thanks to those who actually took the time and answered my question. One other quick question, are there dorms at baylor? and is it normal for dental students to stay in them?

Yes, there is one 5-story dormitory building but space is limited. Check into the Wilma Bass dormitory (located right across from Baylor Medical Center Hospital and a 5 minute walk to the dental school). A lot of nursing students stay there. It is not common for dental students to stay there, but it is possible and has been done.

Set a time and a place.

talk the talk, walk the walk.

You name it, I'll be there. And I'm dead serious.

Mind if i bring my spouse ?

So now you resort to calling me out? I suggest you rethink your application to dental school, or at least I hope admissions committees do that for you. I'm quite sure dental schools are looking for somebody of a higher character than what your above posting displays. What's ironic is that you call the area surrounding Baylor "dangerous" and cite the presence of blacks, homeless people, etc. in your previous posts. Yet, in the same thread you call me out and want to bring your spouse along? Seems to me you're a hypocrite. You pass judgement on the surrounding area at Baylor when you apparently are the "dangerous" one. Sadly, I hope my future colleagues in the dental profession are more professional than you. I'm sure admissions committees would be thrilled to see you calling out people on a message board. So while you may find this exchange entertaining, I choose to no longer waste my time with this.

heheh
Wilma Bass, yes, 80% nursing students live there. a 6-story dormitory, rooms are small but managable. . yes, you have your occasional med/dent/pa students living there. very reasonable price, connected directly to the Louise Harrington School of Nursing. one street over from the Dental school.

I am only as dangerous as you perceive me to be. 🙂
I was only suggesting a meeting place to clear up any misunderstandings, since you appear to live close to me.
If you think I'm callling you out, I'd be more than happy to treat you to a cup of java if that makes you less afraid of me. -_-

I "pass judgement on the surrounding area"...um..well I offered my humble opinion. It's not of any monetary value, so why are you so upset? Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and my opinion of you is that you had nothing to contribute to the original question except to rag on other's, personally my own, posts. Contribute something useful and I'll give you the respect I believe everyone deserves.

You took my remarks way out of proportion. What do you think I have against black and homeless people? You don't think I've slept on benches myself before? Son, I could give you an all-week tour of the city if you wish. So let's not go overboard and accuse me of claiming my 2nd home is full of crack houses and gun fights.

Please, let me know what you think. Hopefully it will be constructive.

Okay you two are definitely not Baylor quality.

I come to this thread trying to find important dates and I see you two fighting about a school location?

What a laugh, thanks guys you've won the personality quality award of the year.

****Yes, I know to even post about this is worthless and wasting my time.****

My December 1st acceptance letter from Baylor begs to differ on my behalf, as does my acceptance of BCD's offer of admission to the 2006 entering class.

I've attempted to offer helpful information to the poster who asked questions about Baylor, and I hope I was of help.

also, true that the PAT score is not as openly emphasized as the academic score, but wouldn't heads turn to think twice if someone submitted a sub-15 PAT score?[/QUOTE]

well, i'm not proud of this, but i will share anyway. i got a 14 on pat and interviewd at all 3 schools..(houston on 1-23)....and accepted to san ant.

i've been told that admissions looks only at the AS score, but I don't know if that is correct.

It got kind of quiet in here after the heated debate over who knows more than whom about Dallas.

Now that all of that is behind us...has anybody received any good news regarding acceptances in this much anticipated second round? I figure if there isn't anything by the beginning of February, then it's more waiting in store til the next time.

I just spoke with a rep from Baylor's admissions office and she said people may not hear from the school until Feb. 1st!!!! :scared: That seems like ages away!!!! but hey, all we can do is wait....i guess. 😳

and wait we shall...are they mailing out like a second "round" or doing rolling admissions. the SA people said they are doing rolling and will send out a few at a time, see if they get a reply, then send out more.

From what i was told it should be a "2nd round" with acceptances, rejections & alternate list-ees.

Will some of the people who posted earlier in this thread, ex. FCIllini (he started this thread), KatieTX, Vitae, etc. say where they are attending?

man...all this hype about receiving letters around jan. 15. 🙁 so they have or have not met again to pick people ? darn the med students might get accepted before i do 🙁 when should we be anticipating the arrival of a letter, hoepfully ? 😕 did they say don't even check the mail before february ? too much suspense... 😱

anyone have any info on how many seats are filled in the first round ? 😕

As of right now, I'll be attending the University of Texas-Houston.

Congrats on UT Houston! I'm assuming that Baylor or UAB might change your mind? I'm also awaiting word from Baylor, if not I'm attending Arizona.

Baylor wouldn't change my mind - just didn't get a good feel from them (or an acceptance for that matter).

As for UAB, it could definitely change my mind - I've got family in Alabama and can see myself opening a practice there one day.

UT-Houston & UAB would be neck-and-neck.

Just got into UT-Houston...which was for geographical reasons my clear-cut number 1...on the same day I just finished driving 600 miles for my interview at UT-San Antonio...talk about sweet and sour...much more sweet than sour of course...but it's just funny it all went down the same day.

UT-Houston class of 2010!! Good luck to everyone else...what a stressful process.

When did you interview at UT-Houston and how did you find out you got in?

Let us know how you found out. Letter? Phone?

You are the first 2nd rounder to know anything.

Well...I live in Houston. My home address is with my parents (closer to Austin, TX). They called me Monday to tell me I got a letter of acceptance from UT-Houston. I have not seen the letter, but if my parents somehow are making it up I am going to divorce them! 😉

I also spoke with admissions at Houston on friday, and the lady said 2nd round letters would be coming out this week.

Oh, and I interviewed on Monday, Dec. 12th at Houston. Good luck to everyone!

I know I should just chill but, are there any 2nd rounders from Baylor???

Yes, I got my letter from Baylor today...finally! Interviewed Dec. 16th. I'm from El Paso, TX.

congrats everyone. at least someone is getting in 😕

Marcel- congrats.

I am very confused about Baylor's letters.

I spoke with them yesterday and the lady informed me that no letters had been sent out and the admissions committee had not even told them the names of the 2nd round applicants. The committee has met but the admissions office is still waiting to hear the results of their discussions.

I'm very confused.

Anyone else heard from Baylor?

Baylor seems like a funny school. I interviewed there early in Septemeber and my interview seemed to have gone really well. They didn't really even have anything to say to me other than, "Your DAT is good, your GPA is good, and we see that you have taken a strong initiative to want to be a dentist. I'm very confident you will be given acceptance here." Obviously I left the interview feeling great! Well, guess what!? I haven't heard a peep from them since. I now have the funny feeling that told everyone quite the same thing. Still hoping, though, as Baylor is the school I really want to go to the most.

i interviewed at baylor back in september also. They didn't tell me that, however i did think my interview went very well better then the other two schools. I haven't heard from houston nor baylor. San Antonio, the school I was sure i wasn't going to get into, accepted me. Yea i think all these schools are funny and it's hard to judge what they're looking for. I think I'm giving up on figuring out on what these schools want.

I recently graduated from UTHSCSA ( San Antonio) Dental School.
If you have any questions, feel free to email me.

Hi,

I got accepted to SA in Dec 🙂 and I wana ask you where should I stay around the campus? I plan to go down SA this Spring Break to find apartment. Are you still at SA for graduate program? Hope to see you this Fall.

Thanks,

Katie

congrats to all! I'll most likely be going to Baylor, hope to see you there!

yea im SA bound also, i checked around online for some places their prices seem to fall in affordable ranges. i think i saw this on the UTSA Dental School webpage.

Today I got a letter from Baylor stating that the class has been filled. I was told that I'm an alternate. It's amazing that the class was filled up in the first round. I've hear that they usually put about 20 alternates on the list, so it's a slim chance for the alternates at the lower end. Only good news is that since it filled up in the first round, maybe some of the people were accepted into multiple schools and accepted to all of them. Trying to be positive, still. Anyone else hear from Baylor today?

hey aldeswari did you apply/interview at the other two schools or are u baylor bound no matter what?

Hey I also got the same letter from Baylor today asking if I want to be part of the alternate list! This could be a good chance!

I can't believe the class is "filled" from the first round!!! Why even interview a second round if it's full by the first?? Anyways I hope my chances are good!

Does getting alternate list mean you WERE accepted but they don't have enough spots at the current time?
