Okay, just called. They are going to review my app again between now and the end of March. Sigh. Should I keep calling or just twiddle my thumbs until March?

Sadly I also called and have joined the to be reviewed again between now and March group. I hope sooner than later as I will be out of the country in April, which is noted on my application.

I figure if I call once a month maybe I'll get lucky. If not I guess I'll have to stay where I am......this is not how I was hoping to start my new year. 🙁

Well jrae, together we wait. If it is worth anything, perhaps we will be at Iowa together! I claim dibbs to the left side of the cadaver.

WIll do, I prefer the right anyway......
Sadly if I stay at Iowa I will have to move out of my current apartment so I can get myself a cute little puppy to keep me company while I study 😀 ......

If you end up going to Iowa and need help looking for a place to live, PM me. One of my good friends (whose soon to be Hubby will be in the Iowa class of 2010) is a realestate agent. That and I know what rental agencies to avoid and which are good.

i just called and am still "under review with the admissions committee...we'll be interviewing til April". that's about the 8th time i've called and they've said that.

does anyone know how cheap housing is in the loyola area?

it's a HUGE range depending on exactly where you want to live and how much space you need. If you're looking for the cheapest possible rent, definitely start in Forest Park, and try to find a place that has heat/gas included in the rent. Prices start to rise if you look into Oak Park, another nearby suburb, but the neighborhood is nicer and you may find more to do closer to home. If you plan to actually live in Chicago, rent will definitely be considerably higher, and your commute time will go up as well.

craigslist and http://www.chicagoreader.com/spacefinder are good resources to check out different areas. i'd suggest not living in maywood as forest park and oak park are extremely close and much nicer towns.

yea, i was told the exact same thing. i think i am considering my one acceptance "it" and by some miracle of God, should i hear from some other school i will look at it as a delightful surprise. my nerves are too shot at this point to keep getting worked up about it. 🙁

I called and they said I am going to be reviewed in january. I am hoping this is the last time I am going to be reviewed. I really want an interview.

Does anyone know how many people have already been rejected???

Well, they reject pre-secondary and seeing the numbers from last year it seems that they reject around 3,000-4,000 before sending our secondaries.

Thanks USArmyDoc...it seems many of us are being reviewed again so I'm curious if they hold a lot of applications and reject tons later or if we still have a decent shot at getting interviewed (hopefully it's the latter!) Best of luck to you!

Anymore news? By the way, they have not filled their class yet. I was told this by the Dean of Admissions last week.

Timmy, I would consider that a very successful application cycle if you ask me. You got into a school!!

How did you get ahold of the Dean? I'm tempted to start drafting a letter of intent/why I would like the opportunity to go to Loyola.

Hopefully this pile is under serious consideration and not like the pre-interview hold pile I was on at UCSD last year......that was just the wait for rejection pile.

Glad to hear they haven't filled the class yet. Hopefully that means there is still a chance!!

I have an INTERVIEW! 😀

I am SO excited about this! Any words of wisdom/advice that a matriculant like yourself could offer to a fresh interviewee?

the old cliche: be yourself.

i honestly can't say what i think i did/said in my interview that they liked or didn't like. they are very up front about saying they are very careful about who they select to interview...so it seems like getting the interview is the tough part and then they just want to know what you're all about as a person. My interviews were very conversational...i got one or two ethics questions, but nothing too hard, and mostly just questions that required a simple honest answer. know your app, know your motives and you're money 🙂

Thanks GDBABY! I am sending some good luck vibes your way :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: :luck: it would ROCK to be your classmate!!!!!

Rosemary called (I love that woman, she is SOOOOO nice!) and actually the call started out as questions about something on my secondary app, and here's me thinking "OH NO! All this time something has been screwed up! That's why I am in eternal review!" As soon as I cleared up her questions she offered me an interview! I could have KISSED her! I may even give her a hug on interview day! 😀

Timmy, you're golden - the interview is simply making sure that you're the same great person you are in your secondary - they'll definitely latch onto your enthusiasm and join us 2010ers a few weeks later... congrats

he is the "YOU" as i replied to his post

don't be depressed! i know what you need - you need a timmy to whip marshmallows at! (timmy is my silly little dog)

i will keep you on my mind....i would love for you to get into loyola even if i don't!

How long does it usually take to hear from them regarding interviews after being complete? I submitted my secondary and LORs before my assigned deadline (October 31st), and have not heard anything from the school since then, not even that I am "complete." What is going on? 😡

You are probably on hold too, but you can call on Thursdays and check.

Timmy, I did throw mylar balls at my cats this morning. One of my cats is 18 pounds so it is pretty funny to see her belly work like a Swiffer as she chases after those things!

Congrats on the invite Timmy!

I'm a little jelous, probably like most people waiting to hear, but will still send good luck vibes towards you. 😀

However, if I recall, I was about 1-2 months behind. I just got put into the re-review pile after being complete since the begining of Nov. At least I know people get moved out of it now!! Hmmm....does that mean I'll have to wait until March? 🙁 I hope not as I'll be out of the country for a month or so starting in April. Pretty sure I noted that. There is still some hope.......

One thing, when is the big day??

My app was submitted and complete by mid September if it makes you feel any better. Everyone is just moving really slow this year. I was complete at Rush in early August and have not heard word #1! When I e-mail they say I have not even been reviewed yet! And that I am not alone in that respect! WOW! 😱

Friday the 13th! Good thing I am not superstitious at all!
It's actually kind of funny! 😀

OH! And there will be a full moon the very next day!

Where are you going? Somewhere warm and tropical? Strange and exotic? Business or pleasure?

That's next week!! Good luck! I think the early date would out weigh any superstitions. I think someone posted above that they hadn't filled the class yet, so that's a good sign for you.

My best friend and I are going to Europe for one last trip before I start school again and she starts a real job as a pharmacist. Currently we are planning on spending most of our time between England, Italy, and France. It will be my first time to visit a country not connected to the US, so I'm pretty excited.

way to go timmy! you'll rock it. finally one of us got an invite. awesome.

Thanks! I am SO excited! An RN friend of mine has a brother who went to Stritch and she told him about my interview and he pretty much said the same thing as someone else did a few posts back....that if you get an interview there you are pretty much golden as long as you aren't a complete socially maladjusted misfit in person....is this true? Oh my gosh! I can hardly sit still for this week!!!!!!! 😀

I want mine!!!!!!!! 🙁 🙁 🙁

Still waiting, Timmy....I am going to Colorado today to sit in on some classes and have lunch with an M2. Planning the appropriate way to grovel when I get to the admissions office.

What day(s) of the week does Loyola usually call?

seems like it varies. mine was on a monday...but it seems like they call throughout the week based on different days people have mentioned.

I assume they are done calling for the day. Anyone have any information of the waitlist. It seems that if you interview in February, possibly even late January, you are shooting for a waitlist spot. I have heard lots of numbers thrown around about how many they take off their waiting list (40%,15%,10%).

This year it sounds like they are a little behind schedule. I would think if you interview anytime in January or early February it will be for a actual spot in the class.

As far as the % you threw out. According to Dean Norstrom, in the 2003 application year and every year previous they had taken approximately 30-40% of the class off the waitlist. For some reason in 2004 this number dropped to 10%, the number jumped up a little to 15% in 2005. I asked her about this during my interview and she didn't have any explanation for this significant drop and she had no idea if it would continue. Whatever the case, it doesn't appear to be anomalous, as she said other medical schools in the Chicago area had experienced the same phenomenon. Whatever the case USArmyDoc, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and others who sound like they really deserve an interview.
