UC San Diego - Hold for Interview

I just received this email and I'm wondering: has anyone actually been invited for an interview after originally being placed on this list? It seems like a very long shot to me.

i got that email last year...i wouldn't hold out much hope unfortunately. i talked with yvonne in the admissions office last year. she is very nice. i would recommend asking for her if you ever want to call ucsd. she pretty much told me flat-out last year that i wouldn't end up being interviewed. as you might imagine, that is their way of covering their ass just in case a flood of people end up turning them down. i assume a few people end up getting an interview from the hold list, but most are eventually rejected.

I was put on hold in November. Got an interview invite in December and was put in the acceptable pool (waitlist) in January. So they do interview some on-hold people. I'm living proof!

good one scooby...kick a man while he's lamenting. you really think i'd be spending my time surfing sdn and reliving the tragedy of last year if i wasn't enduring the same pain again this year? i ended up going back to work for another damn year until i could do it all over again now.

When I was at UCSD they said that they would be interviewing through at least April, and that they would pull people from the pool, so there is still hope. As someone mentioned earlier, call and talk to Yvonne (she is super nice)!
