So... Just looking at some of the recommended housing options- holy crap kinda expensive?! Hopefully some folks out there are looking for roomies! I read from last years thread getting a house with several people is the cheapest option? I feel like I am the type to literally just use a house for sleeping I'll be at school most of the remainder of the time (I study best at school now as it is)

Congratulations to all who received acceptances! Can't want to meet you guys!

If you're interested in apartments:

I live (literally) 10 minutes away in Lawrenceville. I pay 740 a month for a 1 bedroom in a really nice complex (and I've seen some PCOM students who live here too). 2 bedrooms are ~840 I believe. You can find cheaper apartments than this in Lawrenceville, but it probably won't be as nice.

Suwanee is a high-brow, white collar, suburban city so it is really expensive to live there. So basically, what I'm getting at: consider looking up places to live in Lawrenceville also. 🙂

Congratulations to those accepted today! I hope there's some good news in the mail for me on Monday.

Don't forget mail is delivered on Saturday also 😉

I live in GA so I think people accepted today were nearby the school so keep your head up and look forward to your mail coming Monday!!!

Very sorry to hear. This application process can be brutal. I would definitely say you should try to do that MS in Biochemistry program they offer. By the time you reapply, you will have a stronger application and you'll likely know all the faculty (which will make your interview much easier). Plus, the subject matter will probably help prepare for another MCAT if you choose to retake it again.

I wouldn't get too down, honestly from what I've heard every person I know or have talked to has taken at least a year off btwn undergrad and med school- not saying that's how it has to be but I think in the long run you will be happier if you took a year in btwn to sort of take a break from classes bc once med school starts your sort of locked in for several years- I know it sounds cliche but why not take the year off retake your MCAT and travel? You cannot put a price on this time you will have to refresh/ enjoy yourself before med school starts- good luck to you!!

ACCEPTED! Got the letter in the mail yesterday!

Personally I've been out of school and applied last year, got waitlisted everywhere and ended up not getting a spot. I worked on items that were nitpicked in the interviews & then chatted with the schools about what recommendations they had for improving my app..while most schools are totally willing to be honest, they didn't sit down with me till like May/June..you def have to start now & just use their input to confirm you're hitting the right things. Still been waitlisted at a few schools this yr and a few acceptances. Best of luck!

Any current students here (or other applicants) who were accepted to others schools and chose PCOM over the other schools- why did you choose PCOM? I have been accepted to a few schools and it is going to be difficult to decide although I don't have to decide for a while. Anyone else in the same position? Thanks guys! And congrats to everyone who was accepted!

I submitted my secondary like 3-4 weeks ago...for all those who did get ii how long after submitting did u get it? Do y'all think I'm too late? I've got a 3.3 sci 3.4 cum 31 mcat

My II came 2-3 weeks after I was complete. I wouldn't worry too much if you don't get an II for now. There are only 4 interview dates between October and December this cycle, and 2 of those are already done. I don't know about interviews for the rest of the schedule (January onward), but they are aiming to interview the same number of applicants as last year (350). Interviews aren't every week, or even on a fixed schedule from what I understand. It's still only October, and people from the first interview dates are just starting to hear back now, so you're definitely not too late. One thing to keep in mind is that this school focuses on applicants from the Southeast, so if you are not from the region, you may have to wait a while for an interview.

Accepted!!!
What a tough wait, so be forwarned those who live out of state!

Accepted!! I was part of the second batch (interviewed on 10/18). So excited!! Good luck to everyone.

Note to all: If you don't hear from a school, make up a reason to call the admissions office and ask about your application.

I called admissions to ask why two character letters didn't show up on my web portal that were sent a month ago, but the DO letter I had sent last week did. When I was speaking with Tristin, he confirmed that they had everything and my app was complete; then after a brief pause, he asked me if I was available next Monday for an interview.

Anyone else going to be there November 4?

Check back with them every once in a while, there are people who won't be going to the next date, so they might have an opening for you

I have often fantasized about this happening to me when I call to check on my app

Yay! Congrats! Looks like we'll be interviewing together. I was beginning to get a little worried seeing all the November interview dates, but I didn't want to jinx anything by calling.

For those who interview at 11am, when can we expect to be done? Also, does anyone know how long does it take to drive from PCOM to ATL?
Thanks!

It could take anywhere from 30 mins (or less if your a speedy one) to an hour-2 hours all depends on the time of day and the traffic - if your not going during rush hour it will most likely take 30-45 mins Id say but keep in mind rush hour(s) can start as early as 3 in Atlanta depends on what's going on (ie braves games etc)

Would any of you that got accepted please share your stats??
It would be very appreciated! 🙂

The interviews start at 1 and the last ones will end at 3. Each interview is capped at 20 minutes. If you're in the first group that is interviewed, you could be done pretty early (1:20-ish). Once your interview is over, you can leave if you want, or you can stay and talk to the medical students, Trena, or anyone else that's sitting with the rest of the applicants. One piece of advice: ask the medical students about your interviewers. You will know who they are before you interview, and you'll have time to ask about them before you interview (unless you're first).

It took me about 45 minutes from the airport to the school with minimal traffic. The return traffic was definitely worse, and it took more than an hour to get back to that part of town.

Kabead, my stats are above average compared to last year's class, which was 3.46 cGPA, 3.37 sGPA, 28 MCAT.

3.68/3.45 26 MCAT. I got asked a clinical question at my interview, which I apparently got correct. So maybe that helped haha

Do we have a list of possible interview questions or common topics that they ask about? I know that they give you the opportunity to type responses prior to the interview, but it would be nice to know ahead of time.

Heres some info for all you upcoming interviewees (i was going to post this earlier but i got lazy lol):

I interviewed back in early october, which was fairly early in the game. There are 9 total interview dates and I was the second date.
Overall the entire process was very very chill. They do there best to answer all questions and take the pressure off the whole interview thing. I didnt get asked anything about my gpa or mcat, which was very surprising since I knew my stats were not stellar. My questions were more geared towards how i study, how i handle pressure, how i process information, balance school/ leisure..... stuff along those lines. But while talking to the other people there who interviewed before me, it seemed like we all got asked different things.

Anyways, I got my acceptance letter about a week later. but they told us it could possibly take two weeks or more.

So correct me if i'm wrong, there are aprox about 300 interviewees for 135 spots. Do we know how many acceptances?

I interviewed Oct 11 and was accepted with below their avg stats from last year- 3.4/3.5 gpas and 24 MCAT and contrary to last years thread I did have one subsection that was a 7

Also to answer the question regarding interview ?s everyone's will be different for each interview Trena made it clear that she has hundreds of questions prepared and no interview group will get the same questions- having said that you do get to see the questions and type your answers before your interview- my interview consisted of discussing the answers to my questions none of which were about stats mostly how would you change healthcare type questions, why DO, etc; overall I felt my interviews went really well and were pretty laid back

For me, the questions we had to type about and the questions I was asked in the interview were very different. I know the intention was to make the interview more conversational, but that was not what happened in my interview. It probably depends on the interviewers' moods and interests. This is probably not the norm, but just prepared to be asked about other things on your application than what you type in the morning.

People if you just got an ii and it is later than you wanted, try contacting them and you may get an earlier date. I got my ii yesterday and it was for 12/9. I got an email today saying there was an earlier one on 11/4. That was very quick and unexpected!

I interviewed on October 11 at 8:30.... and JUST found out I was accepted! 😀 Woohoo! Really excited. I'm going to withdraw my application/acceptance/interview at other DO schools.

(I recently moved so I set up mail forwarding last Tuesday. It has delayed all my mail, including GA-PCOM's decision letter. I was looking forward to opening the letter, but after it didn't come in today, I couldn't wait any longer. I called and was told over the phone. Glad that headache is over!)

Does anybody know till when PCOM-GA interviews? Is it just too late to apply now?

Assuming there are 3 sessions per interview date (8 am, 11 am and 1 pm?)with around 20 applicants per session. I would say around 120 have been interviewed thus far (2 interview dates have passed). They aim to interview 300-350 applicants. Actually Im not sure if there is a 1pm session but you get the general idea.

How much are PCOM GA's need based scholarships or Merit based scholarships? What are the criteria for merit based scholarships?

When did you complete? I completed 10/14 and I am just wonder about how much longer I have to wait.

Well I don't know exactly when I was complete. But I sent my secondary on 9/20. So maybe 2 weeks later? I emailed them to ask about my status. I think I got lucky to get an 11/4 interview because my original interview was mid December. I think , at this point, most interview invites will be late December or January. There are tons of apps. I could be wrong abut the date but everything seems pretty pushed back at this point.
