University of Illinois c/o 2020 Applicants

My spring break starts on Friday and I'll be leaving the address where the letter will be sent. AKA I won't know I got in or not until the 2nd week of March. Woohoo...

I'm all for some hope. But I'm a realist at heart. Lol. If I hear an acceptance by the end of the day Friday, I might have to ask for an emergency night off Saturday night to celebrate.

@Leopard Spots, could you stay an extra day out two to wait for the letter?

Nope :/ They said they can't switch the address now and they won't tell me over the phone after Friday. The admissions person literally said "looks like it's gonna be a long couple weeks for ya" ....haha...

That sucks. Well, it'll taste all the sweeter. Lol

So from what I understand, scores were calculated the day of interviews and just the cut offs for how many were invited occurred today. I would bet the letters are sent tomorrow morning so I'm really hoping they'll come to those of us on campus on Thursday and everyone Friday!

Really confused as to why they're so dead-set on sending out letters. I personally could not care less about receiving a letter/having them waste tons of paper/time sending out snail mail. A quick email would suffice.

Do you know exactly how many people are invited for acceptance and how many are waitlisted. Someone stated about 120 before were invited for acceptance but didn't know if that was from a inside source or just a guess?

No form of communication is perfect, but the fact that the school is willing to put more time into this and make it a bit more formal is kind of cool. Snail mail also eliminates any "I didn't get an email!" calls.

I don't have exact numbers, but I don't know that double the seats are accepted.

Not going to lie, I would be pissed if I didn't get a letter. There's something about opening a physical item and having the physical proof that I made it that makes it even more real to me. Plus, I don't trust the internet or the cloud. Digitizing everything is the dumbest thing our species has done in my opinion.

You know, it makes sense though. This school is high middle of the pack for price and so there are plenty of schools that others will choose based off that fact alone.

Yeah that is true. It sucks they are up there on the price but.. It was a really great school and I loved the feel of it. I'm just hoping we all hear good news!

My mail comes at like 5:30!!! Like Jesus!

I know some people 😎 just kidding, but I did hear from a reliable source that decisions are being made tomorrow. I've also been on the edge of my seat about letters being sent from WI, so I wanted to help everyone avoid the incessant mail checking until it was truly time!

Good lookin out :bow::bow:

We do have a snowstorm coming through the Midwest this week, so that could delay things depending on how bad it gets!
Nothing stops the US mail

I've heard 75-80 IS right off the bat, not sure about OOS

Mail gets here between 9:30-11:30 am depending on if we have the cute mail man or the sucky mail lady. So I'll let you guys know if something gets here, though I won't open it until my mom can get on the phone.

They said 120 OOS were accepted for 60 OOS positions. It was said in the information session 🙂

Those chances though. I wonder how their wait list moves. We did an interview thing today for the RAs and I started to over think my questions and feel like I'll be wait listed. Lol. With 100 people being wait listed, it would be interesting to see how it moves.

If you do get in as an OOS are you able to switch to IS residency after 2 years or at all? I heard no, but want to verify with a current student
Unfortunately, no.

One of the upperclassmen posted a few weeks back that, under certain circumstances (I believe a marriage was involved), you might be able to, but they in no way 'advertise' a residency switch.

That sucks. :/ thank you for clearing that up for me!

Quick questions for current students, does Illinois live stream and record lectures? One of the schools I visited did that and I was impressed by that little convenience. Also, is there any sort of dress code that is expected?

Thanks! Hope to hear news soon...

I feel the last day they can mail anything if they haven't would be tomorrow to ensure we get news by end of February like they said. Cause some OOS will take about 3 days to receive mail.
Yeah, sorry, we are under a blizzard warning. Lots of snow all day! It may have slowed down the mail IF they have sent anything.

From what I remember, I thought that he said letters would only be mailed out by Friday. Not that we would receive them by then?

No dress code unless you're on clinical rotations (thank jeebus)! We also have all core course lectures recorded. They are recorded with the mic the prof wears, and then you see the projection of the lecture (so you could see any writing or mouse movements the prof does).

Also, yes, bad snowstorm. The entire school/hospital was shut down at 2PM with the exception of emergency services.

Can't predict the weather I guess. -__-
Hopefully you guys hear soon. I definitely don't miss the waiting game. I can't even describe that intense anxiety I felt while checking my portal once I knew decisions had posted! Try to relax and know that decisions are coming....eventually!

lol that is easier said than done as you know 😉 at least I work the next 3 days. Will keep me busy for at least 12 hours out of the day hehe

That is the information that I got out of the presentation as well. I don't think anything was said about sending the letters any earlier than Friday the 26th.

I thought it was said that the absolute last day they would be sent was the 26th but they believed they would be sent earlier than that.

I think even if they said they wouldn't be mailed till march we would all still be freaking

That is exactly how I recall it. They said last Friday at the earliest letters would be sent, and this friday as the latest.

If the letters were picked up today (campus mail for most campuses is picked up in the mid morning by a postman with the campus as the only part of the route), they were most likely (even with the snow) processed today. I'd bet my rent free life that Illinois residents will start to hear Friday and the of us on Saturday.

As long as I am not the only one going insane over here!!!

Now it is out of my hands, I'm not even thinking about it, honestly, unless someone brings it up. Keeping busy is easy for me since I have to manage 268 kids and the building they live in. We have recontacting next week and midterm break the week after, so have to get ready for all of that, on top of daily stuff. Thankfully, the craziness that was weeks 1-5 has eased and haven't had any major emergencies since earlier this month.

The way I'm looking at it right now, my campus will go on whether or not I am accepted and I have enough going on that if I thought about it, I would be useless.

They are drilling the walls outside LAC100 to place new oxygen lines. My class contacted Dr. Foreman and the drilling was immediately stopped. The contractors have been provided windows of time when the room is unoccupied as to not disturb didactic courses. They are upgrading our facilities so this is a good thing. The wires have just been crossed about the timing!

Nothing in the mail in Nebraska, guys

All lectures are recorded and we don't have a dress code for didactic lectures.

Looks like it'll be tomorrow to start off, guys. lol.

Do you know if the letters have been mailed yet? Did a little birdy tell you by chance lol

Haha I wish! I haven't been able to talk to my little birdy again this week, but I suspect they will come tomorrow at least for those of us that are IS!

Should we be on the look out for a size difference in envelopes correlating with acceptance or waitlisting??

Not as of 930 this morning. Will check again at 230 after class. I live on campus here.
