So on the website it says registration begins at 7:30-9 and the at 9 it switches rooms. but in the email it says to register at least 30 min beforehand. So do we have to come in the morning to register even if our time slot is in the afternoon? or can we just register anytime as long as its 30 minutes before the interview? the day is close enough that now I'm starting to question everything lol

Nope you don’t have to come early to register. If you have a later time slot, you still come half an hour before your interview, you just check in at a different location than the early morning people.

Getting more and more anxious as the day nears and I feel like I'm starting to get sick (darn coworkers coughing everywhere!)! EEEEEeeeekkkk!! How is everyone else feeling?!

What’re your favorite/the best places to eat? I’m coming in tomorrow with my mom and at some point we’re going to need dinner  and rather than just googling, I figured I’d get opinions from people who actually live there

Okay guys, I know answers on this exist for interviews in general but I wanted to make sure it is okay specifically for this interview....

I got my nose pierced a while back and I have absolutely no idea how to take it out without going back to the piercer to have them do it for me :nailbiting: I've read on a few threads that it is generally accepted to have a small stud in, but I just wanted to make sure Illinois isn't like ultra conservative before I just go ahead and leave it in for the interview! If it's a definite no, my next 24 hours will be spent trying to figure this thing out. It is honestly starting to make me doubt if I am even smart enough to be a vet LOL

I love me some Black Dog bbq, but it's a little pricey. Also love me some Vinny''s pizza for something easy and simple. It's also right next to Jarling's Custard, so you got dinner and dessert. Mary Ann's on Kirby and Neil is also good and open 24/7.

I go here for undergrad! Black Dog's been mentioned and it's pretty darn good. Burnt ends are the way to go if they haven't sold out for the day yet. (They have two locations, so go to the one in Urbana, I heard it's better) Courier Cafe is cute and quaint. 7 Saints in downtown Champaign is awesome - sliders are the bomb. They also have a good combo platter meal that allows you to get a slider, side, and soup or salad for like $10 I think? There's also a bar for after-interview purposes 😉 Cream and Flutter is also nearby - gourmet cupcakes. Maize and Dos Reales is great for Mexican food. If you're feeling fancy, Biaggi's is Italian (pasta and fancy pizza) but sorta pricey.

Green St by the main quad (we have 3!) is our "main" street, lined with bars and chain restaurants like Chipotle, Noodles and Co, McDonalds, Subway etc. We also have a large Asian population so there is a plethora of Chinese and Korean restaurants to choose from as well. If you like sushi, our best sushi restaurant is on Green St and it's called Sakanaya. Waits for tables can be an hour long or so, that's how popular it is.

I will also second the Seven Saints suggestion!

Courier Cafe has amazing milkshakes. Destihl is super yummy too and has good beer, and is downtown so is a good spot to eat and then walk around. Papa Del's for pizza (Chicago deep dish, it can take an hour to make the pizza itself fyi). Alexander's down by the mall is a great steak place (one of those 'grill your own' places) but pricey. Thai food: Siam Terrace.

ETA: Also, good luck everyone! Hopefully the rain isn't too bad. Chances are if you see someone with ridiculously frizzy hair from the humidity, it's me

Just got to the area! Chillaxing at the hotel right now and probably heading out for dinner in a little bit. Anyone staying at Hampton Inn??

I don't see grumpy cat or toothless. Think you might mean dya... lol

You know, I almost deleted it cause I was like, "Hmmm, is this right?" And then I was like, "The sass will be worth the incorrect tag."

What's the verdict on parents coming on tours with us? Are they welcomed to come, because I was going to bring mine until I met someone today who said that was frowned upon 🙁

I brought my mom last year. Definitely not frowned on at all.
How long do the tours usually last?
@batsenecal Will know the for sure answer to this, but I would say 30-45 minutes? Maybe?
The website says 30 min so should be about that, maybe a little longer if there’s lots of questions and such

I'm at the Hampton!

Also, how long is the interview itself supposed to last? So sorry if this was already answered. I didn't see anything about it following the 'what to expect' link.

Mine lasted maybe 15-20 minutes, I remember some classmates saying they had 45 minute interviews. Probably just depends on the flow of conversation and how much talking your interviewers do.
