My RCW and validation date just changed (now 1/7/08). No clue what that means. Nothing has changed with me since I submitted my application.
It means something good may happen to you.

you didnt send in a new transcript? its weird that your RCW would change if you hadn't sent one in.
ah, I finally got a RCW update.. but I did send them a transcript. no validation date though.
ok, strange.. my RCW changed, but my number of hours and GPA hasn't changed..
One of my interviews at UTH basically made me repeat my entire interview even though he had read it already. Imagine listing out every single EC you've done.
Anyway, i don't mean to scare anyone. Some interviews are more enthusiastic than others. I think I got a dud.
did you have the guy with the accent that asked the robot/computer dr. machine question?
I'm 27 but feel like I'm 21... I've been in grad school since undergrad and still live like a poor student. I never partied because I worked all the way through undergrad, and that hasn't changed either. Um, I'm one of the youngest people in my lab, and get treated like a kid by the older techs and post-docs. I get carded the few times a year I do go out and have a drink!
However, I do own a house, am a mom to three dogs and two cats, am married to a wonderful partner, and feel like I'm 80 when my rheumatoid arthritis kicks in!!
I guess it all balances out in the end...

Haha, we'll i've seen you in person, and I can see why they'd card you. You do not look 27 at all. 🙂
So is that a good thing or a bad thing for a med school applicant?? Kidding... Thanks! I was born in 1980 - not a difficult year and got carded on my 25th B-day - again, not a difficult age. Tried to order a margarita at dinner after telling the waitress we were there celebrating my birthday. It was so much fun to watch her try to figure out on her fingers how old I was that it was worth getting carded!!
So how are you feeling? Get rid of that nasty bug yet?
Haha, you should've told her "You don't have enough fingers to count that far"![]()
Yeah, i'm on a course of Azithromycin, so i've been up and running again. I'm at work, but my head is somewhere else ......... 😳

Holy crap, there's a guy that asks robot doctor questions? Awesome!
I hope you feel better! How's the prep going for UTSW?
I'll jump on the bandwagon my rcw changed, though I've been graduated since july. Got a validation date too. No reason why, am interviewing at houston tomorrow, I'm sure they just decided to go ahead and accept based on my picture I sent to them 😉
I wouldn't laugh. It was by far the most difficult interview I've had.
Calicocat, don't feel too bad. When my sister was about 19 or 20 she went to a restaurant with a couple of friends her age (1 male and 1 female). The waitress gave her a coloring menu and crayons 'cause she thought my sis was their daughter haha.
I got carded once at a rated R flick in my early twenties🙄.
I remember once going with a much older lady friend of mine (40 yrs or so) to the grocery store, she wanted to get some cigs. When the boy behind the counter asked for her ID, she burst out laughing and thaking the kid for making her feel young again. It was hilarious and more importantly it made here day .... or maybe week.![]()

Another story about the UTH mixer. I went with my husband and on the way home our car was shot at and hit by someone with a paintball gun with hot pink paint balls. It was my husband's car and left dents so he was angry about that. I just hoped it wasn't a bad omen.
I'll bet your husband had stubble, which is why he passed for >21. I have lots of friends who can avoid getting carded (I'm only 20) by not shaving for a couple days. Maybe you should try that 😉?I got carded at a casino on my honeymoon when I was 30. My husband is almost 5 years younger than me and the guy didn't give him a second look. If at any time I need to piss him off, I just have to bring up that story.

Are you serious? Wow ........ by the way, you interviewed at St. Louis too Jolie, didn't you? How was it, worth going?
i thought validation date just means they've verified your grades vs your transcript.I think a validation date means very good news on February first. How long have you had a v.date?

If you get him, just know that he is looking for very specific answers. So if he keeps shooting down every single thing you say, just keep on going.

nope, i didn't, but there are a number of OOS schools I can tell you about if you're interested. 🙂

I just checked it this morning and it changed. It must have changed sometime late last week.
1000 baby!!
I got carded for the early bird special at IHOP last Sunday.
[Rim shot] 👍

yes, this was what i did, but on the spot it's hard to come up with FIVE advantages and disadvantages especially when he says that some of the ones you come up with don't "count".
eventually, i gave up.![]()

In the name of the great Sam Houston, I bump for the Republic. This thread is never less than page one material...

When I was 18, I once tried to get into this lounge-type place that I thought was 18 and up. It ended up being 21 and up, but it was funny watching the bouncer try to figure out my age, even though it clearly said "UNDER 21" in big bold letters on my ID. It took him a good 3-4 seconds before he finally got it. 🙄

Are you serious? Where in H-town was this, around the rice village area? No luck catching the punks?
Do you think that if I left an offering at the foot of his statue in Huntsville, that I could get into school in Houston?
Man, that makes for a crappy interview day, but it sounds like both of you managed to keep things under control.
Does everyone who is holding a pre-match acceptance have a validation date?
Do you think that if I left an offering at the foot of his statue in Huntsville, that I could get into school in Houston?
most people dont have a validation date, so the fact that you have one is good.I've had 4 pre-match offers and my validation is still at 111407.
It's always worth a shot... superstitious offerings can't be bad if they work!
How are things going with the hubby's apps? I was telling a fellow foreigner about the cost and hassle you described in having the transcripts/paperwork sent over. He looked at me, shook his head, and started a rant about 3rd world countries, corruption, and how getting to practice medicine in the States was a hassle for him since his university back home kept losing the requests he sent, and needed more money of course. He had to pay thousands of dollars to have all his paperwork transcribed and validated. Daylight robbery, I tell you!

A similar thing happened to a friend, but it was for a PG13 movie! She's 26!
On the entrance ramp for 59 South at Kirby. Totally freaked me out since I was driving. The police wanted me to go to a substation and wait to be processed. I was not going to do that with an interview the next day!

Guys, at the risk of interrupting the ongoing mass migration to OCD, the LMU, RCW, and validation dates have zip to do with getting in. Validation happens to EVERYONE who gets an interview, accepted or not....they're just verifying that your RCW matches your official transcripts. That's it.🙁
Man, KSZ, couldn't you just let the rumors/suspicion/obsession/frustration/neurosis with this stuff continue? Way to go bringing us back to reality... yet again!

They have your personal statement and the summary sheet from TMDSAS. At least that is all both of my interviewers had.Anyone happen to know if houston interviews are open file, closed, or that one where they know everything about you except your gpa and mcat?

If I don't, I'll be seein' you guys in a few years on my psych rotations (most likely inpatient)....not the circumstances under which I'd like to meet other sdn members.😛
It does seem odd that it changes for no apparent reason for some and not others. There's got to be something to it one way or another. Otherwise why have them to begin with? It's fun to wax-OCD and speculate...don't be a buzzkill. 😀
