So... I'm trying to get my ducks in a row for PASS as I will be coordinating my entire app for OMFS residency from southern Afghanistan (I'm a Navy dentist). Should be super easy and straightforward, huh! :scared: I saw a previous thread dealing with a lot of this, but I was wondering if anyone could shed a little more light on the following:

ETS PPI - I know that for professional evals it is recommended to try to stay with OMFS... does the same hold true for the PPI, or could it be an administrator (ie - assoc dean of clinical or student affairs) or someone else?

Professional Eval - Even though ADEA's website states "Beginning with the 2012 application cycle in May 2011, the ADEA PASS Professional Evaluation becomes optional for applicants. If requested, applicants are encouraged to select the eForm option" let's just assume everyone is still going to submit these, since the programs will probably want 'em anyway. My questions is, since the eForm option is 'encouraged' do evaluators usually just use this, or is a good, old fashioned typed-up LOR ever the way to go? I'm just confused on exactly how this system works.

Institutional Eval - From reading, I assume this is just an basic eForm for academic evaluation to be completed by the dean's office. No curveballs, right?

Well, any help or words of advice would be awesome. Thanks.

I'm casting a wider net for the PPI. Those folks aren't necessarily evaluating you for your abilities in OMFS, they're evaluating the PPI criteria. I'm applying to pedo, and I'm getting pedos for my official letters. My PPI folks are going to be from pros, operative, ortho, etc. I'm picking folks who know me well.

I would say try to contact your evaluators now by email and check what they prefer

true, but it can be either: eForm or paper
