how do you know if you're on the UTH waitlist? I didn't get a waitlist letter or rejection letter from them.

there were a few of us that got letters...

as for some of us (like me) I just called and they told me. needing physical verification... they scanned a copy of the letter and e-mailed it to me! haha... I needed to be sure!

hey everyone, i've been reading these forums for awhile and finally decided to jump in and start posting. i tried to add myself to the list and have no idea how to, but i'm on waitlists at uth, utmb, ttech, a&m. i know back in the TX thread there were alot of theories about the LMFU and i was wondering if anybody has been checking theirs still. my LMFU says 2/24/05. it probably means nothing, but i was just wondering why it would still be changing. i know y'all are probably tired of this topic and the crazy speculation so you have permission to completely ignore this post. 🙂

It is answered somewhere on this thread, but I would like to make a side note. My cousin had a 25 MCAT and 3.9 GPA and was packed and ready to go to the carribean until UTH called her in june. She is a fourth year now and is in the top 3 in her class and is doing plastics residency next year. I though that this story might be inspiring.

If you call UT-Houston, they'll tell you if you're on the waitlist or not. Good luck! 🙂

Are you serious? So how do you think they call someone when a space becomes available? I really don't know, but I always figured they ranked the next hundred people or so...

I think it's like cheerleading tryouts. If you don't make the squad, you get to be a "manager." If you interview and don't get ranked, you get waitlisted.

so UTH will not give interveiws to reapplicants it seems , what aobut other schools.

i thought i had posted this before but I too am waitlisted at those 4 schools. it sucks.
i am sure UTMB is not gonna move much for some reason and the chances are too low.
TAMU and UTH, i also don't have a good gut feeling about it. especially UTH since i really wanna go there.
so I am hoping for tech to take in people and i think tech will take in quite a bit.

so i am curious does the people at UTH tell her that they are sorry or something like that. cause obviously they made a mistake cause this person's good. I mean top 3 is very good. do they say something like we shouldn't have waitlisted you or anything like that. i would be curious as to what the administators have to say.

I think it's pass or fail now, so before it was probably ABCDF, so that's probably it.

UT-Houston has one of those pseudograding systems, you know, with honors, high pass, pass, all that crap.

Don't you do 4-5 years of General Surgery first, and then 2 years plastics? 😕 😕

EDIT: I stand corrected! There are two routes for training. I am thinking of the "independent" route, but there is also an "integrated" route, which is a 5-6 year Plastic Surgery program.

Yep, Lane got in off the waitlist and is currently a MS1 at UTHSCSA (class president). His SDN name is also, Lane.

Thanks everyone, I PM'd lane and am now waiting for response.

Also, I was searching through his old posts and I'm sure no one wants to hear this but lane got into UTSA on 5-12-2004. I don't know if i can wait til may, my classes basically end at the end of april so what will I do to keep my self busy after that, I don't know.

Also, I contacted Tech and they said they now have 140 people on the acceptence list and their class is 140. So any new people that tell them no means they will go to waitlist. I hope. They to accepted like 150 people.

Its been pass fail for as long as I can remember. But they do have a ranking system, the AAMC match requires it.

I will start. I am going to pursue my alternative teaching certification and teach next year (what subject, you ask? I'll give you a hint it begins with sci and ends with ence 😉 )

What medical school could reject me next year if I spent a whole year contributing to the profession that got me this far? (Plus, in DFW, the salaries are GREAT starting out) Also, I figure if I reapply to medical school until my MCATs expire and I still don't get in, teaching is a noble profession.


So, I wonder what everyone else has planned?

I'm applying to two grad schools. If that doesn't work out, I can always live at home with my parents and take more classes at the 'local' university. I'm also thinking about moving to Fort Worth to get a job up there - hopefully in a healthcare setting. And of course, I'll be working on my app for next year starting May 1.

I am taking a year off before applying again..I want to try to bring my lackluster GPA up and my MCAT expires this year and I don't think I'll be ready by August..I am going to keep working and keep volunteering..same old, same old..

so if i had a choice between working or getting another degree in bio (i'm bchs major now), which one would help me more next round assuming the worst. I'm thinking next time i will get in cause i'll apply smarter if you catch my drift....

truth be told, i don't really feel like doing undergrad crap anymore, i feel i'm ready for med school so no point in wasting my time to go to school.
and i have kind of worked before and it blows, i hated it and i will hate work if i start now. I feel like i should be training for the next 10 yrs. and not working. hahahahahhaa

so what ya'll think, work or school. is there any other option left for me that i can't think of.

and are ya'll gonna wait til june 1 and then reapply or just reapply on may 1.
