Hi,
I have a question about the MCAT course. How useful did you find it to be? Particularly, did you find it prepare you well for the CARS section? I am planning to retake the MCAT in June of this year n was wondering if I should hold it off until I take the MCAT prep course thats offered by the program (given that I get in of course). I got really strong scores on the science sections but need to retake because of the low CARS. Any insight?
 
I just wanted to share my experience with you all regarding the Professional Transcript Entry service that is offered in the PostbacCAS application. Unfortunately, I used the service and paid $65 back in Nov. However, all they do is to delay your verification process by 10 business days after your submit your application. They won't start the transcript process until you submit your application. I wish I read the terms more carefully, but I certainly don't see any value at all in using their service.

How long does it take to get verified for those that submit tonight then? Will their application still get accepted?

It depends on if you sent your transcript. If you did, it takes a shorter amount of time to verify your application. If you didn't, it takes longer because they need your transcript in order to verify. It took them 4 days to verify my application

I think you'll be fine! I was just verified on the 31st and Amie send me a confirmation! I think it's a valuable service if you have taken a LOT of courses and don't want the chance that your grades might accidentally not line up.

I got an email for a spot to waitlist to interview! Has anyone else heard any news? And what to expect if you were to be on the waitlist to interview?

Last year I received an interview but then was placed on the waitlist. I heard back on May 29th that there was no room in the class and to try again next year. I don’t believe there was a waitlist just to interview last year but I could be wrong.

I’m sorry. I think this year it’s a lot more competitive. Last year I got first round interviews, didn’t get in, then spent all summer beefing up my resume. Got waitlisted for interviews this time. Either that or I’m REALLY BAD at interviews lol

I got an email from Amie today saying that they did in fact have waitlisted interviews last year ‍♂️ Didn’t hear of it on the forums though

Thank you! 🙂 I’m looking to reapply. But it does seem like I’m the only one with a complete rejection rather than a waitlist, heh.. but still applying to other programs. If you don’t mind me asking, what are your stats? I’ve asked Amie if she could tell me what I was lacking, and she told me after all the emails are sent out she would sit down with me and give her opinions on it.
 
Same. Waitlisted for interview. Really confused as I thought I would be a strong candidate for this program. Significant upward trend last 3 years, extensive research exp with pubs and various long-term work and volunteer experiences working with underserved and marginalized populations. Only weakness I can think of is low undergrad GPA and MCAT, hence the postbacc. was planning to retake MCAT and apply to med school this summer. But getting rejected here makes me think my app still needs lots of work. Time to look forward to other UC postbaccs now haha. Congrats to those receiving IIs. Go rock them!

I have a 3.2 science and overall gpa with a degree in accounting. Only 4 months of volunteer experience shadowing a head of surgery. That’s about it. This has been a fairly recent transition for me compared to traditional students. I’m also from a family where neither parent has a highschool degree. I’m the first person in my entire extended family to ever go to college.

Good luck! I don't think you're the only one since I believe there are individuals that have gotten rejections but chose not to share their news, so there is response bias.
 
I found this thread this past Friday and saw that people were receiving their notification emails from UCSD so I checked my junk mail and lo and behold there it was... an invitation to interview!! so excited!! congrats & good luck to all those who have been invited for an interview, and good luck to those who were waitlisted/not accepted this round 🙂

yes, it was a separate email that came a few hours after the first. both of the emails went to my junk folder so check there, or contact Amie if you checked and still can't find it.
 
I haven't received the second email yet either. I am probably going to wait a couple of days before I follow up with Amie. For me, the later the better.

Any former or current UCSD premed students, can you please answer. How many students in your class managed to get into medical schools especially UCs. Did it really help ?
