The Official Touro Class of 2020 Interview/Acceptance Thread

The interview experience was absolutely amazing. I got to speak to a lot of faculty members individually as there were more than 8 of them. The faculty members are absolutely approachable and easy to talk too. I personally spoke with the dean about the clinical equipment that they are planning on getting as he said " they are looking for the most advanced ones in the market as they want the school to be up to date with the dental advancements happening nowadays" I know it seems underdeveloped to some, but NYMC's records seem pretty solid and the history of the school is incredible in several health profession fields, so I doubt their dental program will be any less. The NYMC campus is going to be less than 5 mins walking after cutting the trees, which allow the students to access lot of facilities in addition to the dental building (IBM headquarters building). If you are looking for a school where you have the ability to make a difference, be one of the first alumni to support a school and watch it grow , help in setting up a unique vision for the school, takes roles in leadership, Serve a community with minimal oral care, build a relationship with your faculty members, diverse perfect size class, live 40 mins away from NYC, Definitely TOURO is the right place for you!! Cheers, I hope this post helps.

So interview experience. It was messy imo. I really wanted to see clinic but there was nothing to see. No clinic no sim lab. Renovation looks like will not be done in anytime soon. Location is bit problem because there is really nothing except school and jail. This worries me a bit about patients pool. Only thing that was good was food.

I think the interview experience was absolutely amazing.

interviewing monday, im staying at my friend's house in the upper east side though. i'm also looking forward to hunting for that infamous sushi burrito

I hope so. It may going to take couple days for the result.

They said they are going to email us As soon as they get the accredition

Sushi wrapped in a big seaweed wrapper. Not native to NYC and over-rated.

probably not too different from regular rolls or kimbab(korean dish), it sounds like.
well, if i see it, i might want to try though.

I've never tried it, but if you google images, I swear you will start drooling.

they don't look too bad! actually, if it's filled with cooked meat, I'd eat it!
if it's filled with slimy sashimi, it might just be too much due to its shear size.

Heads up to those who live in the area, I canceled my interview scheduled for next week. Try giving the office a call if you want a sooner interview. Good luck everyone!

Interviewed here last week and I was not impressed. The faculty was really nice but we didn't even tour the facilities. Obviously the clinics aren't needed yet but not even the sim labs?? Also, the information session was pretty uninformative. People told me it's risky going to a first year program and now I see why. I'd go here because I haven't been accepted anywhere else yet but I'm strongly considering just reapplying.

For those of you who have had interviews at Touro, what do you think is best way to prepare for it (in regards to the actual 30 minute interview process itself)? Any resources would be highly appreciated!

Thank you for the prompt reply. Of course I agree that being yourself is a given, however I was moreso interested in knowing for instance what types (not asking for specifics) of questions will be asked, whether the interviewers have a sense of humour or not, if there is more than one interviewer per person, how strongly our previous academic performance is probed, etc. I am particularly curious because for established schools there are pools of questions to expect, but obviously not for Touro.

I was also wondering, although I am not sure if anyone knows the honest answer, whether everyone has an equal chance of gaining admission once they've made the interview stage or is some interviewees have preference due to higher grades & DATs for e.g.

Thanks!

You have to be prepared for ANYTHING. That's how interviews work.

I know a lot of people asked about accreditation. They said coda already passed them, federal standards. The state passing them is all that was left and they did it last Monday Tuesday and Wednesday and Dr. Steinberg said it looked good

Then I guess that means we should be hearing first round of acceptances/rejections/waitlists soon?

I'm signed up for the morning interview next Monday. I noticed that we have an informal breakfast and lunch. How did that work out? Should I bring a sack lunch or is everything provided? Also what was the campus tour like? I noticed that it's two hours, but how do they coordinate giving people tours and doing individual interviews? Are you just walking around and then just leave at your allotted time? Finally, what's the difference between the campus tour and the tour of skyline facilities? I'm guessing they're different parts of the campus or something, but can someone who's gone through the interview give us a run down of what happened?

hey guys, i have yet to hear about any interview date or any response, apparently all of my application was submitted on feb 12th ... =x i'm assuming i have no chance in getting accepted... although on the aadea site it does say everything has been accepted.

Don't bring a lunch, you'll get out by one, and the rest is pretty straightforward. There isn't much to tour because they haven't set anything up yet. They can't till they get accreditation

are you saying you been invited for interview but haven't received any interview dates yet? if so yes call the school.

But if youre saying you applied and haven't heard anything then thats normal. Myself and a lot of other people are in the same boat. I applied back in janurary

just found out from ada-coda ppt that accreditation happens in july/august. school must not be opening this year.
