Lol, how I'm feeling. I was completed on 7/25, so I'm trying to stalk all the interviewees complete dates. I think the latest one I've heard so far was the 12th or 13th?
 
So I got my packet in the mail, it says a confirmation form is included to send back but I can't find the form, just the schedule, letter, and some pamphlets for hotels. Anyone else??

(For those who haven't recieved it yet-- I'm in North Carolina so west coast/Midwest people might have theirs still on the way)

So apparently whoever was putting the packets together forgot to include the form, lol. I called and confirmed my email address and the person I spoke to emailed it to me. I'm guessing if all of the packets are like that they will send a mass email because I'm sure others will be calling
 
Yea I'll call in tom to figure it out - what all are you guys doing in terms of hotel accommodations - those were some pricy hotels!

Luckily I have friends in philly who I can stay with but I'd check air bnb. That's what I'm doing for another interview and it's much cheaper!
 
Maybe I'm just being paranoid but for those of you that have received your packet, what is your state of residency? I'm freaking out lol
 
Are these packets that everyone's discussing only sent after email interview invites? I got a packet a long time ago (beginning of July) with info on the school but that was even before my app was complete there. Anyone else get that?

Yeah everyone gets that. There's another packet after you receive an invite.
 
For those that haven't received interviews yet - what is the date of your AADSAS status (under review)

Also, is everyone getting first by email and then by post? Or do I have to monitor by mailbox every day to make sure I'm not missing anything?
 
My AADSAS Status has not changed from Received/Application Complete to Received/Under Review. Did anyone's change to under review? I am application complete 7/14.

I've been "Received/Under Review" the whole time. I don't recall ever being as "Received/Conplete" but I have an email from UPenn saying my app is complete.

Now that I look at it I don't have any "Received/Complete" from any schools and I have gotten complete emails from almost all of them (and some invites as well).

Yeah I got that email too on 7/14 and it says that "PDM does not use the AADSAS portal to notify applicants regarding status changes." So maybe the AADSAS status doesn't mean anything.

Do you have any idea if Penn will send invites weekly this year? It looked like every Friday last year, but it seems they started on a Tuesday or something this year and handed out invites for a couple days? Just curious if I should get my hopes up for tomorrow. o.o
 
They haven't really told us much other than one tidbit at orientation. If I recall correctly, a faculty member said that 30% of invites will be sent out by september? Its early though. I didn't get an invite til November 13th (it was a Friday lol). @Meeza

Great question. It was not the only school I got into. I got into VCU and UCSF also. The problem is with the limitations of your decision making process-you have only whats on paper really. Yes, I could have saved a lot by going to UCSF. Its a personal decision though. There were factors that led me to upenn (faculty are outstanding, liked philly, etc). Upenn was the last school I got into. I think getting into the other schools first made me want upenn more.

The other justification I had was that I wanted what I thought was the best opportunity for myself. I wanted to have the best instruction, and I wanted to surround myself with highly motivated people. I do love to learn, and I am drawn to a certain specialty though 😉

Long story short, wait til you interview/visit schools. The least expensive school that I applied to was a great school, but I didn't fit in well there.

Edit: at the end of the day, if money is the biggest factor then never ever mention it in an interview.. Dentists live comfortably and the last thing you want is to have people think you are in it for the money... Ethically you want to be the best dentist you can be.. I chose the university that I thought would facilitate that
 
did anyone get a confirm that admissions received their supplemental? I emailed my supplemental to the email address as specified on the website. I checked my account statement and saw that they cashed my check ( which I mailed). I submitted my aadsas in early June but took my DAT in the beginning of august. My dat was recently connected with my application. Hopefully, im not too late to the interview game, i love this school.
 
For those of you who received interviews, did you guys book your flight right after you scheduled your interview date? Or did you wait until you got the interview packet in the mail before booking a flight?
 
My status changed from Completed (7/25ish) to Under Review (8/23) on AADSAS. Any idea what this means
 
Anyone in the second wave of interviews get their packet in the mail yet?

What is in the packet? I haven't received mine yet, is there anything important inside like a confirmation that we need to do for the interview?
 
Hi Everyone! D1 at Penn here 🙂 Congratulations to those who have already received interviews. Dropped by the admissions office yesterday and first interview date is 9/8 and it'll be every Thursday and Friday from then until March-ish. Not sure how often they send out interview invites, but don't stress. I actually miss the excitement of interviews (and later once you know you've been admitted) so cherish it while it lasts!
 
Not to discourage anyone (as the problem is likely ME not the submit dates) but I was complete 7/15 and still haven't heard back 😛
