*** The Official LECOM Class of 2024 Interview/Acceptance Thread ***

Hello! After getting accepted, I sent the $1500 deposit check on its own but was there anything else required to be sent along with it?

Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to drive to and from Bradenton. I4 is notorious for horrible traffic.
Thanks guys, I'll be in Orlando on March 4th at 5:30 AM so I can basically choose anytime to drive down, do you guys have an ideal time to start driving to where I can hopefully enjoy the drive?

Avoid driving on I4 from ~7-10am and ~4-7pm. From Orlando, you can usually expect to hit traffic near Champion's Gate and Plant City.

has anyone tried calling the admissions office and actually had success in them answering? called 3 times over the past week and no answer lol...

Has anyone who has been accepted written a letter of intent? I know they asked for it, but I am torn between two schools and was wondering if this truly affects my chances.

I wrote a letter of interest right after the interview instead of intent l, since I was still considering other schools. They asked us to do it, so I made sure to along with thank you notes (which of course are optional, but I kind of felt obligated since I was already emailing). They definitely add it to your file and look at it. It can’t hurt to do a letter of interest, as long as you don’t state you will attend their school over anywhere else then you’re fine, as far as the other school goes. You can still talk about why you feel you fit with the school and what you loved about the program, etc.

I’ve never had success with phones, emails have been more successful for me personally.

So how soon after the interview do people start hearing back? I know they said about 2 weeks, but I am wondering when I should start giving up hope?

Will LECOM still send me a rejection letter if I never received an interview? I finished my application on December 2nd which I know is super late, but I studied abroad and wasn’t able to take the DAT until November 2019. I still haven’t heard anything from LECOM but I’m not sure if that’s good or bad since I never received a rejection letter.

Applying that late in the game immediately put you at a big disadvantage. If you haven't received an interview by now, I would start being proactive about next cycle's application just in case. Retake your DAT if necessary, work on extracurricular activities (volunteering, fine motor skills, etc.), and anything else that will boost your application.

How many schools did you apply to this cycle?

I only applied to 2 because I knew I was applying late, and I was rushed on taking the DAT so I didn’t score as well as I hoped. I didn’t want to spend a ton of money applying to schools when I knew my chances were slim to begin with because of applying so late

If you didn't score as well as you hoped, I would definitely recommend thinking about retaking the DAT. Improve your scores and show schools you took the initiative to improve your application for next cycle. You can start studying for the DAT and volunteering now and take the DAT in a few months while you wait to see if either school you applied to sends an interview invite.

Yeah I’m planning to do that within the next couple months, but I was just wondering if LECOM will still send me a rejection letter even if I haven’t gotten an interview invite? Or will I just receive no answer

I believe people received rejection letters/emails but I'm not entirely sure. Go back to the posts around December 2nd to see.

Yes usually a lot of post-Dec interviews. Be sure to email in your updates! Let them know you are still interested!
Who do you send application updates to? And how would you go about doing that? Should I still send updates even if I haven’t received an interview invite?

I am in the same boat. I applied on Nov. 27 and I haven't heard anything yet!

Just received an Interview (9:57 am EST)!

Omg! I don’t know if I should email them updates on my application or not. What are your stats? (GPA/DAT score)

i saw my AADSAS portal just now and it said application denied.
If you don’t mind me asking what were your stats (GPA/DAT score)? Just because I’m still waiting for an interview invite from LECOM and I don’t know if I should keep my hopes up or not

Anyone who was interviewed on feb 13 got the result ? They said it is gonna be 2 weeks for the result.

interviewed feb 6 and still haven’t heard back lol.... but emailed admissions and they said “committee is still making final decisions” and “i should be hearing back soon”

I applied in mid Dec and havent received any email from Lecom even the email submission. Can anyone explain this to me?

Have you tried to reach out to the office of admissions? Email a letter of interest! You applied a little late, but they are still sending out invites!

I feel abit weird, even not an email acknowledg that they received my application. I ll try reach out my email next week cause I call couple times and no one pick the phone.

Generally, when applying to the dental program you will not receive an acknowledgment simply because your application was received as all applications are run through the centralized AADSAS program. The first response you should receive would be a supplemental application but like others have said, applying mid-December is considered very late in the game.

My gpa is a 2.92 and DAT is 18. I am just hoping for the best, but if I dont get in this cycle, Im thinking of retaking the dat for a second time this summer. I am also still waiting to hear from 3 other schools.
Wbu?

With your DAT score, I would definitely retake it to try to make improvements across all sections. The DAT AA of matriculated students for the past 3 years has been a 20. For GPA, you may want to consider doing a post-bacc or a masters as the total GPA average for the past 3 years has been 3.5.

If you want to look at all the stats, it's the first post on page 13 of this thread.

I dont know what to do at this point. My DAT is 20AA 20TS GPA 3.67 overal and 3.53 science. I applied late and havent heard from school🙁

You may have to reapply next cycle as soon as it opens in June/July simply because you applied too late into the current cycle.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone is on the same boat as me and is panicking a little. I recently had an interview and a week later received an email saying that I was place on the Alternative List. Since LECOM is my #1, what are my chances at acceptance and when should I usually hear about from them. I did receive acceptance to another institution but is willing to drop everything for LECOM which is why I'm holding off on finding an apartment and sending in paperworks. But when is it consider TOO LATE and just give up already on LECOM? Thank You!

My gpa is a 3.7 and DAT is also 18. I’m definitely planning on retaking the DAT this summer if I don’t get in anywhere, I only applied to 2 schools though and I already got denied from one.

It's better to secure your spot and have a spot in a dental school (something a lot of applicants are desperately waiting to say) than to not have a spot anywhere. Secure your spot at the school that you are already accepted to (pay deposit, send in paperwork like immunizations, etc.). If you get into LECOM and it really is your dream school, then losing that deposit at the other school will be okay. Don't lose or give up your spot at one school, when you haven't been accepted to another.

Either way, you're in a dental school so make the best of where you've been accepted to.

Who would I email application updates to, or who would I email to send a letter of interest?

Does anyone have tips for soap carving? Is it something I should practice/prepare for, or is it casual? I saw a video where the guy was going very in-depth and had a specific strategy, so I don't know if that level of preparedness is expected.

no it’s just an ice breaker and has little to no effect on your acceptance.

hey yall.

I applied on the deadline Feb 1st but took the dat on the 30th of Jan. My official dat scores weren't verified till feb 28th (last friday) and they confirmed they received in that same day Before that I called early feb if my unofficial scores would suffice in the time being simply bc that was the only thing missing to have my app reviewed. They said yes. Long story short, i got an email saying I must have my official scores sent no later than feb 29th to be considered. I re-contacted them told them how I have been on this but ADA gave me no options besides to wait it out.
Now, I received an email after telling the adcoms such a situation. They sent a follow up asking me to confirm the test date of my dat and eta when ADA would sent it out. Once they recieved it, I was told via email my scores will be verified against my official report.

My question is, is this a positive thing or nothing to over analyze. Did they review my app and are interested? or just them doing their job bc i paid their fee?

thanks for the input

I wouldn’t over analyze it. They’re most likely just trying to get your app completed and reviewed since you did send it in, kept following up, and of course paid your fees. It could mean something or it could mean nothing. You won’t know until they tell you, unfortunately. I would just get them everything ASAP and then wait it out to see what happens. Good luck!
