Hello, did anyone get IV dates from montefiore for CCM?. They had sent an email in early August that IV invitation will be sent by end of the month. Still waiting for that email...

US MD applying CCM from EM. My med school and residency aren’t particularly well known, don’t have too much as far as research, but think my scores/grades and letters are relatively competitive. Knew the cycle was going to be tough and heard it can be tougher for EM applicants, as well as that some programs only “slot” a certain number of spots for EM applicants so I applied broadly.

Currently have 11 interviews, happily surprised at how things turned out so far, but also keeping in mind larger applicant pool and # of EM “slots” means there’s probably still a ways to go between interview and an actual offer.

With 11 interviews I'm sure you're going to land somewhere soon. As @Doctor Bob alluded to, most places are not offering significantly more invites, so that is probably your biggest hurdle. Congrats on a successful cycle so far!

Fair question and I was wondering the same. Not sure there is a right number given a lot of programs have yet to send invites, and it depends on how restricted you were in applying.

For reference, I am pretty much your average AMG from an academic university program and applied broadly. I have gotten 11 invites, 2 rejections, and plan on attending at most 10-12. There are still some programs I am waiting for, and will likely cancel some interviews over the next week or two depending on what happens. Congrats on getting so many interviews. I’m still being tortured by the silence. I’m also an average AMG from a university center. How many program did you apply to? Did you apply from coast to coast? I applied to 30+ programs but none of them are on the east coast. Currently very very very worried.....

Same questions for IMGs not needing a visa....how many IVs did they get on an average till now?

And a question for PDs and APDs on this forum - does it help to email updates to the PDs and show interest? Does it have any value? I was told to do this during residency, but I could never see the point, as the interest is evident - you applied to the program?

Thanks, I don't know the rhyme or reason to it. I applied to 40+ but I have also spent a lot of time around much of the country so I was interested in a variety of places. I know my home program and others have yet to send out invites, and as I mentioned before UC-Davis was hopefully to send out invites next week, so sure a lot of places are pending. Maybe the spots you applied haven't gotten around to invites. Are they on the above list?

I think the invites will come, and maybe others can shed light on things as well.

I'm an AMG with slightly below average board scores and slightly above average research experience applying from an academic community program. Applied to 78 programs, have 1 interview, 6 rejections so far. Less than half the places I've applied are on the list above. Hoping for 10ish interviews by the time it's all said and done, but definitely sharing in the anxiety right now!

The thing that worries me is over a dozen programs that I had applied to showed up on this list... with a few programs near where I’m training. I was hoping I’d hear from the “locals” but.... I honestly will be very happy at my home institution which still hasn’t sent anything yet. Now I’m just hoping for a second wave

Based on last year's list, programs seem to do silent rejections. Very few programs were listed under the rejections list. Whether to hold out hope is too multifactorial to answer accurately.

Overall I agree with what you’re saying but at the same time it would entail more noreply emails which when I see I get excited because usually it means an interview. If we got word of every rejection it would take the joy out of seeing one of those in your inbox lol

or just make it something you can see when you log in.
I think the whole thing should be more transparent. As soon as the program sends out invites, even if you don’t get one, that program could turn a different color. And then once they formally reject, it could turn another (red or gray). I don’t think you need emails, just something to give you an indication.

And maybe it refreshes once per day at the same time, so you won’t have a compulsion to check all the time.

Completly agreed the least they can do is to send AT LEAST generic rejection. At least you can keep a track of the programs.
 
I am IMG don't required visa, Trined from community Program and currently doing Sleep Fellowship and average scores and above-average research and got 4 Invite and 2 rejections so far. Applied broadly all over.

You can check those programs on FRIEDA. There are not that many honestly. You can log in to FRIEDA, choose Pulmonary and critical care. You will see close to 181 total PCCM programs. Then narrow your criteria to programs that do not use ERAS. You will find close to 8-9 programs. Some are military and some are not ACGME accredited.

When a CCM place offers you a list of dates to choose from, pick the absolute earliest date you can make work. Don't intentionally pick a spot late in the cycle.

I don't think these add much value. I get a lot of them every day. Most of them read like form letters (they just replaced my name and the name of the program after hitting cut and paste). Sending one isn't harmful. But unless you can make a clearly personalized email with a strong hook that makes the email reader pause and go to ERAS and re-look at the application... it's not a benefit. (ps... many people think they are writing -that- email, but if they could write that email, then their personal statement would be as compelling as well)

I can't speak for what other programs do in this regard. But I don't have an absolute minimum requirement so I don't send out summary rejections. If we set a board score / research quantity threshhold then we could send rejections earlier in the cycle ("you do not meet our cutoff for further consideration"). As it is, we send out an email once we have filled all of our spots because that is the only time in the cycle when I know for certain that I won't be going back to re-look at applications.

Well... remember your money goes to ERAS, not the programs. If you want to say it's rude because of the financial investment, then that should be directed at ERAS.

I’m a DO, US citizen, comlex scores are 524/562/579. First time pass on all and passed PE.

I have 11 case reports accepts at various conferences (i.e. ats, chest, etc), 2 published articles in BMJ, 3 quality improvement projects, and currently working on a retrospective analysis which is mentioned in my application.

Currently attending residency in a community program. I have 3 LOR’s from PCCM attendings I worked with over the past 2 years.

I applied to 88 pccm Programs (all over the country).

I currently have 4 rejections and no Interviews. I am trying to gauge how competative my app is and what my chances of getting into fellowship are? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you
