Tufts Cummings c/o 2015 applicants!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I'm leaving for the airport after the day's scheduled events on Tuesday... I don't really have a choice at this point, but would it be pretty weird for me to bring my small luggage bag with me?

This has to be the most helpful, kindest thread 😍 Thanks so much, current students, other interviewees, and even non-Tufts affiliated people for all your advice, encouragement, and kind words! Warm fuzzies all around! 😀

First off (and most importantly!) Good luck tomorrow!!! And good luck every day for people interviewing!!

Next: Thanks so much, Mes041! I'm actually going to compile stuff to print so I don't forget anything when I leave tomorrow afternoon!

Third, message for oakave & anyone who might want to store something like a bag...) I am driving with my parents so I will have a car on campus. If you text me (I'll send it in a PM), I'm sure we wouldn't mind lending the space 🙂

Ahhh!! I can't wait to see Tufts!! I really liked Mass. when I was there earlier this month. I'm trying to master saying Worcester when I tell people where I'm kind of going :laugh:

I couldn't agree with phaedraeos more!!!

hey guys! I interviewed Thursday so I'd thought I'd let you guys know a few things I would've liked to know before the interview:
1. bring snow boots! you can bring them in a bag and leave them in the front room when you walk in and put them on for the tour, its super slushy outside and its so much more comfortable to wear snow boots/any boots, plus everyone is leaving their shoes in the front room by the door so its no big deal plus if you're wearing interview pants you can just tuck them in and they won't get dirty!
2. Bring warm stuff to put on (scarf and gloves) because its cold outside! and you walk for a long time in the cold, but get excited for the campus, its so pretty!
3. Relax! I was sooo nervous and you don't need to be (though I've heard this from everyone else and it still doesn't help but oh well), my interviewers only asked me 4 questions (about my research, why I chose my undergrad school, about a unique experience I had, and what I thought about primate testing), and the rest was just conversation, so don't worry about being grilled

Good luck everyone!! I hope everyone's interview goes well/went well!!

I second or third the bring boots plan. They do a decent job shoveling/salting but things are rather messy. It is currently very icy on campus so bring shoes with traction--ie do not plan on wearing your interview shoes for the campus tour.

I don't think I'll make it over to admissisons to say hi as I am on clinics but if anyone has questions please PM.

So how DO you say it? I've been trying to get it down too

Lol, I've been trying to school my boyfriend on how to say it. 🙄 It basically sounds like "wooster," but the oo's are short. Kind of like the "lister" in listerine. Does that make sense?

I made it to Boston and am hanging out with my family today! Weee!

Hey KodaBear, my professor told me say it like you'd say "Worcestershire sauce." Does that help??:laugh: I'm sure people will have to get used to my northeast PA accent 😀

Whyevernot55 - so jealous! I can't wait to get up to Mass tomorrow!!!

Glad you made it! Just DON'T TOUCH THE CAR - the roads are sooooo disgusting today.

I'm trying to think of how I'd describe the pronunciation - I think it's most similar to "wuhster," and feel free to drop the "r" if you really want to go hard core 😉

I'm from Cleveland. We do snow. 😎

Hoping it's not too bad tomorrow! I've got about an hour drive out to campus!

haha I'll add my take to this pronunciation. I say Woosh- (like a wave) ter. Woosh-ter

I just drove up today and the roads look fine. I have sneakers to wear for the tour so I hope they will substitute for boots.

Thanks for all the well wishes! I cant wait to see a few of you guys tomorrow morning for breakfast!

I'll have a car too, and will also be happy to lend luggage (or boots or whatever) storage space to anyone!

Worcester is "wuss" as in he's such a wuss!, "ter" as in Lister. (I grew up here - just coming back from CA!)

The locals probably say something close to "wuhsteh." I made the mistake last June of going to Boston and ordering "chowder." My boyfriend's dad corrected me and said it's called "chowdah." 🙂 I'm so glad my boyfriend has a non-regional dialect 🙂 🙂

I now have a horrible cold which made me take off a full day of work today. Fingers crossed I'm feeling better (or at least not coughing phlegm everywhere and blowing my nose every 5 minutes!) by the interview on Wednesday. If it had just not been postponed I would've been fine grrrr!

Anyone going this Wednesday want to meet up in the morning for noms (food)?

Oh no, feel better! Hopefully you'll be at the stage where a simple decongestant will take care of it! (Crap. My husband just sneezed. Hrm, now I'm paranoid!)

We can definitely meet up for noms. I'm planning on getting in around 8:15 - anyone else?

People make fun of me a lot up here for not having the Bwahston accent... Although my actual accent doesn't pinpoint me anywhere since I grew up in too many different places (the same goes for my French accent!) It took me a bit of getting used to the accent here at first, with my introduction to the language being hearing the president of my undergrad (BU) say "Welcum tuh Buoston Univahsetee!"

Much to my dismay, chowdah is only available Friday night at the JP pub we stopped at. I did get a lobster roll :soexcited::woot::biglove: Maybe I will move here regardless...

Wahhh:cry: I wanna make more new SDN friends in person - I wish I could stay here another day....

That's okay, maybe we'll all end up in the same class next year? One can hope! If it makes you feel better this will be the first time I've ever met anyone (aside from stalking facebook pages) from an online forum I've been a part of 😛

:luck: Good luck!

Best of luck to you too! I was thinking the same thing!! Feel free to stalk me on FB (or, even better....friend me😀)

I don't know if there could be any more friendly of people than those people at tufts. not only was it nice to meet Patty and Laura (who remembered every single one of us) but all the professors and faculty were amazing. The interview was basically a little chat, the interviewers did spend time talking to each other, but it was like friends who didn't get time to hang out with each other enough. I loved the place! 😍

Waiting until march to hear their decision is going to be killer!

I am totally in love with Tufts. Like for reals. I second everything that SouthJerseyBell said and more. I'm posting interview feedback now (yeah, I'm a bit OCD....) but if anyone wants to pick my brain, feel free!!

AHH! I want to be North Grafton bound like NOW!:biglove::biglove::biglove:

I totally agree! I haven't interviewed yet (tomorrow morning- fingers crossed), but I drove around the campus a thousand times today. It's absolutely gorgeous! 😍

Glad you guys are loving it here!

And FTR, the real hardcore ones pronounce it "Wista". If you really want to blow 'em away, another local town by the name of Leicester is pronounced just like "Lester". I've lived in MA & NH all my life & sometimes forget that we have a language all our own. 😛

Once again, good luck to you all! (or y'all, as some might say)!

Me three! The interview was so relaxed and conversational in tone that I really didn't feel like I'd been "interviewed" at all. And everyone, every single person I saw the entire day, was so friendly! What a great way to do it!

I had recently talked to two different people who had interviewed the previous year and switched their first choice to Tufts. Now I know why! 👍

did everyone get the email about taking the survey? was i the only one who was harping on the word "soon" and wishing/hoping it meant this week!

Yeah, this waiting stuff.....but it'll pay off! That's what I keep telling myself 😀 After my interview last Tuesday (it's already been a week? What??! - better get started on that Fin. aid & MPH stuff.....)

When I spoke to...Laura (?) upon my departure concerning notice, she said that they send an email out 1st or 2nd week of March with a time to check our delightful portal 🙂 Why the waiting? Ahhhh! (I'm theorizing that people who are removed from the waitlist & need to be interviewed are notified if people decide to decline their interview &/or acceptances [those made from December]) Anyone want to back me up/give me new ideas to think on while I wait??

(I really love Tufts & want to go there. The wait WILL BE WORTH IT!)

It is weird that you say that because looking at the official acceptance thread..people who interviewed on 12/17 received their acceptances approx a week later. I was hoping for the same for the rest of us. :xf:

Well after my tour, I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. That was the info I was given (trust me, I was hoping for the same!)

Maybe the day it's emailed, we can all have a "Let's Spaz Together" Day?

Not so for the Feb interviewees, sadly. They interview a LOT more people in Feb than in Dec, and they wait a lot longer to tell us. Last year it was the 2nd week of March, so I expect it'll be about the same.

I think I remember hearing (during interview day) that they send the financial aid packages along with the acceptance letters. Anyone else remember hearing this? If I'm remembering that right, notification will have to be at least several business days later than the March 4 financial aid postmark deadline.

I don't think so...your financial aid application is due March 4, which is before you hear back about acceptance/rejection/waitlist. Then they put together financial aid packages ASAP to get them to folks before Apr 15th so people can have that info when making final decisions. This is part of a lot of frustration surrounding the fin aid application - you have to fill it all out before you even know if you are accepted and need to, but having it early allows them to get it back to you before you need to make final decisions.

What I remember was that our Fin Aid applications were due March 4th, which was around (very very vague) the time that admissions got their responses out. The financial aid works independently from admissions and don't coordinate too much. I am assuming that financial aid has to wait to hear who gets accepted as well before they can start offering money to those lucky students.

So I believe we should hear from admissions around the second week of march and then about financial support a bit after that but before the April 15th deadline.

Just more prolonged waiting which just makes me nervous about it all. Good Luck everyone and I hope we find some rest and relaxation during this wait!! :luck::luck:

Someone's portal was updated today!! Just saw the post on the official acceptances thread. Oakave- when did you interview? Did you get an email about your decision being up?

Mine's still not up 🙁

I got an email today at 1:00 saying I could access my application decision at 5pm on their portal thing. I pooped my pants for four hours straight, then dropped the motherload at 5 pm.

I interviewed Feb 8th.

Keep you fingers crossed!

Congrats!!!! :👍👍 I interviewed the 9th, so maybe tomorrow? Fingers crossed! :xf:

I guess we don't have to wait until March? ahhh...now im really nervous!!!:scared:

i got an acceptance today but in my email they said "The Admissions Committee has completed some deliberations for applicants to the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program for the fall 2011 entering class". So i wouldn't worry just yet they still have more deciding to do and unfortunately, more waiting. I hope everyone hears back soon, and hopefully only good news!

Oh Jeez! I thought we had more time!! Why are things being changed up?? My nerves cannot handle this!! I really want Tufts so I can't wait to hear back!! :luck::xf::luck::xf::luck:

Good Luck to all!!

In a few words to describe my mood: "Aw man....." (And I interviewed on the 8th. Maybe they didn't like me after all? (Yes, I sound childish, but...🙁)

I hate the hope switch in the brain. I've gotta focus on classes and not check my email everysinglesecondcauseIwanna AHHHH

But, congrats all! Are we thinking of picking up those acceptances???? (I'm thinking sincerely that you who received them are really awesome 🙂)

Not that the rest of us aren't!!!! :biglove:

EEP! :scared: I'm not sure about others, but now that I didn't receive an e-mail telling me to check the update today I'm a bit nervous that their decision won't be a happy one for me. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE! :luck:

And then I eat more chocolate. 🙄
