***The Official VCU Dental Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Where you guys on the waitlist? i was under the impression that people who interviewed in february would have their portal updated first and them get a call. Anyways congrats to both of you guys.
 
those of you who got a call from dr. healy....did AADSAS change to "offer made" before the call? Or can you check now to see if it says "offer made"?

I got the call and my portal still says "Invited for Interview." My interview was January 29th.
 
Congrats!! Are calls still being made the rest of this week?
 
Will D5 and wait list be rolled out? or have those designations occurred yet?
 
I believe they said the class was going to be filled. People could still back out and spots could open up this way. I also thought they said D.5 offers would come in March. I could be wrong though.
 
so today was the last day dr. healy was making calls? except for d.5 and waitlist? B/c those who reject their seats will probs go to waitlisted people

😕 If you are right, then that is it for having more interviews even in Marm am I right? 🙁
 
My AADSAS portal has changed to "Offer Made" and I received a call earlier today.
 
congrats everyone. I interviewed Nov 6 and was hoping to get in. Looks like it might not be a possibility though.
 
Question- has anyone who interviewed the last week (Feb 11-12) heard back?
 
Just got off the phone with Mrs. Tweedy. She said they are not sure if the class has been filled yet (so I guess they have given out enough offers, just waiting to hear back) and that waitlist and d.5 should be getting calls in the next few days

Does anyone know if D5 can be eligible for graduate level financial aid? Are you categorized as an undergrad still or do you have access to some of the loans like the plus loans the regular dental students get.

no clue, but have you gotten a D5 offer or are you just asking?
 
for those of you still waiting to hear back - don't give up yet. another date you should all be aware of is april 1st. this is the deadline for anyone with multiple deposits to make a final decision and give up other seats. every year this will free up a few more seats as many people are holding a seat at other schools while waiting to hear back from their state school. it worked for me last year. i interviewed in february and was accepted in april and i know others in my class who were accepted even later.

also, VCU is an awesome school. so glad i chose to come here over the other schools i was accepted to. i love the program and my family loves richmond. good luck everyone.

I interviewed on September 25th. Have been waiting a while for today, but so thrilled! Will definitely be accepting and attending VCU next year. Good luck to everyone and just stay positive. I had corresponded with Dr. Healy they day before I got my call and his exact words were "Remain positive and focused on your goal".

Does anyone have any idea if the class has been filled?
I was told during the interview that we should hear something this week but I haven't heard anything yet.. 🙁

Still a few calls to make about inviting into the class. Then the 8 to 10 people invited onto the waiting list then 8-10 D.5 spots to call about.

April 1st people need that 2nd deposit in. Then when those dont come in about 3-7 wait listers get in. The D5ers are locked into they 2018 class.....just dont get a C.

Thiese groups should shake up the play out this week.
 
Really hoping for a call this week. I really want to end up at VCU!

Hey for FAFSA do we just put VCU in (code 003735) or is there a separate code for the dental school?
 
nah just trying to get my FAFSA done. It's due tonight or tomorrow I think

I'm pretty sure that they told us to just put the VCU code in for FAFSA. At least that is what I did for mine. 🙂
 
Couple things:

Fafsa for graduate/professional school is NOT due today. Just for the undergrad institution. If you think you may be returning to undergrad for another year then by all means fill it out. But I called Ms. Tweedy and she said there is no specific deadline. They recommend filling out the Fafsa by May 1.

She also said she was in the process of sending out updates (this was a couple hours ago, she made it seem like she was literally doing that as we spoke). I'm sorry for everyone who received a rejection. For everyone who interviewed and hasn't heard back (which includes me) she said that VCU was waiting on other people to send back deposits and they would send out further offers from there. It made it sound like they've sent out the max # of acceptances and they are going to determine how many more to send out based on the number they receive... hope that makes sense.

I was accepted to my state school on Feb 26th. I loved VCU but my state school will save me 80 grand before interest. So good news for you guys! An OOS spot will open up for someone. Good luck everybody!

Did any of you do the VCU summer enrichment program ?
 
Sadly declined my OOS today as well. Loved the school but just wasn't the best place for me at this time. Best of luck to all of your on the alternate list in landing my spot!
 
Does anyone know if all the alternate spots have been given? I take it the class is full since alternate spots have already been given.
