I just got my info about going to Temple for the interview (On March 15th) and noticed you have to write an essay and give a five minute presentation about yourself. Also, I noticed it is a group interview. Can anyone post their past experiences interviewing at Temple with reguards to how its carried out and the type of questions, etc?

Thanks In Advance.

Vikas,

Very good questions, actually those are the exact same questions that I had. If you do a "search" and type in Temple, you will find plenty of answers! Good luck! You'll be pleased!

i wrote an awful, horrible essay and still got in...
and i didn't prepare the 5 min thing at all, no one else did when I went :) but since this is the end, you might want to consider practicing writing a sentence :D and telling a little about yourself such as likes, dislikes...and remember your life shouldn't be all about dentistry!! show them you're well rounded!

Thanks for the input, how does the group thing work do they just go down the line asking you questions or is it like a conversation.

when i interviewed, there was only one interviewer, and he just said, go around and introduce yourself... no directions whatsoever as to what to say...
and then after everyone went, he said, any questions for me?
and that was it =) pretty painless :)

I was very "uncreative" in my essay. I basically rewrote a paragraph from my personal statement

As for the interview, we were broken up into groups of four. We did not have to give the 5 minute presentation of ourselves. The interview itself was ok, but I don't like the group interview idea

Thanks for the info, I just finished typing up my preinterview stuff for them, I did not use the form they provided since i wanted to say alot more, I hope they don't care. I think I am all set for the interview on the 15th, I will let everyone know how it goes! :)

Thanks Again For All The Quality Input.

My group interview was more like a conversation. I think they are looking for you to be able to interact with the others in your group. As for telling a little about ourselves, we all pretty much said where we grew up, went to school, and what experience we have had with dentistry. It was obvious that a few of the members of the group had prepared and memorized a little speech...and I think it sounded just that...prepared and memorized. Just be yourself.
