Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but from what I read in previous posts UB stopped conducting interviews about 2 weeks earlier last year than they did this year. If this is the case, it seems to me as though they are progressing at a similar pace to last year just with a 2 week delay.

Medee, you are exactly correct, we have been seeing a 2 week delay with everything. If you look at when they started taking ppl off the waitlist from the top 1/3, last year it was about 2 weeks before when they started taking ppl off this year...

edit: if one looks, though, they started calling people a week later than when they started calling ppl this year, so that might even things out??

edit edit: there is one fewer member on the facebook group, so someone must have withdrawn...

Also, we should keep in mind that the SDN list is but a small portion of the Buffalo waitlist...so movement may be happening but we just don't hear of it.

and for people asking about missing housing weekend, I think you should be able to find something. I know there are students still looking for roomates, and you can always check the local adds (UB off campus housing add, craislist, artvoice, buffalo.com, etc)

I'm assuming most people who've been accepted already will have an apartment lined up by then, so maybe I'll be talking to some of you who get accepted off their waitlist sometime next month... Anyone else waiting to get a place till later on?

Does anyone know what the average "cheap" apartment goes for with 2+ people? I'm looking to live as close to campus as possible because I'd prefer not to have to drive to school every day and it would be nice to be near class/lab/gym/etc... Right now I pay $450/month for my share of the rent plus about $80-90 more for elec/cable/internet. The impression I got on interview day was that you can find some very reasonable priced apartments around UB, so I was hoping to spend as much as I am spending now or less.

Same way those of us pay who are not coming straight from undergrad and without weathly parents.... federal loans! Buffalo's a cheap place to live. The thinking goes, if you're coming straight from undergrad, you probably wont make a lot of money working anyway, so the time is better spent studying.

Haha, me too. I have been making plans since I have been on the waitlist. lol

I would go with Verizon, but I am biased. Really, though, anything BUT sprint should be fine. I had the worst reception (I grew up just outside of Buffalo) and the worst service.

I'm going to be using Sprint also...I have been with them ever since I moved to Texas from Vegas in 2000 and have always had great reception everywhere I went when I used to travel alot in the pharmaceutical industry. I will definitely report any reception problems when my wife and I fly up there next week to look for housing and a job for her. Have a great weekend guys!

Yes, I'm waiting on getting a place too-- UB is my 2nd choice and I'm still hoping to squeak into my first choice. If I haven't heard anything by mid-July I'll be getting a place... hopefully with other students. there are now 80 people on the group. However, not everyone in the group is in the class of 2011. Some are in the class of 2010 and are there to answer our questions and such. Also people leave the group when they get into somewhere else...so dont worry much about the facebook group. At least it doesnt have 130 or so memebers, then i would be getting worried. Also, its a good thing that more people have been joining the group this week, that might indicate that there is alot of movement happening (which of course is always a good thing)
