So I just called my insurance company to ask if my TB test, Tdap, and Rabies shots that I need for school are covered. After asking some of my info and clackety-clacking on her computer for a couple seconds, the customer service rep said to me "Anything that you have to get that is required for school is not covered." I thought I heard her wrong so I was like "Sooo....just because it's required for school is why it's not covered?" And she was like "Yep." All I could say was "Wow." She didn't say anything to me so I was like "Well okay, I guess that's it then."
Like, seriously?? So if I lie and just say "Oh, I'm going to get a Tetanus shot and a rabies shot because I think I should" they'll do it for me? I'm not quite picking up what they're putting down. It's my mom's insurance that I'm covered under, so I'm going to sic her on them and see if that helps.
when i was looking for a place to get mine rabies series done at, i was advised to say that i wanted it for travel and not for school because apparently that sometimes affects availability...😕
Yes. Luckily my insurance didnt care what it was for, but I have heard that before.
I also had to have my doctor order the vaccines as "supplies" for the clinic(some doctors will write you a script and make you go get the vaccine yourself-- then its billed under your pharmacy and probably not covered.) My insurance even told me that I would need to get an RX and pick it up myself-- it was my doctor who told me that wouldnt be the best plan unless I wanted to pay a small fortune. The insurance company covered it when the dr submitted, but my dr said if they didnt she would just submit it as "professional services" or whatever.
I studied a crapton for the phys exam today and I made exactly the average. I just feel like that much effort should warrant a bit more result, but... whatever.
dont get me wrong, the vaccines are really expensive...but isn't it substantially more expensive to deal with post exposure treatment? like the extras you need and the hospital care and what not? and the likelihood of a vet getting vet at some point has to be reasonably high. i would think insurance would much prefer pre-exposure
A friend of mine's new bunny was getting neutered, but crashed and died under the anesthesia. 🙁

Second anatomy exam today! Waaaaahhhh! I hate it!
Throat feels awful, and I have almost lost my voice as of today over the course of 24 hours. I don't know if I'm sick, or allergies, or what. Thank God I wasn't teaching lab and lecturing this week. I would not have made it through one session.
Plus, I'm on weekend duty. FUUUUUU.
This happened to me a few weeks ago. Went to the doctor and she told me it was allergies but it went around the class so I think it was more of a virus. It didn't last too long, though, so I hope it's the same thing in your case.
I did absolutely horrible on my micro economics exam. Like 53% terrible. My Dad told me I wouldn't do well in the class, guess he was right..🙁
Really?! Some supportive Dad you got there. 🙁
Over the summer they changed the major requirements for the animal science major at my school and I don't meet them.
You could try my old standby: Right before bed, a cup of herbal tea with honey and lemon and then 2 Nyquil...you will sleep and hopefully wake up feeling better. It seems to work 90% of the time (and even if you're not 100% better, you will be 90% better...guaranteed...almost).
yesterday afternoon my dog was declared Cushingoid .... and I really don't have the money to treat it. Not on my "living on savings" vet school income, anyway. So now I'm debating putting her down. Which sucks. She is my first dog.
i worked in internal medicine for two summers, and if i remember correctly it's not the actual medication such as lysodren or trilostane that are that expensive, i think it's the maintenance of the disease? like you have to come in often for bloodwork and rechecks and such and i think similar to diabetes, it's all about how to adjust the meds to reach a point where the disease is managed. that can get expensive and the bloodwork/rechecks add up after a while...some cushinoid or addisonian dogs are easily managed, but some are very difficult to manage, at least from what i've seen.🙁
Are Lysodren/Mitotane and Trilostane that expensive? I'll be honest, since I was never a small animal person, I never got a mental handle on SA drug expenses.
My Dad basically told me to give up on college and that I was was going to fail out my first semester... haha, join the "supportive" parents group.
🙁

I took my first (of TWO) neurobio exams last night and it was brutal. Like, studied the practice test and all the review problems at the end of each set of lecture notes, etc, and it bore no resemblance to any of them. 😡
So now I'm pretty sure I'm going to fail the class and never get into vet school and I'm going to go cry in a corner for the rest of the week. I'm so sick of applying.

I guess we can cry together. I'm so upset about my chemistry test. I ruined my awesome average with a 62! :'( if I can't even do good in gen chem, how bad is it gonna be later on?!
Lotsa people do crappy in gen chem.

I'm not normally like this but, I think you could use it... **HUG**
Neuro can be a real bitch if it's not your 'thing' and I'm willing to bet that you probably did better than you think if you reviewed everything. So, first, find out how you did; and then if you feel you need a little assistance, feel free to PM me. There are a few 'tricks to the trade' that may help you study more effectively; and I'm willing to help out in any way I can. May as well put that graduate education to use somewhere... Try to hang in there!!!

I guess it's all relative to your income and other obligations (kids, house, etc)?
You're looking at a likely minimum of 3 stim tests in 3 months (14 days, 30 days, 60 days, or something), at $180 or so a pop. After that I think you repeat it every 3-6 months? I'm not sure.
