I am going home in 3 weeks! I love how understanding our professors are about taking an extra day to travel, especially since I am OOS from VA. I had to rearrange my schedule for the week of Thanksgiving, but it is worth doing 3 labs in one day so I can spend an extra day with family and my boyfriend. Yay!😍

I love watching Nashville and knowing exactly where they are in town. I love this place 😍 😀

I love when my boyfriend randomly calls me just to tell me he loves me🙂
I made 60 cookies for class tomorrow. After every exam, we have "post exam treats" and it was my turn to contribute. No problem- I love baking.

Day after Halloween candy for breakfast!

And, getting our heating/air unit replaced today. (Yay for heat that works and doesn't cost an arm every month, not so much for dropping $$$$ at once to replace it....ugg.)

Slight sadness for major happiness today: The vet I shadow had a cat dropped off who we later determined to have major renal failure. The poor cat was in bad shape. The owner told the vet over the phone to simply put the cat down, and he was not going to bury it. So we euthanized it...and then the vet grabbed a blade, small surgery pack, and gloves for me and said "Cut him up and do the postmortem. Let me know when you've found the kidneys and bladder." And then walked away.

So I got to dissect this cat without knowing anything about what I was doing...(it took me like 5 minutes to get the scalpel blade on lol). I managed to find the kidneys and the bladder and we confirmed the diagnosis, then I got to play with the rest of it. I found most of the major structures on my own (including the gall bladder!) but had to have some help with the spleen and the pancreas.

I know when I get to vet school I will probably hate dissections, but at least today I thought it was really informative and...yes...fun.

I have started to feel my baby moving. At least, I think it is the baby. Maybe I just have to fart.

Yay! :biglove: That was tons of fun until they get big enough to kick you in the ribs. 😛

How far along are you now?

I'm 17 weeks. I have been feeling little "taps" in the right area for about a week now. They are starting to get a little more pronounced, or maybe I am just more alert for them. I have my ultrasound in 2 weeks. I'm so excited to find out what we are having.

There is power! I could cry from happiness right now.

I'm at least 50% sure that it will be human.

I vote boy. 😛

I have to say, the full anatomic scan was pretty awesome when you've had anatomy. I was really amazed at how much you can see/recognize at that point. If you've got a good humored ultrasound tech, see if they will let you play name that part. It was fun. 🙂

I think nyanko wins. I'm guessing girl. I know it's an old wives' tale but the heart rate has consistently been in the 160s. And I subconsciously call it a girl all the time. But on the other hand, I have dreams about the ultrasound and it is a boy every time. We have our names picked out for both a boy and a girl so we are excited either way.

What are the choices for the names? I love finding out what names people choose for their kids and what they would have been named had they been the other gender.

Heh, that sort of happened with me. I was convinced it was a boy, had the ultrasound and it was a boy. But then every time I dreamed that the baby was actually born, it was a girl.

Like the names btw.

This is so awesome! I'm glad you had fun. There's nothing like an experience like that. Personally I really love dissecting... I love doing necropsies, and gross anatomy lab is my favorite class. It kind of messes me up though, because I have such a fun time dissecting and making everything look nice, that I don't get a lot of structure memorizing done 🙄 I love it though!

Had a (surprisingly) great time at this party tonight, and the timing worked out well that it was tonight rather than tomorrow. 🙂

I have discovered frozen Steamers! 😍 They are almost $3 a bag, so I hadn't bought them before, but bought a few last week and I am hooked. Totally worth the price for not having to use pots and not having to do dishes. 😀 Grab the from the freezer, pop in microwave and you're done! And they are so good!

It's the small things in life.

The sugar snap peas are really good in stir fry. 🙂

Yeah I could definitely see myself being that person in vet school...I spent about ten minutes playing with the leg muscles before remembering to look for the kidneys. I would move the leg back and forth and watch how the muscles moved...mesmerizing.

I was trying to tone down the look of pure glee on my face, since I was trying to be respectful for the cat that had just died. But the vet techs passing by me were definitely giving me weird looks...I think there was still a certain telltale glow on my face.

I just might have to try these! I'm always looking for easy ways to cook. I was never much of a cook anyway (I blame my parents who never cooked much when I was a kid), so even cooking when I had all the time in the world was somewhat annoying, haha. Now that I'm a vet student....... Yeah, not going to happen

See, I'm the opposite. I love cooking, my parents usually made homemade meals and the kids would always help. Eventualy, us kids would make dinner so it was ready when dad when came home, giving mom time to do her things.

But, after highschool, I spent 6+ years in the hospitality industry being a cook for bars, restaurants and a chain pizza place. (I worked on livestock farms at the same time, which kept me sane!) So, I've kinda gotten sick of cooking. It's more like a chore now. I do still occasionally take a few hours and make stuff and freeze it for later, but not as much as I used to.

And with less time than I used to have, I've started spending more money on conveniences to give me some extra free time. 👎thumbup:

That's definitely understandable! And I think that's really cool how your parents taught you how to cook.

It's sad because I do wish I was a better cook, and I looooove good food, but right now I just don't feel like I have time. I am a better cook than I used to be, though. But when you go into college not even knowing how to fry something in a skillet, all you can do is improve  I did spend the last year making at least one new dish a week, so that did teach me a lot. I wish I was good at cooking now more than ever, because sadly (other than seafood and fancy grilled cheese), Oregon's food is seriously lacking 🙁 No BBQ, Tex-Mex, or southern comfort food here 🙁 🙁 🙁

I recommend looking up Good Eats on YouTube. I love that show! Someone has recently put up all the episodes with really good sound and picture definition. 😀

This weekend is just working out really well. Tonight there's a Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament that my friends are going to that I don't want to, so I'll have time to write. And then we're going to meet up and watch Gravity Falls and have fun and stuff. Plus, tonight is Fall Back...I'm going to enjoy my extra hour tonight!

I agree, Good Eats is amazing. 😀 Good food and science, what's not to love?

😱 I forgot about Daylight Savings tonight! I would have been an hour early to work in the morning.

I feel cheated. The iPhone will probably change it by itself so I will wake up with my alarm, get ready and go. I won't have that great feeling of waking up and having an extra hour to sleep when I look at my phone.

Set your alarm for 1:58 and watch your phone go from 1:59 back to 1:00. 😍

In like 6th grade or something when we felt super cool and grown-up for being up that late, a few friends and I watched my family's VCR/DVD player to jump from 1:59 to 3:00 one spring.
It was very exciting at the time.

And there's this tonight: Anything is Possible 5K.
