thanks for the much needed update Kilppy!!! 😛 Good thing SA is expecting "some" movement... but boo that they keep adding more folks to the waiting list instead of working with the original alternate pool they already had!

I got bored and counted how many folks were from out of state on the SA 2005 entering class list... it was around 55-60 ppl accepted from outta' state! Hopefully, if they get accepted from a school in their own state, more spots will open up. (that is... if they want to stay in their own state... ) :scared:

yikes... Hopefully this Page will SPARK UP by APRIL with news of ACCEPTANCES! man.. SOMEONE .... ANYONE! 🙄

Hold on, you've got something wrong. All Texas schools are required by state law to accept no more than 10% out of state applicants. I am assuming you went down our list and counted those who went to an undergrad outside of Texas. This does not mean they are out of state applicants! One may retain their Texas residency by using their parent's address while they are away at college. There is no way of telling each accepted applicant's Texas residency status by looking at the class list.

yeah I was just gonna post what dualsuperlead said. most of the out-of-state college grads have texas residnecy, they just went out of state for college. I met some at my interviews as well. they know the tuition here is dirt cheap so they came back.

oh yea... that's true... didn't think of it that way... mah bad!
back to worrying! :scared:

I am surprised that getunconcsious and blueorchid did not get an interview invite from baylor, that's cold. especially since they interviewed and accepted people with lower or similar stats this year. I feel your pain.

I've come to the conclusion that the reason Baylor (and other schools) did not accept me is because my clinical experience is weak. I shadowed doctors and volunteered in hospitals during high school, but had practically zero of that in college (my lame excuse: I didn't want to distract myself from getting a good GPA 🙄 ) Lesson learned, a little too late.

Rather than beat myself up for the rest of my life, I've decided to embrace TCOM for overlooking my faults and accepting me. 🙂

So.... I am bored at work today and decided to call some schools and here is the info. I got..I called TAMU, SA and Tech..There has been no waitlist movement so far. All schools said movement wouldn't occur until mid-april, early may. TAMU and Tech said it is hard to predict if any movement will occur until mid-late april, SA said they anticipate some movement..So much for March..Hurry up April!
Thanks for the info kilppy! 🙂

So now the anxiety of waiting has extended to April??? 😱

Hey hon! Thanks for the kind words 🙂 I think I probably would have gotten an interview had I been a Texas resident, but oh well! I am hoping that WashU comes through for me, and then I can give up my spot for someone who would love to have it. 🙂 I might anyways though, since I got accepted to the University of Nevada (My crappy state school) today. I hated the school but in-state tuition is pretty sweet.

I won't even ask for opinions on here, since I know that they might be more than a little biased 😉

Good luck all! :luck: :luck: :luck:

well I am a dude so ...
also Unevada's reputation's gotta be better than UTH, if i was in your position i would reject UTH and accept nevada and hope that dallas shows you some love. I heard from my prof that UTH is okay, and that people choose the school cause it's in houston and not cause it's a good school. so what I'm saying is nevada will help you more in residency than UTH, and I can tell you i'm not being biased but i'm telling the thruth. so choose nevada and forget uth. less money's gotta be nice too.
when does wahsU let you know.
plus if you get tired from school then open the door and go to the casino across the street.
congratulations

LOL, why do i keep thinking the guys on here are girls? 😕 Sorry for being dumb. Thanks for the unbiased advice 😀 I'm waiting to see who gives me more money I think.

I thought tx schools don't give scholarships b/c the tuition is so low, even for out-of-state people. maybe i'm wrong and few people do get it. now if you had gotten into UTMB and gotten a scholarship then they would have charged you in-state tuition, but I don't think UTH has that kind of program.

but i think and i personally don't care about the dough, I just think people should go to school that will give them best opportunity to get into best residency cause that's what matters. so accept nevada and hope for utsw. but otherwise keep waiting like us.

I know for a fact that both UTMB and Texas Tech offer several scholarships. I am not sure about the others.

UTSW gives scholarships to both in-state and out-of-state acceptances. In addition, those who are out-of-state and receive a scholarship automatically get in-state tuition. 🙂

Oh, poop on UTSW. And I have to know...which member of the happy couple are you? I've been wondering for like a month now.

LOL they are characters from ER: Drs. Mark Greene and Susan Lewis. So there :^P

And UTSW isn't the only one that offers in-state tuition if you get a scholarship and you're out-of-state...all the UT schools do it. It is one of their rules I believe. 😛

So playing doctor wasnt enough for you...You HAD to go and get a degree as well...

All actors/actresses should be as determined as you are.

/done being idiotic and nonsensical 🙂

Yeah...I figured it would be easy for me to get the degree since I use all those big words on the show all the time 😉

I can chime in on this. If you receive a $1000 per year (or more) scholarship from a Texas school then you qualify for instate tuition. Texas A&M has offered me this, and I know that Southwestern does as well. 👍

wow, I didn't know all the tx schools gave in-state tuition for getting a scholarship.

I looked at nevada and their tuition is lower than in-state UTH tuition.

just to air out: When i compared earlier, UTH has the highest tuition of all the tx schools, I figured UTSW and UTMB would be higher, it was surprising. after that i wish i hadn't ranked them first.

LOL, that you didn't know the people from er. even if you don't watch the show, I figure you might see them in commercial for the show or something. I'm just saying it, I'm not trying to make fun of you. it's cool and no big deal.

Jealous much? I hate ER and I never watch it. It makes me sad that people are already getting ugly towards me over 2 crappy little state school acceptances. 🙁 Go check out the "I got into Harvard, Cornell, Duke, UCSF and Penn and can't decide which one to go to" threads if you want to see people who are truly worthy of your irritation. I know it's hard when others have something that you're waiting for (How do you think I feel about the UTSW folks?), but I have worked very hard to get in where I've gotten in, and I do feel that I deserve it. I'm not planning to hold my acceptances until midnight on May 14 for pathetic ego reasons like some people, but I need some more time, and I don't think that's too much to ask. I assure you I'll have dropped either Nevada or UTH (or both if i get really really lucky) before the end of April, which is still before most waitlist movement occurs anyways.

You are all great people so let's be friends! 😍

I'd chose UT-Houston over Nevada, because I know nothing about Nevada. Memorial Hermann Hospital (MHH) is a terrific hospital. While I'm sure you'd rather be at Jurassic Parkland, I have no doubt you'd receive great clinical experience at MHH.

TNT has a movie on MHH during T.S. Allison called 14 Hours. Tune in April 3rd @ 7pm central.

So what exactly are you basing this "Nevada is better than Houston" stuff on? I'm sensing a lot of passive-agressive manipulation here...you keep telling people to "go somewhere out of state" or whatever in the hopes that your chances improve for getting off a Texas waitlist. Seems to me like you just want getunconscious to go to Nevada to open up yet another waitlist spot. It's his acceptance, so let him make the decision. Maybe I'd believe you if you really gave some reasons why Nevada is better than Houston (and even then, it still would be up to where getunconscious felt more comfortable), but to me it just seems like you're trying to convince people to turn down Texas schools in general.

I don't think any tx schools are bad, comeon, (any school is better than no school) I was just saying if you have a choice to pick between those two it seemed that Nevada would be better cause, well it's his home school. And that also means less money. I'm not trying to do any psychology stuff especially since I don't know any of it (haha)
And as I said if he gets into SW then he should DEFINATELY go there.
Since I wrote really fast maybe what I wrote cameout wrong, the reason I write fast is cause I got dial-up connection. Yes, I am living in 20th century. That's my fault, I should be careful so not to write anything could be misinterpreted.
And it's obviously his choice and whatever choice he makes will be good for him.
I'm not trying to persuade people to go out of tx, if I gotta reapply then I gotta reapply, I'm just saying it depends on the school. I mean if you have to choose top 10 school and tx school then the decision is obvious. Even he said it that he's waiting for washu, and I think from sound of it he would go to washu over utsw.
I'm definitely not trying to start anything here…

getunconscious...did you get waitlisted at UTSW? If so, I really hope you get in...you are such a great person! 😎

i think getunconscious's attendance at a texas school may be a moot issue for texas residents. i'm guessing that they may fill non-texas-resident spots with other non-tx-residents.

getunconscious.. sounds like you've got good choices. congrats!

Thanks so much 🙂 You all are very supportive. Drbevo i think you are right, I know that both Nevada and UTSW have separate in state/out of state waitlists. I don't know about UTH but I'd imagine it's the same situation.

Thehopeful, I think I misinterpreted your comments, and I'm sorry. I wish you all the best of luck with UTH or wherever you most want to go.

Hello all.
who got thier UTSW waitlist rankings this morning?
So I guess if I'm in Quarter 3 and the class is currently oversubscribed that means my chances are basically nil right?
better luck to the rest of you!

I got mine too. Quarter 3 of out-of-state alternate list 🙁 🙁 🙁

Can you say hopeless?

I'm thinking of withdrawing just to give myself some closure!

Hope everyone else is having better luck than me today.

"Currently, the entering class of 2005 at UT Southwestern is over subscribed.
I do not anticipate being in the position to make additional offers of admission
until early June, if at all. If you have not heard from me by that time, feel
free to contact my office and we will try to better define your status." 🙄

Oh well, I'll be turning down my waitlist spot if anyone cares. GL to all of you! 🙂

The only thing in my mailbox today was a Reliant Energy bill. I feel left out. Did the letter indicate how many people are on SW's waitlist? Perhaps it's twelve people and you're 7, 8, or 9!

It's an e-mail. Same here. 😎

Anything new with the TAMU waitlist?
Have they ranked it yet?

UTSW:
Does anyone know if the waitlists are pulled separately? Like are current out-of staters slots filled only from out of state WL? And WTF is with the June thing? Aaaaargh more waiting..

The waitlists probably are pulled separately because of that 10% rule (only 10% of the entering class can be out-of-state). It seems only logical that they would fill dropped in-state spots with the in-state waitlist and dropped out-state spots with the out-state waitlist...otherwise, what would be the point of having 2 different waitlists?

J. Scott Wright, Ed.D.
Director of Admissions
The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas

Dear “Dr.” Wright:
Thank you for informing me that I am in ‘Quarter 3’ of your out-of-state waitlist. I am sure as hell not waiting until June to find out where I am going, so please remove me from your waiting list. Thanks so much for wasting my time and money to come to your overrated school. I don’t know what I was thinking; Who the hell wants to live in Dallas anyways?

Staying in Houston,
getunconcsious

P.S. Your interviewers suck.

P.P.S. I know of many bachelor’s degree programs that are more challenging than Ed.D programs. Let’s not kid ourselves.

so what's up everybody,
how's it going TB.

spring break is over, school starts tomorrow, and i haven't done any of my homework, but now that it's sunday, so I better get to it. (who here does this by the way) It's hard to study when NCAA and NBA is on. There are some great games going on. anyone seen them. I still can't believe that shot from the parking lot went in, I think it was west virginia that shot it.

so anyone planning to call any schools.
oh I got a call saying they hadn't received a reply from me saying i wanted to be on the waitlist, turns out it was someone with the same name as me. that worried me for a bit.

let hope spring brings in alot of sun and people decide tx is hot as hell and decide to go somewhere else.

anyone know alot of people that got the letter from baylor saying they are accepted and are gonna go there instead of a tx school. I know one person, they are gonna go to baylor over SW.

Wow, that's nice of them! what school was it?

Glad to hear Baylor is causing some movement. I guess nobody has seen waitlist movement at this point? It should crank up soon 😕
