Hey guys! I got an interview invite via email today! 🙂

Nice! Do you interview on the west coast or East coast? I'm west coast.

I'm going to be interviewing on the West Coast in SLO! 🙂 Are you as well?
I would be, yeah. I submitted really early on and because I had applied before, I was verified quickly. By chance, they were in the area presenting for a partnership program with a nearby university so they offered to interview me at that time (August).

Wow that's amazing! How did it go? Was the interview more knowledge-based or more geared towards ethics or your experiences?

It was really nice. More laid back than my interview with a different school last year. It was a mixture of knowledge, stuff from your application, ethical problems, or other issues in the profession. The questions are directed by the interview team, but they can also ask questions based on what you say. Its conversational and it flows more naturally than some interviews I have heard about.

Hi!ill be interviewing in Canada too! Got any advice??? I can't go to my RVC interview because I can't afford the flight there so I really would like Glasgow to go well 🙂

Be candid. Know what you put on your application. Don't be afraid to say I don't know, but make an educated guess. Research the school. And importantly, relax. They're very kind people.

Thank you! Are there any math questions on how to calculate dosage?

Is the RVC interview in the states? Or are they actually calling you to Europe? Also, what day are you interviewing?

I am interviewing in Toronto for Glasgow on November 13th (!!). And I found a way to get to my RVC interview (30hrs by bus! Omg it'll suck but I really want to have my chance!!) and it's in Philly!

Where is everyone staying in Toronto for their interview? Anybody got any good deals 🙂

Awesome! I'm interviewing on the 15th. I actually happen to live ~30-45mins away from Toronto so unfortunately can't tell you much about deals for hotels and stuff! Check out Airbnb though 🙂
Also, oh my god 30 hours in bus? Good luck! If only a Skype interview was possible to make that situation easier for you!

Lol thanks!!! Best of luck to you too!!! It's great to be offered an interview and it's such a good experience to do it 🙂

Are there any threads for U of Edinburgh...?? Why do I feel like I’m the only person who applied and that this school is out in limbo?? Their website is no help at all either. I had to email them to make sure that my application was even received.. pls help

I applied to both. I kinda started a thread a while ago, though it's probably long gone. I don't think they'll send notifications until the end of the month. It's very hard to find people from past cycles who have applied to either of these schools. Maybe it's not popular? Or the people who apply just aren't as active on this site...?

How are you all dressing for the Glasgow interview? I brought some dress pants and a casual style blazer and my mom thinks I'm being too formal but it's interview attire right?

I did that. I think you want to treat it like a corporate or at least business interview. Though maybe not a full on pants suit, depending on the style

It's definitely not a full on pant suit. It's more of a short blazer without a button at the front and the top underneath is a patterned top. But it makes me feel better that I'm not over- dressing!

You should put your best foot forward! First impressions are really important, and how we present ourselves is a big factor. The dress code for all vet school interviews (I've never heard otherwise for any school) is business professional, so you'll see many people in nice suits. The slacks and blazer combo works too, so you should be fine! The schools want to see that you're taking this seriously and that you'll be able to represent the school in a professional manner. I did see one person in jeans and tennis shoes at one interview... she looked very out of place. Anyway, you will be great! Best of luck!!!

Was interviewed on the 9th of November and received my acceptance letter yesterday morning
Congratulations everyone! If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats? Starting to get worried now lol

Here were my stats! Hope it helps

I want to add that I think I was having a good day for my interview and I felt it went particularly well. I'm not sure it would have changed anything but it definitely played a role as my cgpa isn't extraordinary and I found out i got accepted only a week after interview.

My cGPA is very similar to yours and I interviewed on the same day as you I think! Now I'm just stressed LOL. Congratulations again!

From what I understand once you got to the interview that became the bulk of the decision and it must be a rolling system because there were so many interviews so I wouldn't worry. I think goforthejug and I may be some of the very first, so there is still plenty of time for you to hear back!

I am a very average student. I am also a student that started at community college. Had a 3.5 GPA there and was in the honor society, and at my school now I have just about a 3.0 GPA. My experience is what helped me. I have been working at an animal clinic for 2 years as both a kennel attendant and as a vet assistant. I also have volunteer hours with an exotic animal rescue and with a wildlife rehab rescue. I am also the president and founder of the pre-vet society at my school currently.

I actually ended up getting a rejection from Glasgow last week. Turns out I completely bombed my interview (not in a good way). I wish I practiced talking in front of a mirror more because stats wise I was good to go

If it makes you feel any better, I'm probably going to fail orgo again and then they'll rescind their my acceptance

Did they give you a conditional offer based on the outcome of your orgo class?

Not that I'm aware of, I just figured all acceptances are conditional based off of final grades submitted

I am really sorry to hear that. Getting rejected is never fun. Did they give you any feedback as to what happened in the interview? From my experience having done a number of interviews really helped me for this one because I just felt I knew more of what to expect. Have you applied anywhere else?

Sorry to hear this. I do empathize, if it's any consolation. Vet school applications were several years back for me now, but I definitely remember that my Glasgow interview was by far my worst one. Embarrassingly bad. I was extremely anxious and not really prepared for some of the questions that they ended up asking, and so wound up stumbling over my words a lot. You're definitely not alone in feeling like you bombed it.

Yeah, Joyce just told me I appeared very nervous and my answers needed a bit more depth, which I totally understand. I walked out of that interview feeling like I didn't explain myself well at all so I wasn't too shocked when I got the news! But it's okay because now I know where to improve for future interviews. I haven't had much experiences doing interviews in terms of getting a job etc. in the past either because I've some how been lucky to get hired on the spot, so I guess the lack of interview skills really got me this time!
I am waiting to hear back from Dublin and that's the only other school I've applied to this cycle so I'm really hoping that one works out for me.

Thanks! I actually really needed to hear that. This whole time I've been feeling like I'm the only one that got rejected from Glasgow this cycle since I haven't heard from anyone else that interviewed in NY or Toronto. Makes me feel like if I just prepared even a little harder I would've had it!

If you need any sort of resources to help you practice, I have a bunch of behavioural, ethical, situational interview questions that seem to come up a lot to help me practice, as well as general tips I've picked up along the way that have been beneficial for me (I am a nervous person!). After my interview for university of Guelph last may (for which I did not make the cut) I practiced a lot in front of friends and family, and it's helped me a lot for the interviews I've had so far. And I really can't stress enough that the first one is usually the hardest just because nerves can really get the best of you (I am almost 100% sure that's why my interview score for Guelph wasn't high enough for me to get admitted).
I wish you the very best for Dublin!

I would loveee to have those resources if you have any way of sending them to me LOL. I can really use it.

I'm so sorry. Did they offer you a file review, or an interview assessment? Do you still have other schools you could get in to?

I'm still waiting on Dublin! I asked Joyce for feedback about my application for why I was rejected and all I got was a single sentence email back saying "You seemed nervous and needed more depth to your answers", so that's pretty much all of the feedback I got. I don't think I had any major flaws in my actual application considering I got the interview in the first place.

Hello!! Very late on this thread, after the interview I knew I did not leave a great impression, so was expecting a rejection (which happened later) lol, so didn't keep up with this thread. I was nervous, overshared irrelevant info, and also didn't explain myself at all. I didn't even ask Joyce because I know the answer lmao. So just reading this now,... if you could also send me these resources I would be eternally grateful!!!! I've got a Dublin & Ross interview, hoping for more, and I would really really really like to be very well prepared and thrive! I would be starting vet school in my late twenties, so would love for this to happen sooner than later haha!
I will send my email in private, yes? Thank you!!!!

Does anybody that interviewed at Glasgow have any sample questions? (Not verbatim) especially for knowledge based that they are likely to ask? I'm super nervous for my interview and want to make sure I am correctly preparing. Thank you!

Many knowledge based questions were based on my experience so they won't ask you about something you've never worked with before (i would imagine). Something along the lines of "What is one of the most common issues you see working in a cattle farm?" and then "why is such and such issue problematic for milk production?"

Make sure you are able to explain why you chose Glasgow and why you are considering their program. They asked me which other schools I applied to and if the 5 year program vs. 4 years at those other vet schools mattered to me because of course, most people prefer a 4 year program. It is true that they ask you most of the knowledge based questions from your own experiences and the answers you give them, however in my case, I've never really worked with large animals before so they asked me what the role of veterinarians is with food animals etc. which I wasn't entirely prepared to answer but I tried my best! They also asked me if I were to open my own clinic at this very moment, what's one piece of equipment I would have and why.

My biggest piece of advice to you would be to worry less about what they could possibly ask you and focus more on practicing your speaking skills and working on articulating your thoughts well. That was my biggest downfall during my interview even though I knew exactly what I wanted to say for each question, but I struggled to get my points across well! Practice in front of a mirror, ask your friends to critique you, your family, see if your university/college has interview prep sessions available that you can attend. I can say for certain that if I had worked on my interview skills more prior this interview my outcome would have been so different!
Hope this helps 🙂

Hello! U.S. student! Had my interview 1/30 got accepted 1/31!!! Have another interview and waiting on 3 other schools, but glad to know I have an acceptance! Joyce and Neil were so nice and the questions built off my experiences like people have said. Loved this experience thus far.

Congratulations! I loved talking to them! They are so friendly and the response from this school is so fast!
