Philadelphia COM - Georgia (GA-PCOM) Discussion Thread 2013 - 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
From last years thread it seemed like Trena started the FB group? Also other schools would have an upperclassman start it so they would be available to answer questions so idk if we should try to start one or wait? I'll be looking for some roommates so the sooner the FB group the better haha

If an official one is going to be started by the admissions of the PCOM-GA, then yeah I agree on waiting for that. If not, I do not think it is a bad idea to start one ourselves.

BUT I am still waiting to hear back if I am accepted or not... 🙁

Boy it's silent in here lol. Still no word. I'm so impatient

ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!!

Side note: Originally had a December interview, but literally (3 days prior) got a last minute change to 11/4

Congrats to all those accepted! Does anyone know where to find the class schedule? Or know what the schedule is like?

Those who got accepted requested an email? , or they are just sending them ?

I emailed Tristin the day after the interview and asked if he wouldn't mind sending me my decision electronically. He said it wasn't a problem.

Who is Tristan? Sorry just keep seeing the name and I don't remember anyone named Tristan from the interview

Congrats to all those accepted! Does anyone know where to find the class schedule? Or know what the schedule is like?

At the interviews in the folder they give us had the class schedule in it for the first 2 years. Not class times or anything, but the credit hours.

Yeah I have that I was just wondering if anyone knows what the actual schedule is.

Ooops. I mean, ACCEPTED!!
Congratulations!! In the morning, when we were sitting in a circle waiting for the day to start, were you the guy sitting to my right that showed me a pic of your baby on your phone?

Ah. Probably not yet but it can't be too different from what the 1st years have now, if any of them see this.
Also I think everyone means Ms. Trena, not Tristan

Haha yea, that was me.

No is Tristan because Ms. Trena is away until January. She was here for the October interviews but not the Nov one. Tristan is the outgoing guy who sits at the office in the waiting room.

Accepted! Would also like to add that match list is absolutely meaningless to look at. Please never ever go by that. The only things that do concern me are attrition and board scores. What do you people think about these? If it's such a mediocre school, why did their students love it so much? It seemed pretty awesome to me .. And it's PCOM, so it has to be good. Am I right? Congrats to those accepted

Congrats to everyone accepted-- can't wait to meet you all next year!

Wait... They gave you guys stuff to take home? I interviewed on Oct. 11 and I don't remember getting anything. Did I leave my papers in the waiting room/cafeteria, am I going crazy, or did they not give us any papers to take home?

Are there any Oct. 11 who can give some insight?

Yeah I was there on that day. It was just in the white folder that said has the school logo on it. It also had a pamphlet about OMM, financial information and a little notepad.

Okay, thank you for the info. I definitely neglected to grab mine before leaving then.

Accepted!!!! This is absolutely awesome!

Congratulations!!

Think they are going through with the 11 am batch first. Have any 8am heard anything ?

Yeah, I asked him to email it...I was in your group. Maybe it got sent through snail mail or there could be something holding up my app...I emailed him. But I am so anxious to find out

Accepted!! I am so happy except I came down with a viral gastroenteritis today.... been feeling nauseated, having diarrhea x16, and vomitied x4. Also fever.....

what a great day to get sick... ugh

ScootL, I'm pulling for ya, bud. Give them a call tomorrow.

Thanks man! ... do you have anymore interviews?

Nope. Getting accepted to WesternU (my top choice by far) ended this cycle for me. I withdrew from my other scheduled interviews and paid my deposit to WesternU.

What about you? Any more interviews? Have you heard back from LMU?

Congrats to all those recently accepted!!! Although I must say I'm a little jealous of your decision turn around time! Haha ours took like 2 full weeks! Anyways can't wait to meet y'all 🙂 woohoo!!!!

Btw any Oct interviewees receive their matriculation packet yet? I've gotten several of the emails about them receiving my deposit and telling me to login to nucleus for further info/deposits but I haven't gotten my packet which supposedly has the login info - just curious? I don't want to pull my application from AACOMAS until the big deposit is paid... JUST to be on the safe side

I haven't sent in my deposit yet. How long did it take for them to process it? And did you send it to the address that is in the acceptance packet?

Same here, just the emails, no packets yet.

I used the address in the acceptance packet and it took about a week to get an email saying they received it (although the check still hasn't cleared)

Okay can someone please post the numbers for this school? All this attrition/boards crap has me concerned... Board pass rates from 2008 were all I could find. It was 96%. Isn't that good? Can someone give me a list of pros and cons for this school? I'm on a phone and searching for the stats is quite difficult. Thanks

Yeah, 96% is good. I don't think they publish attrition rates and such each year. Why are you concerned about it?

I think the pros and cons are kind of subjective, but I can tell you that I liked the size of the school, proximity to my family, very laid back environment it seems, they video lectures and post notes online so class attendance is not mandatory, and the student population really likes it. It also has a solid reputation. I guess the cons to me were... that it's not on a big pretty campus? not that big of a deal to me though.

I think that interview days are probably the best way to see how you feel about the school and compare it to other schools you have interviewed at. I don't think you should get worried about attrition rates or anything, but maybe I'm just being naive by not worrying about it.

Im not sure if you're being naive or not lol. I don't see why people were complainig about the campus. It's pretty regardless of its size . Why do you think tuition is 44k instead of 40k ?

I don't want to sound like I'm complaining. The school itself impressed me in almost every way. I guess I was just looking for a con to throw out.

I'm not sure about the tuition, but it seems typical that schools charge a few thousand more each year. I would hate to know what tuition rates will be in 15 years. It's still about average for a lot of the schools I applied to so I guess it's not bad. I did think about LECOM for the lower tuition, but I don't think I could stand a school that requires attendance, has a dress code, no drinks in class, etc. I imagine myself spending my days wearing sweatpants in the library.

Congratulations! 😀

Congratulations!

Congratulations!? :nailbiting:

Thanks for the congrats, and a big congrats to everyone else who was accepted! I'm super excited about being able to attend this school!
