****The Official Midwestern Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread****

I just got a letter in the mail stating that I have been placed on the alternate list.

The letter states that there is no rank associated with the list (or at least that they don't tell us).

I interviewed early January.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to congratulate everyone who was accepted to MWU-AZ for the c/o 2017. I used to post quite a bit on this forum, but haven't posted in a year or more. I'm a third year student here, and love it. If any of you have any questions about the school, the area, etc, let me know. I'll apologize in advance if I overly emphasize the upside of attending MWU-AZ... I love it here! Anyway, shoot me a PM if you want to chat, I don't want to hijack your thread. Congrats again!

Anyone know where they are at in the process? Any movement likely on the waitlist?

Accepted off the waitlist. Now to decide between Midwestern Illinois and Arizona. Any thoughts?

Got in off the waitlist today!! Was put on Feb 8th, interviewed Jan 7th!

Got in off wait list yesterday, declined spot. Good luck to all!

I called to check today. So, All of the 140 seats have been claimed. They're going to wait until May-June to see whether these students have been accepted to their state schools (assuming that they will drop). Not until then are they going to pull from the alternate list. 🙁🙁

I suspect they'll pull from the list as soon as seats become available. It doesn't do the school any good to sit around and wait to fill seats that become available. I know for sure someone just came off.

I got the call telling me I got accepted yesterday. I interviewed February 27th. Good luck to anyone waiting! Hopefully you hear something soon!

I was wondering if anyone got in with stats around a 17 DAT and 3.7 gpa. These are my stats right now. I am retaking the DAT soon, but just wanted to see if anyone got in with these. Thanks for the feedback and most importantly CONGRATS on getting in!!!

Got a cal Saturday! Very excited!! Have to choose between IL and AZ campus now... Also ^ I had a 17 the first time I took it... Retook it after a Kaplan course and got a 19 AA and 20 PAt 23 RC. Look into Kaplan... It's expensive but helpful.

There appeared to be at least 2 people interviewing today. No idea why since it looks like the waitlist is plentiful. I know this is probably discouraging news to some, but I thought I'd share. I'd bet a large sum of money that the current class list is not what it's going to be in August. Movement will come!

I am in the MA program at MWU-AZ. I have a solid 3.8 GPA in the program. Still have not heard back for a interview neither did I get a rejection letter. Getting really nervous. This is my number 1 choice too..

Hey I'm in the MA program here too. I went to talk to admissions today to talk to them about the alternate list procedure and how the pull people off. They weren't helpful but I asked them if the school is still interviewing applicants for the program and they said no. I think you should go to admissions and talk to them because it's really strange to me that you didnt receive any correspondance at all regarding an interview. Great GPA btw...this program is tough as hell.

No I did not, but I did ask if they had started pulling from the alternate list.

Just got in today off of the wait list. Interviewed in January.

Hey y'all ill be withdrawing my seat this week. I got accepted to my home state. This schools amazing, so I hope who ever gets my seat loves the program just as much as I do!

Very nice! I saw your fresh acceptance the other day! That's pretty awesome. You simply can't mess with Texas. Congrats and good luck!

damn u!!!

For anyone doing the 1-yr masters at MWU in IL or AZ, did you have to update grades through AADSAS to get your interview or did the dental committee get your grades through the school?

Thank you! Best of look to you as well.

Thanks for the reply kwol! What is your view on the pros/cons/difficulty of the MA program?

The MA program is a) good transition from undergrad to professional school b) looks good in an interview etc.. Easy to talk about science stuff c) pretty difficult. Which is why it's a good transition. I think it's the only reason I got in at both MWU campuses and literally no where else. Oh well, I'll be a dentist in 4 years!

I actually did not receive an interview with either school even though I graduated. So I contacted the schools in February and they set me up for interviews in march. I found out after I was already waitlisted that I was suppose to send my official transcripts to both schools. I attended in Glendale and i had to order a transcript to be sent to the Dental admissions office in glendale. I'm sitting on both waitlists and I am scratching my head as to why the information isn't shared on a central profile since you are already apart of the school.

Accepted Today! Dr. Zais called around 11:00 central time. Interviewed September 10th! Finally! :highfive::clap::soexcited::wow::banana::biglove:

Does anyone who has gotten accepted off the alternate list have any advice/tips that they can share on how to increase the chance of getting accepted?

I have been on the alternate list at Midwestern since December and I have sent them letters showing my interest in the school. I am really desperate to go to this school so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Last time I called they had over 170 on their alternate list and they also had people on a wait list. Alternate list is people that interviewed but no acceptance.

I don't quite understand - what is the difference between "wait list" and "alternate list"?

You have an advantage at this school if you are LDS
