PennVet 2024-2025 (c/o 2029 hopefuls)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I put the full course name since the category was prefix/title. Now I'm wondering if I should have done only the prefix since it shows the level of the course? If you're currently taking it, I would put the grade you currently have when you plan to send the forms. Maybe a side note saying it is not the final grade?

edit: they also should have our transcripts to reference too

Did you print it and write on it or fill it out then print it or fill it out on an iPad? Only because my course titles are so long I don’t think I can fit it in the box

I typed it in excel, wrapped text, resize column or row to show text. Select print and size to fit. It should be able to print on one page. Saved to PDF, combined all remaining documents and signed it via docusign. You can also print out and sign by hand as well. I currently do a lot of formatting for work so I have access to adobe.

Just curious what your experience is like so far. I'm trying to decide between Penn and Wisconsin.
I am really enjoying it so far! We are the third class of students going through their new curriculum so there are still things being tweaked and changed but I really like the curriculum style and they are very receptive to feedback on how we feel like things are going. I am very glad that I chose to come here. I am happy to answer any specific questions too!!

What support have you received from the school in all aspects like mental well-being, financial, and academic?

I think the support has been good from all these aspects. The counselors do a great job of introducing themselves and having different wellness activities/labs built into our curriculum and making us aware of all the resources we have available to us. Financial same thing, we've had a few individuals come and talk to us at different points mostly more so in the beginning of the year. Academic support has been wonderful in my opinion. All of the professors want us to succeed and are so helpful and kind as we are learning and figuring things out. We also have free access to student tutors for every (I think) block that you can request (for free) as well if you think a certain topic will be harder for you. A lot of students did this for the first block of first year because it's a hefty block. Whether or not you use different resources like these, the school makes sure you know exactly who to contact in the event you did need to reach out and get help in any of these aspects.

Has anyone filled out the prerequisite course check off sheet? if so, did you put the full course name or just the prefix? Only because the box is so small haha. Also, what did you put for the grade if you are currently taking it?
I just put the prefixes because it was faster and the prefixes are on your transcript so they'll be able to match it pretty easily.

has anyone on the waitlist heard anything yet ? (I know it’s early but the email did say we could hear before decision day)

For anyone who was an alternate, the email sent said we can contact them after March 17th to find our place on this list. Would that include the 17th or should we wait until the 18th?

I'm wondering the same. I think it has to be after the 17th (ie on the 18th) unfortunately but it might not hurt to email Rob to ask just in case.

does anyone happen to know why we have to wait until this date… are they still ranking apps internally or ?

anyone know the size of OOS list? really worried but hoping for some sort of movement
I'm an OOS waitlist and my spot is #30 so maybe anywhere between 40-50?. For last year, I saw someone on the thread who was #37 on the OOS waitlist get accepted. So it's totally possible for it to move a lot.

or how much it typically moves?
Although I am IS, I was looking at some of the forums for the previous years which I found to be helpful. Apparently it depends on the year; sometimes it moves a great deal and sometimes not at all, which I know isn't very helpful advice. :/

I’m aware that it moved last year twenty two people by the end of july

It’s so hard to tell from previous threads and there’s no way to predict anything… I’m OOS in the top 15 so I am not getting my hopes up but also not ruling out the possibility.

Are scholarship emails still being sent out? Did any IS students receive one?
TBH, while some schools do give recruitment scholarships, they’re often limited in number. Need-based aid/scholarships (CSS profile required) will come out hopefully soon. It would probably be best to inquire with UPenn just to generally see about when scholarship information would be released!

Has anyone emailed Rob asking if there's been movement on the waitlist? I know we only found out our # last week but I'm curious...

I won’t say for certain but at the very least there will likely be some movement, even if small. I’m trying to chose between two schools and Penn, it’s been a tough choice but I’m going to the tour this Saturday and am trying to make the call sooner than the 15th. I met some fellow students at another DVM tour in the exact same place as me (choosing between florida and penn), so I wouldn’t give up hope— everyone is making decisions soon!

To all the waitlisted peeps… I emailed Rob today and he basically said they still don’t know if there will be any movement in the waitlist this year but most likely expect to hear on or after April 15th if anything.

did accepted students have until today to decide or did they have to send things in early due to mail in deposits ?

OOS waitlist #4 and going crazy having not heard back today!!! Do we think it’s possible that it’ll move within the next week or so, or was today sort of the “expected” day to hear back? Ik last year they used the waitlist quite a bit on decision day!

I think it’s definitely possible it’ll move within the next week. Looks like there was quite a bit of movement last year after the 15th

Regarding the OOS waitlist: Rob says there has not been movement and doesn’t not expect any this week… meaning probably that the seats have been filled and the only waitlist movement will be from those that chose not to go after putting their deposit down. Disappointing but congrats to the future VMDs accepted and committed !

I am hoping for the best for you 🍀 there’s still time so fingers crossed🤞🤞🤞

I'm holding out some possibility of hope!

I am someone who has put the deposit down and may give up my seat (OOS). Waiting on Oregon (waitlisted)
