dude i feel bad, they probably have to do that this year because an assload of us deferred last year, they def had none of this first alternate business last year

If x amount of people deferred last year (x|assload) isn't it reasonable to assume that an equal amount of people will defer this year; there will be no affect on admissions?
 
hi,

i interviewed on april 5th - anyone who interviewed around then have any guesses about when we'll hear back? they mentioned that we may not hear back before 2nd look. has anyone who interviewed in mid/late march heard back yet?
 
I interviewed in Feb and got a phone call yesterday. Will withdraw as soon as I get the packet, good luck.
 
First, good luck to everyone waiting to hear back. Also, does anyone know anything more about this 1st Alternate list business, or if they are using it this year?
 
Did anyone hear anything last night? Still no word hear on the east coast, and i interviewed 3/2...

Stanford interview for april....anybody know what my chances are? Is this for a waitlist spot?


Under suspicion that this is a post to terrify others who's been waiting for the response from Stanford. As far as i know, review of applicant files are on a rolling basis. Someone who interviewed on 3/30 (another lie) would not get a response this quick!
 
i interviewed on March 6th. still no word. *sigh*

In all seriousness, an acceptance 2 weeks after an interview in late March is entirely possible at Stanford.

They interview later than most schools, but we are getting toward the end of the cycle.

I personally know two first years (they were roommates in my dorm; yes I went to Stanford for undergrad) who interviewed in early April. Both received acceptances about two weeks after their interviews.

Also, there was a guy in this thread who interviewed on 2/22 and was accepted in mid-March, about three weeks later.

I don't mean to be pessimistic, but at this point in the cycle, if you haven't heard back from Dr. Garcia within 2 - 3 weeks of your interview, you're probably waitlisted (like me) or rejected.
 
Sorry I should have cleared that up. They changed my interview date from april 26th to march 30th. When I was there, there were only 4 other people. I guess they wanted more interviewees that day.

And you are right, 2 weeks is a VERY short time. My dad actually received the phone call at first (he had my cell phone for some reason). He called me and I said, "Are you kidding???" (especially since I had just told my attending that I had to wait at least 3 weeks more).

Thirsty: don't scare people man, most people on this thread got their acceptances etc. in 4 weeks, not 2. so the pseudo-troll with a number for a nickname actually is correct in doubting it.

Byong soo: It really isn't over until you get a letter. I got lucky this time, stay hoping.

i also interviewed on 3/2 and haven't heard a thing! stanford is my first choice too😀 . i'm trying to stay positive!

lol you want it real bad by the sound of it. I've noted that you even advised durfen not to take the acceptance 🙂 ... 6 weeks of waiting is a pain. my sympathy.
 
yea i advised durfen not to take stanford acceptance =)
but it wasn't because to open up a spot for me per say, but it's because he got accepted by Penn MSTP and UW MSTP (while MD program at Stanford). If I had those choices, I would've gone to UW or Penn MSTP. I also applied MSTPs this year, and that just made more sense to me personally. I had no ill-intention =)

I noticed this too. Your logic is sound, but your motive is suspect. Considering that most guys on this forum would give their left nut to go to Stanford, it's understandable.

wow, really? ahhhhhhhhh, i'm nervous! that explains why durfen was called last wed.

I just thought I'd post this info so that people who are still waiting will know that acceptances are apparently still being extended. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting. I know how hard it is.

Thanks. Stanford is my top choice so I will very likely be there this fall.

How about you? Have you decided one way or the other?

Thanks, byong_soo. I second what 535488 wrote. There's still a chance that good news is on its way because it looks like quite a few people got offers without the phone call. Hope you're one of 'em!

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted so far, and good luck to those waiting. Does anyone know what the deal is with the 1st Alternate list this year? Do they select those applicants from the normal waitlisted people sometime in May? I'd appreciate any info on the waitlist.

The first thing I've heard from them since being rejected MSTP is being placed on the First Alternate list. So I don't actually know if I was on a different waitlist before that... Does anyone know how often 1st alternates get a spot in the class the same year? Thanks.

Well I'm not sure if they had a meeting, but there were a bunch of interviewees there today.......
 
got the waitlist letter yesterday! i want to get in SO BADLY😀 i'm hoping for the best!

Who did you call to find out you're on the first alternate list? Cassandra?

I was rejected from the MSTP too. Did you send anything to express interest in the MD program? Thanks Caribou

I just got a packet in the mail. I didn't send them anything after my interview. I'm still curious how often people on the 1st alt list are accepted the same year... anybody have an idea?

How many waitlist or alternate list does Stanford have?
I's put on the waitlist and was told in the mail that not to call or expect anything before June. But i dun care anyway. It's more of a curiosity. 🙄
