So...I've been following the DO residency match thread, and couldn't resist myself from posting this.

Unless I'm interpreting the data wrong, 69 graduates (50%) of TouroCOM this year went for AOA residency and 45 matched (65.2% match rate). I was hoping the match rate to be a little higher than this. For any of you who's aware, is this a better stat than the previous year's match rate? This pre-med newbie has no idea how the residency match works, so it'd be great if the current students can enlighten me a little.
Also, for the remaining 50% that did not participate in AOA residency, does that most likely mean they are going for allopathic specialty residencies?
My thought was that unless there is a significant advantage for pursuing allopathic residencies over AOA residencies, why would someone not even try for AOA (thus giving up on higher chance of ending up "somewhere"...at least..)
Anyway, a big congrats to all the TouroCOM 4th years who matched, and good luck throughout the rest of the cycle!
