Aaaaaah! Yay! 🙂

Hey cHocoBo, you said you wanted a picture of Adam Morrison crying. Here you go!

I guess NCAA has no place for a big crying baby like Adam Morrison. Is he ready for NBA???

UCLA! UCLA! UCLA! (Sorry, I rejected you twice both in my undergraduate and SOM). Hope I can come to UCLA SOM for my residency. 😉

I just checked again today and found out that my decision letter was sent. But right underneath the website, it had this box to RSVP for Recruitment day with a form to fill out. This means I'm in right? Oh god, I'm panicking! Don't let it be a mean glitch!

That definitely looks like a good sign!

Did you get the "Letter from Dr. Levey"...that is pretty much a congrats welcome to UCLA...I would definitely think its an acceptance if you have this letter in there too (on the status page). Good luck!

haha it sounds like a good thing. although I'm the type that even if every sign leads to the letter being an "acceptance", i'd still be hesistant to go celebrate until i see the actual letter.

I hope you get good news really soon. Out of curiosity, when was your interview? Mine was on february 6 and my status page hasn't changed. Also, when you get your response definetly post to give us some hope. Thanks a lot and good luck.

Does it annoy anyone else when people don't use "justified" formatting in their documents? I'd at least expect my admissions letter from Dr. Levey to have even margins! 🙄

My interview was on February the 17th, right before President's day weekend (that's how I remember it). I guess it depends on the speed of whichever committee you get. Dr. Fulco, my really cool interviewer, said that it's about 20 people per committee, about half of which are students. (Which was cool). And the lady at the admissions office told me to think late March, early April. Let's hope your admit committee is just having a hard time finding a good meeting time! (very busy folks!) :luck: :luck: :luck:

Yup got the "letter from Dr. Levey"... printed it out immediately just in case. 😀 I'm sorta paranoid like that. Anyway, will post once I get my final decision letter! Nervous!!!! :scared:

Holy smokes, UCLA is working again. What is your final decision letter date? I wonder if they are still sending batches out again?

My final decision letter date was 3/28/2006.
I interviewed on 2/17/2006
and my forms were complete by like 9/26/2005 so I had thought I wouldn't get an interview... but it was requested 1/16/2006, I was so happy!

Can't wait to get my mail tonight! aaaaaaah!

Wow, congrats. I interviewed just two weeks ago. So did you know your final decision was good news because you had the link for the second look weekend? Ohhh, this is something to look forward tooo...

Well, the particular system glitch makes me think I got in, but I still haven't received my letter. (My mail comes late) Lastly however, as a former UCLA undergrad, if it went out through Campus Mail first, I'm going to be waiting for a few more days, since I'm pretty sure that means lots of red tape, shifting from mail room to mail room and then being sent to the post office. But I love LA!

congrats! when is the 2nd look weekend?

does anyone know if their class is full? i'm wondering if people interviewing in the next few weeks are going for waitlist spots only, but if mchou got accepted, that gives me hope too. 🙂 i feel like i'm interviewing sooo late and even *if* i did get accepted, i wouldn't know in time for the 2nd look, but that would be ok!

Hmm... I dunno about "2nd look weekend" but I know "Recruitment Day" is May 6th. I would like to think you can call up the admit office and ask if you are interviewing for a waitlist spot or not, but I don't know. I suppose if I get the acceptance (makes begging sign in the air) I could call em for ya and ask?

thanks...when I called they said they are not just interviewing for the waitlist and still have spots open, but I'm confused because I've heard schools must accept enough students to fill their class by Mar 15th. I doubt that UCLA would be able to overaccept very many applicants, since there is such a high chance that accepted students would enroll.

Yeah, I'm wondering the same thing. I have an interview scheduled for the last week of April (yikes!) and find it hard to believe I'd actually have a chance at acceptance - any thoughts?

In 2003 UCLA accepted 238 to fill a class of 121. I believe that if they have accepted just 121 students that they will have met the March 15th requirement. But clearly they know that they will need to accept many more than that number. Historically, they need 2X the number the fill their class. So, it makes sense that they could fill 1.5X the class size and be safe and still take lots off the waitlist. I have no inside knowledge of how many they accept before May 15th, but I am certain that they accept more than 121. So an entire class can be accepted and they can still keep adding to the number. So have heart. 🙂 and good luck :luck: ! (And root for the Bruins in the final four.)

i interviewed 1/25....still no word

this really doesn't seem like a good sign..any thoughts?

Take heart. Since the first large group of acceptances to UCLA-Geffen in February, there have been two other groups accepted in March. In the early parts of this thread (I think) they talk about subcommittees of admissions and that each subcommittee must meet to decide on its batch of applicants. The acceptees seems to come from all over the interview calendar and may be related to these subcommittees. So do not stress over the fact that you interviewed near the end of January. The date of your interview just doesn't seem to matter. And remember, also, that two kinds of waitlists (unranked and hold) have also been sent out for interviewees. So hearing nothing, while annoying and angst producing, is not necessarily a bad sign. It is just, unfortunately, no sign at all.

Still no mail. 😡 🙁

Hi,

I interviewed at UCLA at the beginning of February. I still haven't received any mail, but I did check the website last night to see if a final decision on me had been reached.

It said that a letter had been mailed the 28th, and there was also a pdf file of a letter about 2nd look day. Maybe that is an indicator of getting in?

good luck everybody.

Hey I Got the same thing, I called up the lady and asked about it and she said I could sign up for recruitment day. You think that means we'll see each other next year at LA?

Congratulations to you both!!!!!!!!!! You are in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in too...sweet...do you guys know if UCLA ever gives out scholarships???

Congrats guys!!! If (more like when 😉 ) you decide that you're coming to UCLA, move on over and join us on the UCLA Class of 2010 thread. 👍

Congrats everyone!

As for scholarships, they definitely give out need-based scholarships (based mostly on your parents FAFSA info). Make sure to fill out your FAFSA and the Need Access form on the UCLA Geffen website. Merit scholarships (which you are automatically considered for) will give given out before the end of May.

I didn't know UCLA gave out merit. How do you find out about those babies?

paradisedoc said:

They give out mostly need-based, and a few merits. They will contact you, via mail if you receive one. I don't know the specifics of what kinds there are, but I do know that UCLA has med-students that are Regent's Scholars (which is a full-ride). Its probably only 1-2/year (I'm guessing)...

So checking my UCLA status page has now become a minor obsession. Its the only school I am waiting to hear from so it is all that stands between me and knowing where on earth I am going next year. I would take UCLA over my other acceptances, so not knowing has really left me in limbo. My husband is convinced that anyone who interviews me will accept me so has no understanding of my nerves or my twice a day status page checks, followed by large sighs when I see that nothing has changed. Are there any other obsessive UCLA status page checkers out there to commisserate with me??

what does this actually mean??? I put this up in the forum earlier but it seems that the UC's mostly put people on unranked waitlists... sooooooooooooooo my ? is how does the waitlist move if there is no ranking...

*confused*

*confused*

They claim that they have an "unranked" waiting list to prevent people from calling and finding their position. I think what they do re-review the waitlist people before May 31st and generate a ranking list. When people begin dropping, they go down the list. I'm just guessing though...its what makes the most sense, they have to be able to differentiate these people...

Good luck!

BTW: MDhopeful023, your mdapplicants doesn't work on your signature...I don't think it ever has...

just curious...how do u know that means they are in for sure. It would certainly make sense, but how are u positive? If your interpretation is correct, then basically people will know if they have been accepted or rejected as soon as their status changes to 'final letter sent'. yeah?

Unfortunately, no. Lots of status changes have meant waitlist and hold list. But these two had a link to the second look weekend. So I am assuming that it is the same letter as appears on my web page, and it is written to students who have been accepted. It starts out with "Congratulations". But you are correct, until the letter is actually in your hands, it is probably better to be patient. But patience wears thin after all this time. If you have a link to a congratulations letter and come to second look day, then I am sure that you must be in. As they say, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and sounds like a duck....

Which two? Waitlist and hold list or the two posters who have a link?

Can someone clarify? So if your final decision has a link to the second look stuff then you are in, right? Can ucla acceptees clarify this, thanks....
And if one got a waitlist, hold, or we don't want you letter then there is no link, right?

Tapping into the Mysteries of status pages is berry scary.

Hi. I still haven't received my letter yet and my mailing address is like 1 hr away from UCLA. ARRRGH. But I know a friend of mine who was accepted who got the link only about a week or so AFTER receiving his letter. So it seems like something... attached to being accepted. And that is my firm hope! 😍 UCLA

I (as a UCLA undergrad) logged into my URSA account today to order another transcript and got a button on that says: "accept offer of admission" to David Geffen School of Medicine. DESPITE not having received my LETTER YET! arrgh, I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!! wooooooooooooooo!

Wow, Congrats Mchou. I guess UCLA(SOM) is getting their act together finally. However, I would like to see Dr. Parker to make the personal calls to those being accepted. By doing so, UCLA may make it to the top 10 next year. hehehhe..j/k. Good luck to those still in waiting. :luck:

For those accepted; besides the second look day/weekend agenda, has anybody received fin aid or housing type stuff yet?

Rebs said:

No info for housing or financial aid received yet, but I got a letter in the mail today saying to fill out an Intent to Register form and a Legal Residence Form. The letter says that these things will start the process for registration and financial aid.

has there been some sort of movement in anyone's app./status?

i still haven't had a final decision letter status change...getting a bit worried as i interviewed back in jan.

Int'd in Oct....still no word 😎

Probably your admissions subcommittee has yet to meet, but I would play it safe (or paranoid) and ask at the admissions office about the status of your application on the very slight chance that perhaps something has been misplaced. Can't hurt to show some interest if it is where you might want to go, and since the majority of people seem to have heard (but who knows?) I would doubt that they would be getting tons of those calls. Good luck!! :luck:

so i called ucla...figuring what the heck. told the lady who i was and that i interviewed back in january and was wondering when i might hear...

this was the first time they've actually asked for my amcas id # and not just given me a general response...this leads me to believe that a lot of the final decisions have already been made

in any case, i give it to her, she looks it up, slight pause, and then tells me i should be hearing in the next couple weeks. I think WEEKS!?!...so i ask if my file has already been reviewed by the adcom and she says that yes, it's complete and is/has been reviewed by the adcom, and they will be making a decision.....I KNOW THIS MUST BE A REJECT and just don't want to give that out over the phone...

hmm...this season's been great...

just thought i'd share

Don't despair! UCLA doesn't give any information over the phone--they don't even let you schedule an interview, remember? So I think they are just not allowed to say anything. I definitely would not take it as a rejection. You can't read that much into how the secretaries respond to questions. Just root for the Bruins tonite, and then good things will happen. I will be rooting for you, too.
