What'd she wear? I saw a few women who weren't aware that they needed some pointers (although not at A&M, as I didn't interview there). The most common error was to go with what somebody on SDN very aptly called "business sexual."

It was really strange because I even really thought what she wore was nice. She had a nice suit, button up white shirt with cute thin red stripes, skirt that fell below the knee when standing and just barely above the knee when sitting. she even wore panty hose! (which I believe are a MUST, at least here in Texas, to look professional). She wore flats too. That was the only part I could figure out. Maybe her interviewer didn't like that. Even Filo said he couldn't think of why she would have been inappropriate. We always joke in my sorority that to be appropriate there should be "no crack of any kind" which rules out too low pants and too low shirts 🙂

Weird. Maybe the interviewer was having a bad day. 😕 Or made his note on the wrong file.

I know it's all normal, though, as I've been told over and over that everyone gets cold feet before school starts. They even cracked a joke at the MS0 weekend (one of the professors) that pre-meds spend their whole undergrad careers worrying about getting into medical school, so when they finally get in, they feel strange because they have nothing to worry about, so they'll start getting worried about medical school and the future. 😉

you know, you might have something there. maybe that's what I'm doing instead of being excited. it's been a while since i've looked forward to something academically. : /

but i think i am too much of an obsessive not to worry about somethign so i guess ill keep second guessing and worrying till the day it starts

Yeah, I think it does suck that one interviewer messed up/had a bad day/just in a bad mood and now my friend doesn't have the chance to go to A&M, but she is in at Tech, and she waitlisted at UTH (her top) so in the end she'll still be a doctor.

And on the cold feet note.... I'm not worried about med school so much. I mean the hard work will suck but I'll have to suck it up and drink more coffee (I LOVVVEEEEEEEE coffee), and I'm just so certain that no matter how bad anything could get this is absolutely what I want to do, but what has hit me all of a sudden is that I will be living practically by myself in a HUGE city (Houston). I just all of a sudden had a vision of me sitting alone in my apartment because I don't know enough people to go do anything. I know once school gets going I'll be able to make friends because I cook 🙂 but until I get to know people..... it just seems scary. I think I'll be driving to College Station/home for a while until school starts

I am also feeling the doubt and uncertainty that some of yall are describing, but i have a feeling it will pass as it gets closer to start time. Oh and back to page 1 😀

I have reached the epitome of procrastination, working on a research paper that was assigned to me 2 months ago one day before it's due. I'm 2/3 through....:scared:

I also have an exam on Wednesday. That comes after I finish this.

Anyway, I just wanted to share. Say no to procrastination. 👎

Say YES to "re-prioritization." :meanie:

It's a true art.

UPDATE: Due to an unbelievable lucky event that involves the professor going momentarily crazy, my exam has been moved until Wednesday of next week. I'm dancing with joy!! 😀

👍 You can put off studying for at least another week!

 Exactly. (It's the exact thing my roomate said to me).

ANOTHER UPDATE: Research paper is now done, I just need to proof read and organize. Yay!! After I turn it in tomorrow at 8am, I will continue with my procrastination rituals.

Senioritis at its best.

Aren't you glad you didn't study earlier. You would have forgotten everything by exam time! 😀

I want a Bagel. Or a Dr. Bagel. Freakin Passover

gawd i want a break... a real break... the one that comes with beaches, a good book, and no med school applications/schoolwork worries.

okay... 10 seconds too many wasted in dreamland... UTSW adcom would spit on me if they saw me slacking like this.

I want a break with a beach and a book, too. 🙁 Let's forget about all this med school craziness, move to a beach, get a job as waters/waitresses or soemthing, and live a bohemian life.

Has there been any waitlist movement for TCOM at all?

La Vie Bohem!

Apparently there's been some limited movement, but they don't anticipate any significant changes until May or June.

Back to page 1.

you sure do bump alot. you could at least write something else to bump this thread, like what's going on in your life, what tv shows you like, if you farted just now, etc.

Speaking of texas being the home of chuck norris....

On Valentines Day, Chuck Norris gives his wife the still beating heart of one of his enemies. Being very romantic, Chuck Norris believes every day should be Valentines Day.

P.S. I wasn't born in texas, but i got here as fast as i could.

It's snowing here in Massachusetts. SNOWING! In April!
Makes me want to cry. 🙁

Back in West Texas my parents are having sand storms, and we just had a tornado a few days ago.

Usually, this season of the year isn't that good in terms of weather for us either...if that makes you feel any better.

But yeah, snow in April is plain weird. 🙁

Yeah I get the Waco news down here and apparently the weather up there was just terrible! we are getting a cold front down here now. I don't like the cold. I'd rather be hot. I know in theory I should want to be cold because I can always put on more clothing but that's never how it works out, I just end up cold and grouchy. At least when I'm hot I'm not feeling grouchy.

It's kind of cold here, too, even though yesterday it was HOT. Weird Texas weather, gotta love it.

I'm actually one of those people who love cold/gray/rainy days, they just make me happy every time. The only downside is that for some reason, cold weather means more trips to the bathroom.

OMG it's snowing outside right now. It was like 60 yesterday

and if you like gloomy weather come here. At work we used to check off on the calender how many days it's been since we have seen the sun. Once we knocked out just about the whole month 👎

hah, that made me lol. oh gosh guys have we really succumbed to the small talk that is weather now? jk 😉

So why are you still in Texas? 🙂 I too like rain and cooler weather, so my stint in Texas was absolutely miserable to me from a weather perspective. The fact that everyone seemed so freaking ecstatic that it was always above 80 didn't do much to improve my mood. 😡 Yeah, I get it -- you'd rather have 6 months of summer than six months of winter. Yeah, you'd rather it be too hot than too cold. That doesn't mean it doesn't suck. 😉

As you can probably guess, unlike Aggiesarah, heat, not cold weather, makes me grouchy. 🙂

I'll trade you. I can take the heat.

Until you stand outside walking form one end of campus to the other with heavy wind and it's already near/below 0 W/O windchill you don't know cold.

I crank up the heat in my car when I drive too... I mean it's like a sauna.. I love it

Here in Austin, it has been raining almost non-stop for the past month or 2. I know you hate Austin too, and don't believe that it's different than the rest of TX, but we typically have a very mild rainy Spring but a sweltering dry Summer. I think too much rain is depressing 🙁 but fortunately, I'm so, so, so, so busy right now that I don't have much time to be depressed by the weather 🙂 (except for the fact that I can't drive my sports cars -- yes, I'm totally OCD about my cars looking their best, and I don't like to drive them in the rain, so I'm ready for the rainy season to be over.)

But you're definitely right that it doesn't get "cool" here. Maybe for a day or two in Jan./Feb. but that's about it.

No place has "perfect" weather except Southern California, but the price you pay for that is just way too high, IMHO.

No one in their right mind wants to live in Southern California. I can't even afford to drive through it, let alone live in one of their 500,000 1bd condos.

I might do some hopping around the country for a while until I find a good place...although something tells me I will end up where I started....

Everyone wants to live in Southern California. That is why the prices are so ridiculously high. I lived in San Diego for 14 years before moving to Texas. I would love to go back, but chose to stay in Texas b/c of the cost.

It seems that way...which is why I inserted the "in their right mind" into the sentence.

I've been to SoCal, and to tell you the truth, I was not impressed. I am not much for the Californian culture of fashion or thinking, so I think I'd be much better off in the south or the east/northeast side of the country when it comes down to it.

Does anyone know if there has been any movement on the A&M or TCOM Wait Lists? Also, did anyone else apply to the UNT-HSC Medical Sciences Master's Program?

Yeah, I think weather's largely a matter of picking what you mind the least and going for that. Since I don't mind rain but don't like it to be hot, I didn't mind the Pacific Northwest at all, but other people hate it. Socal would probably be too sunny for me. I could take it by the coast, but I wouldn't like to live in the desert part. Also, I like seasons, so I'd be a bit bummed about not having any -- that's one of the things that bummed me out about living in Austin.

I'm one of those weirdos who likes to get outside and minimize time in my car -- I actually walked or rode my bike almost everywhere in Austin -- so the weather is pretty important to me. Most people I knew just never went outside.

I'd pick socal over Texas because of the coast (yeah, I know Texas has one, too), mountains, slightly better weather, more liberal attitudes, etc., but I'd prefer northern California, Oregon, Washington, and maybe Colorado over socal. 🙂 Of course, I've been primarily exposed to the worst parts of socal because my relatives live in stinking San Bernadino county -- total suburban armpit area, but houses still cost $600k. If I spent more time in LA proper or San Diego, I might feel differently.

well it was posted about 10 posts back that there has been limited movement on the TCOM waitlist. both TCOM and TAMU don't expect much movement until may . i'm currently in the UNTHSC MS program, and i think if i heard right the deadline has passed for applying to the program.

Thanks for the info. By the way, I love your username. Yes the deadline has passed, I already applied and I'm just waiting to see if I got accepted. The website says they release admissions decisions on April 18th. Do you like the program?

It's beautiful here now... nice cool weather for once. I took my nephew mini golfing and he loved it. So funny though - people had sweaters on. It was in the lower 70s and people had SWEATERS on... what the?

You got to wear 'em sometimes. 🙂

LOL

I love winter clothes...you know, sweaters, coats, scarves, boots, etc, and I'm always looking for an excuse to wear them, so I get disappointed when it's December/January in Texas and it's 80 degrees outside.

I'm thinking of moving up north just so I can wear them.

It gets old, though, six or seven or eight months later when you're still wearing them.

Yeah, I remember using days where the high was going to be 68 as an excuse to wear a wool sweater. 😉

whoa now that is hardcore. haha. if i put on a sweater (let alone a wool one) at any temp above 50, i'd probably sweat like crazy.

Then you should save the wool sweaters for inside in the middle of the summer because it feels like they cool all the buildings to around 50. Texans love their AC. 😉
