Congrats!! Has anyone else gotten an email about being accepted?

Also what does your last name begin with?

Just was wondering if everyone got the email around 1? Congrats to all!!

Does anyone know if you get an email even if you do not get accepted?

I got an email at 6:15 tonight:

"As I mentioned during your interview, due to the limited number of seats, I am not yet able to extend an offer for the Class of 2020 at this time. Your admissions status will be updated after the completion of standard interviews in early February and we will finalize the list of invitations at that time."

I'm bummed, I thought the interview went really well 🙁

I'm sorry Bambz... I hope they extend an invitation to you!!

Thank you :angelic: I hope they don't forget about me!!
Does anyone know how many people were given early acceptances vs. being transferred to the regular pool? I'm trying to focus on studying for finals but now I'm just moping around lol

I got the same email that I was pushed back to the regular pool and same with me pretty bummed because thought my interview went well and I got some great responses to my thank you emails. One thing my interviewers told me is that there are limited seats for early acceptance and if you had an early interview you are clearly towards the top of the list so I wouldn't worry too much!! Because you'll still be towards the top of the regular applicant pool as well!

I'm in the same boat as y'all! My interviewer actually jokingly said "see you in the fall" when I was leaving my interview so I really thought I had it in the bag. Super disappointed but hopefully we will all get in, just sucks that now we have to wait longer.

I was also an early interview and thought it went really well but got the same deferral email. I think I'd be less bummed if I didn't think my interview went as well!

Question about the thank-you emails: Lynnette had me send them to Nicole Hudson to be forwarded on to my interviewers. I never heard a thing back from her or my interviewers. Do you think they even made it to my interviewers? At the time I figured Nicole was just really busy and didn't have a moment to confirm with me, but now I'm worried that my thank-yous were never delivered and that affected my admission status...

I don't think thank you letters would have affected it! It's more of a courtesy than anything, your interviewers input all the information and after that are not involved in the admissions decision there's a board for that.

I highly doubt thank you letters would change an admission status

I also had Nicole Hudson forward my thank yous to my interviewers. I never heard anything back, not that I expected to. I e-mailed back Nicole to confirm that she had received my request and they had been sent and she said yes! She has been really busy, but I'm sure she has been getting to them. She is really good about that!

Don't worry about the thank you letters, getting a response back just depends on the interviewer. I sent thank you's to my interviewers last year and never heard anything back and I'm currently pretending that neurology doesn't exist 😉

Sorry for everyone that got pushed to the regular pool. I'm sure you are wonderful candidates and will be at the top of their list for regular admissions. They just can't accept everybody now and ignore the rest of the applicant pool.

As for thank you notes, I highly doubt that would have affected their admissions decisions. I didn't send any thank you notes when I applied a few years back and still got accepted. They are a nice gesture but won't make or break you.

For now, just focus on your finals and relax over the holidays.

Hi everyone, after lurking this forum for a couple of years, I finally worked up the courage to make an account.
Anyways, I'm an IS first time applicant, now slightly freaking out that I didn't get an early interview...
For those who are wondering when I met with Alex Avelino (pre vet advisor) she informed me that interviews would be announced in mid January this year :xf:

So I'm thinking of accepting my offer to join the class of 2020 OOS. Do any current students know about the extent of scholarships offered by the college? I know in my interview the faculty said it was extensive, but I'm not sure about the likelihood of receiving one.

I'm so relieved that we're all in the same position!!! Keeping my fingers crossed that we're still going to be at the top of the pool :luck:

Has anyone accepted their offer yet (sent required e-mail/info, etc.)? I know it is early along in the process but I know some IS students may already be accepting this offer. For me it is my #1 school as well so I'm likely going to send my acceptance soon but was wondering what the next process would be afterwards (sending deposit, etc.) 🙂

(I know this is a bit premature I'm just wanting to basically know the next step haha!)

Scholarships are very hard to come by in vet school. UF does offer scholarships/grants but you do not apply for them, they are awarded to you if you are qualified. That being said OOS typically are awarded more in scholarships than IS because of their higher tuition, but the actual amounts won't be enough to cover your tuition. At least from the people I've talked to who have received scholarships, they are usually no more than $5,000 a semester from my understandin. I'm IS and have not received any scholarships but I received a $500 federal grant for the fall, and a $1,000 grant for spring as my family contribution is $0. The school does fund a lot of money through scholarships but you have to realize that the majority of your classmates will have financial need (especially since everyone will now be considered independent and no longer tied to parental contribution, only spousal) and will qualify for scholarships. So rather than receiving a large sum for a few people, it's smaller amounts for more students. Many other schools do this as well. Last year my choice came between Tufts and UF, with Tufts promoting extensive financial aid funds. Once our financial aid packets were awarded the actual scholarship money I received was the most students were eligible to receive which was something around $11,000, which was nothing compared to the $50,000 tuition. Since I loved both programs equally I personally couldn't justify spending 15K more in tuition, let alone living expenses. As much as I want all of you to attend UF, if your decision is only dependent on cost then I would highly reconsider because there is no guarantee that you will receive any scholarships. If you get accepted to a program that you love just as much and is cheaper then I highly recommend attending that one. The current debt load/salary ratio is a huge issue and shouldn't be taken lightly. That being said, if UF is your dream school/it offers programs your instate does not/ you don't have an instate/ you believe you will be much happier here then yes consider accepting an offer. Most likely as an OOS you will receive some sort of funding, it just won't be a substantial difference and you'll still pay more than IS, but every little bit helps.

Sorry for the long rant, I have a background in business and just really want people to be financially aware and smart about their decisions because there is a big difference between being $200,000 in debt to being $300,000 in debt.

If its like last year then there is no deposit. You just have to email back and then sign and send back the paper they send you regarding your animal science and nutrition courses. After that don't expect to hear anything back until May/early June when you begin your online orientation. I personally thought they had forgotten about me and that I wasn't really accepted because I literally didn't hear anything for over two months :cat:

Great! That is good to know because I likely would have started panicking a little 😉

I'm in the same boat. I'm a Florida resident and a current student at the University of Florida. I'm just wondering, how many Florida residents recieved that email?

I'm a Florida resident (go to school OOS currently) and received it as well.
Were the seats filled focused more on trying to get a competitive advantage for recruiting OOS students?

I know in the past typically it's an equal number of OOS and IS accepted early, but at least your in state so your odds are much better than mine! I'm OOS and was pushed back to regular admissions

That's what I have been told. They focus more on OOS students to get them to commit to Florida before the other schools have a chance to make an offer. They want to pick the best of the best OOS students 🙂

Less than 24 hours and still pretending Neuro doesn't exist 😱

...not really, but that made me laugh.

To add about the thank you's, I hand wrote mine and didn't hear a response. Don't stress it too much 🙂

Congrats on the 2020 acceptances so far!! For anyone deferred, keep your heads up! :luck:

From what I was told they accept around the same amount of IS and OOS students for early admissions. I am IS and was accepted early admissions this round, and I heard the same thing from my interviewer at the end.

Hey so I received several thank you letters so Nicole has definitely sent them out. I guarantee you your interviews got your letters if you sent them. All scoring of the interview process had to be entered before we left for that day before you would have even had time to write out letters. So sending letters is simply a courtesy and has no effect on your admission to UF. The odds are that your students, faculty and residents that interviewed you are the ones too busy to reply. So unless you asked a specific question in your letter you most likely won't receive a reply.

Does anyone know if UF requires Fall Transcripts to be sent?

Has anyone checked their application page/portal where it once allowed you to see if UF received all of your transcripts and forms? Mine says that there is "no application on file"...just a little nervous and figured I'd ask if it happened to anyone else before I bother admissions with an email!

They do! They said hopefully by the end of January they like to have everyone's
Did they tell you that specifically or does it say it somewhere on their website? Just curious because I couldn't find anything about fall transcripts on their website!

I couldn't find it either so I called last week to find out!

interesting, okay well we should know about interview status by mid jan so I guess we should wait to send them after then? Or send them now? Did they say what they would prefer?

I got one of the early interviews so I'll be sending mine but yes she said once you find out your interview status! Because they aren't going to influence interviews it sounded like

What portal page? What is the link?
I've heard barely anything since applying. I assumed we would be emailed if some problem or if an interview arose.

Mine said no application on file when I used the link you posted and tried signing in. But when I got it from my bookmarks bar from where I originally had it saved, it worked fine. Maybe try accessing it from google or from a different link?

Hmm..I had gone through google and then through the UFl website...maybe since you had it on bookmarks from when the link worked or something? Oh well I'm not too concerned thanks though!

Can you share your link too?
I used the link shared above, went to google, and then also found the link through the UFCVM website. I still got "no application on file." The page I bookmarked says there is a problem with the page every time I try to load it.

Okay, Thank you! congrats on your interview!
