Anyone hear anything from UTSW lately? I guess Baylor is supposed to finish making decisions in 2 weeks (an email from the dean was sent out). I wonder if there has been any recent movement.😎

It snowed up here in denton too. We were outside playing soccer with the dog (the same giant one in my avatar) and all of a sudden my step sister looked up and yelled "ITS SNOWING!!!". it was pretty exciting. April.... in Texas.... snow.....
Yeah, it was snowing in D/FW today too. I got home from there late last night, and my real estate agent joked that if I had stayed the night I would've seen some snow.
Congrats!!I just realized I graduate in just more than a month. I really can't believe it. I have to pick up my announcements from the MSC tomorrow. It goes back to that I've worked so hard to get into medical school so now what do I do feeling 🙂/😱
Congrats!!
But beware, Aggie ceremonies are unbelievably long and boring. My family was hopeful it would be short since they break up the services. No luck. Still 4+ hrs long.
Did you go to ring dance or are you flipping your ring at the ceremony? (I missed my ring dance so I flipped mine after I walked).
On the subject of announcements - is it appropriate to put a note inside stating not to send gifts? I really don't want people to fell obligated, I just want it to be an announcement and not a request for gifts or money.

Did everyone get an email? I'm just wondering because I interviewed and haven't heard anything since. I don't care about getting in cuz I'm happy where I'm going but I still think its a little rude not to inform everyone of what's going on

Tell them to f*** off. It'll be hard to beat the 5% on your Perkins loans....Hey do any of you have any Perkins Loans?
My primary lender may have given Educational Direct my loan info and now they keep bothering me about consolidating. I was on the phone with them for the last several days because I thought they were my primary lender till I figured out they weren't. And they were so rude and pushy and keep spamming my mailbox.
I believe that at UTSW, most students get at least 1500 in grants, but this is not guaranteed and has nothing to do with being a TX resident.I remember hearing during interviews that Texas residents get $1500/year in grant money for medical school. Do any of you guys remember hearing that, or is it just wishful thinking on my part?

I just have a Stafford loan but I still get info about consolidating all the time. It could just be a school/lender thing where anyone with a loan gets their info given out to consolidation places. I haven't gotten phone calls though, just tons of mail.

The fact that they are so pushy would make me nervous, and what they are offering you sounds too good to be true. Watch for adjustable rates and/or hidden fees (including huge interest rate increases if you miss a payment,) but otherwise, it doesn't sound like a bad deal, actually.these guys say i can consolidate any combination or all of my loans, not even just perkins, and if i sign up for direct checking payments, they'll lower the rate to 4.75% and then after a certain number of payments, to 3.5%.
They claim no fees and to be partnered with my primary lender. The thing that turned me off to it was that the reps were so pushy and wouldn't take no for an answer - I would have just ignored them, but for a while I didn't know whether they were part of my primary lender or not.

i just read about some guy being dropped from a some school for not sending some letter in after he got accepted. Did anyone who got into UT Houston send in their stuff. i sent in my scholarship stuff and ethical pledge and welcome weekend stuff but was there anything like that we had to send in or a deposit to hold our spot. i don't think there was but i just got paranoid. Thanks

But I still have much love for me Houston peeps 😍
FWIW, I think you made the right choice. Good Luck, Have Fun, and Stay out of Trouble 😉Final decision: Baylor

Funny thing: I made a chart.Ana!!!! Oh how I will miss you!!! It is funny because I was just talking to my dad about how I was wondering what you were going to pick. I take it they matched (or at least got close) to the UTH offer? Or is all that money up for grabs for me now 🙂 (wishful thinking).
Congrats though on finally making the decision. I know it was hard 🙂
Funny thing: I made a chart.
I kid you not... a written out chart with all the pros and cons. Then I talked it over with my sisters and they had this advice: If money was nothing at all, where would you rather go? After thinking about it for awhile I knew Baylor was the right choice.
I've never made a fiscally irresponsible move in my entire life (I picked A&M based on the scholarship) - and my oldest sister pointed out that we're talking about an extra 6 months of work once I actually reach my full earning potential.

Say if you got accepted to Texas med school 1 then got off the waitlist on Texas med school 2. How long do you have to decide which one to accept and which one to decline? 2 weeks? Til June 15? It would be really uh... let's say, crappy, if someone in this situation wait til June 15 to make their decision
page 3? what is this?
oh, yeah. just haven't had much to post about. every time I visit the forums I feel inadequate, like I'll never get into med school 🙁Hey! Long time no see!!
I thought the immunology book had swallowed you at last, as it's been threatening to swallow me lately. I need this year to be over already. 🙁

that last exam was brutal though.
have you checked out the book on reserve yet?
I need to do that. At least it's almost over.Yeah, I already have my copies. It's around 32 pages total. 🙁
Oh man - THAT is a sweet deal!I need to do that. At least it's almost over.
And since you're a graduating senior, you won't have to take the final.
