still wishing for it....come on loyola, you're my most realistic first choice outside of TX schools.

i thought loyola calls?
-mota

4 weeks? 8 weeks? i thought loyola took 11 days...we aren't gonna hear by the 30th?

wtf.

wave of envelopes for acceptances? Good luck to all of you waiting!! I'm still waiting for a phone call for an invite.....hopefully we will all be lucky and get a chance.

Hope your thanksgivings went well!! I know I ate tooooooooo much.

Any word yet for those of you still waiting? If not... GOOD LUCK, my thoughts are with you!

My thoughts are on how much frickin food I ate this week. I was the opposite of "The Biggest Loser." I could see myself expanding as I plopped on my butt and watched dog show on Thursday afternoon. Pathetic.

Oh yeah, still no word. I think they heard from St. Mary's (my elementary school) about how I was expelled from school for one day because of an "improper and immature comment" made on my 8th grade religion test. IT's 8th grade!! Of course I was immature! Geez Loyola, if you are going to hold that against me! I also got a JUG (Justice under God) for wearing nailpolish to school one day--as if God doesn't have better things to worry about than what nail polish I was wearing. Loyola, you're making me nervous! 😱

yeah i kinda gave up on them since I was complete in september. I wonder how much chance I realistically have to get an interivew. 🙄

I visited with a friend who is M1 there, and fell in love even more! I was introduced to many of the profs and to the admissions office staff (who already knew me as I hand delivered everything so I could rest assured it got there). The very next day I mailed a letter proclaiming my true love for Loyola above all other schools, and my friend and an alum are going to try to help me.... but no phone call yet 🙁 I really want to go there so bad that I cannot soothe my soul with the whole "it is still early" story.

Is everyone else waiting for envelopes post-interview, or are there others waiting for that phone call? I know Mota is vice-president of my "Where is the Love from Loyola" club, right Mota?

AARRGGGGHHHHHH!!! Sniff.... pardon me as I wipe the tears from my eyes. Doesn't help that I had a really HORRIBLE holiday! I mean BAD - my family is going to hell in a hand basket - they all suddenly hate each other! The whole family thing did not do too much for my already wonderful mood. 🙁 My uncle told me that he did not want to associate with the family anymore as all people suck, and I am a person, so I suck too. He actually gave me lecture about how I am chopping off my husband's male member (trying to be polite here) by going to medical school, and that my husband will end up cheating on me as he will suffer from "rich-wife" syndrome, meaning he will feel insignificant or something (my husband is the only one who truly supports me, so all of that is BS, but still)...and my aunt is a nurse and she constantly puts me down and treats me like crap for wanting to be a doctor.... that is the kind of support I get from my family, great isn't it? Anyone else having this problem?

OOOPPSS...sorry, I seem to have spilled out my overly depressing guts all over the floor of this post. Sorry guys! Just keep wishing me luck, and I will continue to do the same for all of you.
:luck:

Still waitingfor some heavy petting from Stritch Timmy.

Sorry about the family stuff. Was "NightTrain" being consumed at this gathering by chance? That particular beverage usually brings out nothing but hate. I just don't understand why everyone can't just eat their damn turkey, smile for the damn family photo, and talk about each other behind everyone's backs! Now THAT's family--at least my family. 😉

Or not talk at all...that's my family. The minute anyone does talk, plates fly, bones get broken, etc.
Side note, while we're venting: I left all of my 2x2 pictures at work in MA, and I'm back at home in DE now and need to bring a picture with me to my next interview on Wednesday...I think this is very weird, especially b/c I think I already mailed in a picture with my application. Anyway, I went to get a picture taken and it is HEINOUS. Deer in headlights, random stray hairs sticking out, etc. But I'm too lazy (lots of turkey does that to me) and broke to get another one. They won't care, right? And, really, should I care? I want to go to Loyola anyway!!!

Best of luck to everyone waiting this week. In addition to crossing my fingers, I'll also cross my toes and legs. Hey, it worked for Flop!!!

Everyone used to be close, and then suddenly they all wanted to slit each other's throats...like a light switch was thrown from friendly to deadly. Oh well, there is nothing I can do about it now, maybe people will come around as time goes by...for now I think the not talking route is the best way to go.

Thanks for crossing everything, I will do the same for you, for me, for gdbaby, for Mota, for all! We could have a really great class! The students there are really close - that would be so wonderful! Keep the faith all!

Well, it's off to work I go! Another day of bedpans and foleys, of call lights and paging the resident at 2 a.m. (our residents are all from Loyola, by the way 😉 ) I am not really in the mood - but once I get there I will feel better. The little old men and women always cheer me up, they say some of the craziest things!

Sorry I dont know if this was posted earlier bc i havent read all 15 pages, but does anyone have a link to their match list?

Also is the med school in proximity to the undergrad? Do they offer dual degrees? Does the school possess a nice/fun atmosphere?

OK.. this is the most gender confused group... gd is female, timmy is female, yourmom is male.. geesh, keeping track here is getting difficult!

no doubt. in recent news i called today to "coordinate" an interview while I'm gonna be in chicago and they said that january was too far away and that they don't have interviews scheduled for january yet. so apparently loyola is one of those "hi, come interview tomorrow...tonight? ok meet me at the motel inn at midnight" kinda schools (except for the whole jesuit thing...don't expect to get any, you will most likely be playing bridge). but what i'm getting at is that there are months of possible interviews ahead of us. holler.

That's good to know! Congrats on the interview invite!

timmy is the name of my dog...my user name was suposed to be "TIMMYTHEWONDERDOG" but that was too long and it cut it off at the D...this is what i actually look like, yes, i am quite female, but i don't mind being called timmy 😉

Our match list from this past year is published in our Loyola Medicine magazine. I can't remember which issue, but here's a link to publications:

http://www.luhs.org/news/pubs/

Happy digging!

Cant find it anywhere, searched for a while.

I know someone said that there is a stick somewhere on this forum with match lists, but i cant find that either. 😕

is it just me or does half of the class STAY at Loyola for residency? maybe thats why they're so selective for medical school?

Seems like very few people leave chicago for residency, with most staying at loyola?

The 05 match list is also on the original link. It's in the Spring 05 publication(physician centered). Many Loyola students stay at Loyola for residency. The students are very comfortable with the Loyola philosophy and the way they teach meidicine and the practice of medicine.

i know that all of our house docs and cv residents are from loyola, and yes, most went to school there and are continuing there with residency...one doc i talked to recently has been at loyola over 11 years! i think that is really great! i would love to stay in one place with the same folks for that long!

Timmy, is that a leather-studded dog collar you are wearing in that pic?? HAWT...

does loyola cater to a certain crowd in terms of religion? i really would like to get an interview invite there, i already sent in a letter as a desperate plea for attention.

Whoa!! Now I'M jealous. I gotta dig out that picture of me on top of the Dodge Neon....

Careful Barbara, any sexy points earned from the dog collar would be cancelled out by a Dodge Neon...

no, i am not wearing timmy's collar - it wouldn't fit me, my neck is too big (timmy is a boston terrier). it is actually black denim with stars on it...i took this picture as my "self portrait" for photography class. we were supposed to show a really "different" side of ourselves, and i am in actuality an insanely reserved person who runs around in jeans and a t-shirt all the time (when i am not in scrubs).

i have heard much talk about your old avatar...from the sound of it i am sorry to have missed it. i do like the squirrel, though!

no, they are very open and welcoming to all creeds, that is another thing i love about them. they are a jesuit institution but are not biased. they do mention god in lecture though, depending on the professor that is.

who is your avatar?

you have a neon? i used to drive by the chrysler neon plant all the time on my way to and from chicago. next time i do i will think of you! i need a new car, one that does not drive like a giant ice skate in the winter. i live in chicago and bought a rear wheel drive vehicle, man am i stupid!

My avatar is David Brent from the British version of The Office.

I do not have a Neon. I don't own a car, just a bike and a Burley for my son. BUT one year I went to Austin to run the Austin marathon and my hubby and I noticed that there were a lot of Neons in Austin so we started taking pictures of us next to Neons whereever we went. One of these pics happens to have me on the hood.

I had a Subaru in Chicago--perfect.

No car in CO? or are you living some place warm where you can bike everywhere?? If so, I'm jelous. I only own a car bc it's too cold in winter to ride my bike around. That and to go see my family.

No, it's cold. 20 degrees right now. I have a lot of warm biking clothes and if I think it is too cold for my son, we take the bus. We rode this morning though. I live right byy ahuge park and my son loves to yell out everything he sees "DUCKS!" "LAKE!" "DOOGIES!" -- so hard to get on the bus, when I could be listening to this...

That's impressive. I refuse to bike when it is below freezing. I just can't take it being that cold with wind chill and all. That and I'm very unlucky and a klutz, most likely causing me to slip and fall on the ice. My old roommate however was crazy and would bike everywhere, even in the middle of a snow storm.

I used to bike everywhere in Boston. Then someone stole my bike 🙁 I spent all of my money on applying, so now I can't buy a new one.

I had someone steal my bike seat once......I was on crutches at the time, so I couldn't bike anyway. Stupid landlord and his no bike storage in the apartment rule.

That sucks that they stole your bike. I refuse to store my new bike outside by my apt complex because I think some of the people there are shady. I've seen people try and steal bikes around town in broad daylight.

I guess that's one thing I would miss if I got into Loyola.....I would not be able to bike to and from class/grocery store/errands as I would be living in the middle of no where.......

Not quite. I've only had time for lurking lately... I'm trying to find a job with better hours. I don't need to torture myself with the 8pm-8am research assistant shift, as it is no longer needed for the medical school apps. Being a zombie during the day isn't very fun.

Be a nanny! That's my new job! 😀

Although, I might still do 1 night shift at the hospital every weekend...

Anyone get any acceptance calls yet this week???
