I think you summed up my point nicely there.
I think that is wise. Though seriously, I wasn't ridiculing you. Quite the contrary. I was saying that I think the disconnect here is likely based on word choice/semantics, rather than stupidity. I would also advise you not discuss this topic in the manner you did here for vet school interviews provided you are not in vet school yet.
I've already had an interview and been accepted to one school. Thank you though 🙂
if you're that worried, go to emergencyOk, I am just panicking in your general direction. I'm not asking for medical advice. If you want to reassure me that yes, I am just panicking because the human brain likes to make connections, cool! I will take it!
My mastiff mix had to be put down a 1.5 years ago due to an intestinal adenocarcinoma (yes, I necropsied and tested it). My older daughter is showing similar gut symptoms. I'm not saying she has cancer, just that she seems to be blocked. She has been vomiting for days with no stool and since she's keeping marginally hydrated, they just say to keep giving her "Cerenia" and keep giving her oral fluids. She has an abdominal mass (pretty sure it's stool) that hasn't moved in days and she now says her belly is sore, but is just as stoic as my dog was and when I opened him up, his intestine had actually been perforated and the omentum had closed it by adhering all his guts together in a solid ball. Again, not saying that is what is going on with my girl, but my panicked brain is just doing the "The last time I saw similar symptoms someone died" thing and I HATE IT!
I'm gonna go cry somewhere until the doctor calls back...
We've been in and out of the doctor's office all week. I called to basically get permission to run into emergency. If we do that, we wait for 1-2 hours rather than 5+. She's 4 and her new sister is 6 months. Even panicked I know enough to make my wait period as short as I can.
I doubt that it would be 5+ hours. They typically triage symptoms. if your daughter is blocked, that can be very emergentWe've been in and out of the doctor's office all week. Oh, I've sat waiting in the ER for 4.5 hours before they brought us back when she wasn't breathing well. A nurse spotted her turning blue again and pulled us back and said "we normally pull breathing problems back quickly. Somebody didn't understand sleep apnea's relation to breathing."I doubt that it would be 5+ hours. They typically triage symptoms. if your daughter is blocked, that can be very emergent
They called, we are headed for rads. Like I said I was panicking in your direction in part because I know at least some of you understand how your brain goes to the worst places even though rationally you know better.
FL for the win....****ing **** ****. It's snowing already this year
The two weeks of fall we had was really really nice...FL for the win....
It is really nice here today. Of course nice to me means overcast and on the cool side so most of my coworkers disagreed...FL for the win....
We call that being a snowbird. And it's pretty common. I bet you could do it on a relief basis if you really wantedThe two weeks of fall we had was really really nice...
One of these days when I'm old and rickety (kinda already am) and have money to retire and live large (doubtful), I'd love to spend my spring-fall in New England and travel down to FL for the winter.
yeah. most native floridians can't handle 70 and below. It is really nice here today. Of course nice to me means overcast and on the cool side so most of my coworkers disagreed...
Haha, yeah a good number of my clients do that. I sell a **** ton of cerenia for this reason. We call that being a snowbird. And it's pretty common. I bet you could do it on a relief basis if you really wanted
You'd probably have to do relief both places if you wanted to and be licensed in both. But seems like a decent deal to meHaha, yeah a good number of my clients do that. I sell a **** ton of cerenia for this reason.
Ooh. Relief for the winter somewhere warm. I like that! My employer probably would not...
50 and 60s is just about perfect for meyeah. most native floridians can't handle 70 and below.
agreed.50 and 60s is just about perfect for me
Actually, I should just move to the pacific northwest or CA. GTFO of the northeast especially after the dreadful winter that was last year...You'd probably have to do relief both places if you wanted to and be licensed in both. But seems like a decent deal to me
I still can't handle 70 and below. Couldn't when I was out of Florida for 10 years, and I can't now that I've experienced the glorious winters againyeah. most native floridians can't handle 70 and below.
Yeah, but the drought is not good, eitherActually, I should just move to the pacific northwest or CA. GTFO of the northeast especially after the dreadful winter that was last year...
I do miss never having to check the weather in the Bay Area cause it was always sunny and not too cold. Denver area was also really nice weather wise.
I forgot about that. Oh hell, I guess I'll just be snowed in forever. One day I will hopefully be able to afford a garage for my car.Yeah, but the drought is not good, either
It's funny, I've spent 23 summers in Florida and still can't stand the heat/humidity.I still can't handle 70 and below. Couldn't when I was out of Florida for 10 years, and I can't now that I've experienced the glorious winters again
The humidity is what makes the heat worse. I'd still suffer through maxed out heat/humidity to miss out on these last two winters we've had. 30 below before windchill is just unacceptable. It's funny, I've spent 23 summers in Florida and still can't stand the heat/humidity.
This looks familiar.I forgot about that. Oh hell, I guess I'll just be snowed in forever. One day I will hopefully be able to afford a garage for my car.

That is horrible. Coldest winter days in Pittsburgh were 10 below with windchill. That was about my limit. The humidity is what makes the heat worse. I'd still suffer through maxed out heat/humidity to miss out on these last two winters we've had. 30 below before windchill is just unacceptable.
It was only that bad the winter of 2014. Last winter, when I got back up north, it was still about 10-15 below but not nearly as bad as when I was walking to class that winter haha. Darn polar vortexThat is horrible. Coldest winter days in Pittsburgh were 10 below with windchill. That was about my limit.
Not quite a native Floridian but I can't handle much below 75. Nebraska in February is going to be awful.yeah. most native floridians can't handle 70 and below.

You're scaring me a little bit. I don't really own winter clothes... I'm going to be at the GPVEC, and I think we're outside a lot.So, I totes live in north-western Nebraska at the moment and lived here during my undergrad. We got to -50 (with windchill) every winter I was here. The first snow is always the first week of October. We actually canceled homecoming because of a blizzard my senior year; killed 10% of the trees on campus. But we haven't had a single snowflake yet. It's actually freaking us out a little bit. It keeps hitting 80 every couple of weekends, so all the trees still have their leaves. If the first snow is full blown blizzard, the trees will be screwed again. 🙁 .
Drought shouldn't be going on too much longer in California. It's already rained twice in the last 2 months!
Water's been kinda scarce since I lived there in the early/mid 2000s. I don't think a little bit of rain fall here and there, or even a year of extra rainfall will do it tbh. But who knows, I'm so not an environmental scientist by any stretch of the imagination.Drought shouldn't be going on too much longer in California. It's already rained twice in the last 2 months!
One of my classmates told me they were listening to NPR and some authority on the subject said we'd need the equivalent of several El Ninos, not just one.Water's been kinda scarce since I lived there in the early/mid 2000s. We hit like 85 2 weekends ago I think. Earlier this year, I think it was the Farmer's Almanac predicting summer to go later since winter didn't really break until like April. Now it dropped like 20-30 degrees overnight, and it going to hit 80 again on Wednesday. 😡So, I totes live in north-western Nebraska at the moment and lived here during my undergrad.
