Did you receive a call to see if you had any questions?

Would you be a doll & share the response you get if you do call to see if you could find out what number you are on the wait-list? I'm dying to know where I stand too.
Yes, I will let everyone know what they say! I also emailed with a couple questions so I will let you know if they say anything helpful!

Yay thanks, you rock! I'm a little confused by the alternate process so any info helps 😛

I'm just curious to know the numbers of how many were put on the alternate list, even if they can't tell us our exact placement

Here are my stats as well:

- 3.44 cumulative GPA
- 3.37 (per UGA's science calculations: aka only including the pre-reqs, not ALL science courses together)

also FYI, as someone who was waitlisted last year, if you were denied/waitlisted, PLEASE go get a file review. It will tell you exactly what you can improve upon, they are direct comments from your reviewers and I'm sure UGA will take note of who looks for a way to improve things!! Parker/Esther at the admissions office are so so nice and you shouldn't be afraid to reach out. It will make such a difference.

Can't agree more, this is most likely the reason I was accepted this year.

Research:
-As part of the Honors College capstone requirements, I am working with a professor and researching mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki) feeding behavior, demonstrating they feed at the surface and go after zooplankton stuck in the surface tension of the water rather than mosquito larvae. This shows they might not be as good at preventing the spread of diseases like malaria because they are not as good a mosquito-control agent as previously thought (where the name "mosquitofish" comes from).

Letters of Rec:
-1 from research professor
-1 from UGA vet med grad (was called)
-1 from Cornell vet med grad

I'm going to try and call in a little while between classes! They also haven't answered my email so I can only assume they are swamped, but I desperately want to know too!

oh boy and I am emailing now because I never received a decision email 🙁

I'm just so confused by the "alternate" process....So, we have until April 15th to decide if we still want to be considered as an alternate....But as spots open up before that deadline, will we be notified before April 15th that we have an official offer? Or do we HAVE to respond and say we want to be considered as an alternate to even be given consideration at all? Does anyone understand what I'm saying....SOS :hilarious:😛

I have the exact same question for them! haha the whole sending in a paper that tells them we want a spot doesn't make sense to me, shouldn't they just start calling down their list and if someone doesn't want to be considered they can say it then? I really hope they aren't going to wait until they have received those papers before calling people! I just tried calling twice and no answer.

So glad someone is in the same boat as I am! Haha, I totally agree with your thinking though. I haven't tried calling yet but I want to as soon as I have time...

Hmmm I just called again and no answer but esther emailed me back about getting my alternate form at 3ish..I think they're hiding from us haha

I faxed my alternate form today, if anyone does get through on the phone, please let us know what they say!

No luck again today with calling...Has anyone left a message and heard back?

Accepted Delaware contract! Any other Delaware people on here?
Congratulations! I'm also from Delaware, but they accepted me as an out of state, non-contract student because they said they had a lot of competitive Delaware applicants this year. I was really hoping to get one of the contract seats, but I'm not sure if I would have any luck waiting on the DE contract alternate list. So more props to you for getting one of the two spots, it looks like it wasn't easy this year!

Thank you! Congrats on getting the out of state spot! Apparently those were super competitive this year, too. And I'm glad I found another Delaware person! I'm still not 100% sure I'm going to accept the spot though. I'm waiting to hear from Oklahoma State. Did you apply there too?

They answered my email I sent! So they are saying that they don't know what the waitlist order "looks like" and won't until April 15th when that alternate form is due...so I guess they really are going to make everyone wait until April to make alternates offers OR I think they are saying that to brush ppl off and not tell them their spot number.....either way the waiting game continues 😕

I mean they have to wait until those who were accepted choose to matriculate or not. And they cannot pressure people to choose before April 15th, so it makes sense that they have to wait until April to start dealing with the alternates.

True just most schools will start calling people as soon as they have spots open up. The waiting is torture lol

No, most schools do not start calling people as soon as spots open. Most schools wait until the April 15th deadline and they have received an answer from everyone. Which typically means until the end of the business day on April 15th for people to accept an offer or not. Then, after that period, they review alternates and start calling to offer people spots for open spaces. Those people are given some time to make a decision and then another batch of people are called if there are still open spots. That continues until all spots are filled. While some schools may call sooner than April 15th, if you are alternate your best bet is to not expect anything before April 15th and maybe not even until April 16th all the way through until classes start. And even there are some rare but random instances where people are called a week into classes starting to be offered a spot. Not often, but it does happen.

Oh wierd! I spoke to two different schools admissions who told me I could hear as soon as March about alternates if spots open up -maybe they're just being nice lol

It does vary a bit by school. With some calling sooner and many waiting until the April 15th deadline. Your best bet is just to sit tight and not expect much before the 15th... then if you get a call earlier you can be pleasantly surprised.

The email I received said the same thing: that the list isn't made until after April 15th... However, an advisor at my school told me today that a few people had already been called from the alternate list. I think it's best to get that form in so you are still considered as spots open up!

just realized the email said to fax or MAIL the form, not EMAIL :smack: wish I read that more closely, I thought I submitted my form the day it came!! haha

For those who have gotten confirmation of your alternate form being received, did you email and ask or did they just send you confirmation?

@ekcook @TohCey Woo, more Delaware people! I was accepted non-contract, out of state as well. Just gotta hope a contract seat opens up. But I'm definitely accepting regardless! Happiest day of my life!

if we got accepted, do we send in spring transcripts too once grades come out?

Just got an email from Parker confirming and thanking me for my alternate form and I don't think I emailed him first
