yea... I'm an eternal Optimist (maybe that's why I always get burned) haha.. 😛

anyhow... I called Belinda today at UT San Antonio... and she said, although there hasn't been any movement of the WL yet because its still very early... 10 ppl have already declined to be on the waitlist there...

so that means only 65-10 = 55 ppl left in the alternate pool!

they accepted 215 people though so it's just now at the point where they'll start accepting people from the waitlist. still ~65 on there

BUT the season is still young - i'm sure there will be a good number of students who foolishly get lured away by some crappy private school 🙂

UTH and Tech haven't had people decline their waitlist spots? I find that a little hard to believe.

I am on the waitlist at UTMB (I won't accept if offered the spot, though) The letter told me that there are 200 people in the alternate pool, which is not ranked. It says that they anticipate calling up 10-15 people.

Yeah but we were wondering how many people have declined their waitlist spots, i.e. has the number of people gone down?

You just pull it up on their website amd it says if you are on the list or not..I guess if you didn't want to be on it you'd have to call and have yourself removed

But then again... UTH doesn't require you to send back the letter confirming that you Want to be on the waiting list (like UTSA) does... so alot of ppl are probably holding on to the spot because their too lazy to call...

Background:
TCOM was my only interview, and my first choice anyway, out of the schools I applied to. I've done research at the UNTHSC for the past couple of semesters; I applied DO/Ph.D, and the head of the department of the Ph.D program I wanted into worte my LOR. Needless to say, the match broke my heart. TCOM was my best chance, and I was fairly confident about getting an acceptance. Silly me. 🙁 I was rejected from the Ph.D program (I don't know if that's a side effect of being wait listed for DO, or what), and wait listed for the med school.

A friend of mine, who's a MS-I there talked to the admissions office, and a lady there said that the applicant pool this year was extremely competitive, and that the interviews were all comparably good. So kudos to us for being competitive. Yay. 👍

Extremely competitive, huh? No surprise there; all the people I met at the interviews were extremely well-rounded.

That is similar to what I've heard too, tho I doubt they adhere to it strictly. The schools are trying to build teams/ and diversify, so they will often try to find someone that fills the lost niche.

So I've heard that if you want to contact the schools and convince them you'd be a great student there, you should accentuate not only what a good fit you would be (by knowing about the school and surrounding area), but also how you could round out their classes.

holy moly!!!! 4 waitlists at TMDSAS schools?! you are the first one i've heard i think. maybe this dosen't sound like a compliment given that an acceptance is infinitely better than an infinite number of waitlists but getting yourself on 4 waitlists is no cheesecake, good job. i've never bought into the LMFU theory and when people who started getting accepted revealed that there LMFU never changed since they checked in like december, i payed even less attention to it. there are accepts and rejects on both the group of people with LMFUs that didn't change and the group that had their LMFU change. at that point, i can't make heads or tails of it. No idea why it would still be changing. welcome to the thread.

NO, you don't have to confirm. I called in and they said you don't have to call in to confirm, but u do have to call in to decline it!

how do you know if you're on the UTH waitlist? I didn't get a waitlist letter or rejection letter from them.
