speak up. I can't stand them!!! Their just low-life piece of sh(*$t, junkies, back-stabbing, fakers, backseat bitches, whom i would never take to war with me.

All ya' HICP students read this, and I hope DCCC, ACPE, and the whole world reads this. You all might think this is too outrageous and I am being bias, but its practically how myself and many other students feel; i am just representing them.

Here's a scenario of a coward hicp student

"yo man, this school sucks...they can't do that...i can't believe that...why are they doing that...that's horrible...we should do this, we should do that, t, so and so is so dumb, he or she should've done this and that, man i think this is what we should do"....But you know what ....YOU DO IT!!!! I am just gonna keep quiet, cuz i am "smart"...smart people don't get themselves in trouble. Smart people keep their lips shut. Smart people= Coward

P.S. much props go out to the five people (you know who im talking about) that got "suspended" by HICP...what the hell is this....High School, wtf is a suspension's got to do with graduate school?
And for all ya chickens and cowards, pack your bags and go back to your cheap stinking Bolsa or westminster, or wherever you live and eat your Pho...

Hasan, Monroe, Criswell...although you guys are jerks I give you all credit for being such great actors...hope to see you someday on Bolsa!!![/QUOTE]

Look on the bright side. At least you guys got a REALLY expensive year long vacation in Hawaii while trying to backdoor your way into the Pharmacy profession. Like I said before, having good judgement is critical to someone looking to get into the Pharmacy profession. You should have known better and did your own research despite what "they" told you. Better luck next time!

Easy for you to say! It's always nice to know people like you that makes me say to myself "I guess im not the only ******* in this world after all."
But, thanks for the words of encouragement.

What's with the negativity? Why kick someone when they're down? I'll be honest, if this was 2004, I would have gone to HICP over any accredited pharmacy program outside of California--I can't get enough of this place.

I'm not pre-pharm and I don't know much about the pharm profession, but I personally believe empathy is as important as critical thinking.

Empathy? What about common sense? Alot of us here are all pre-pharm applicants and had every opportunity to apply to HICP but chose not to. Things just didnt add up especially when they were demanding you to pay the full tuition out of pocket..come on...
PERSONALLY, I believe that a large majority of the applicants knew EXACTLY what they were getting into. They believed that HICP was their only shot at becoming a Pharmacist anytime soon and manipulated whoever and whatever to get a shot at attending this fantasy school in paradise.
Call me whatever but how could you allow your grandparents or parents to re-mortgage their home and/or take out money from their retirement plans for an unaccreditted school in Hawaii?

What exactly are you doing to bring awareness to the situation at HICP that warrants such strong language against your fellow classmates?

thats very true you know.

it would be a complete loss if the school had been in nowheresvillenofun usa,

It has been interesting reading this thread, especially since I just graduated in the inaugural class from LECOM. While our class was the 1st, it naturally had problems, but nothing like that being described here. Our administration was always straight with us (they even made sure we always had plenty of student loan money availble), and we were awarded full accreditation in June of this year. I couldn't imagine going to a school that doesn't even have an application on file with ACPE. I know enough of ACPE to know that they don't play games with pharmacy schools.....
