University of Toronto Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Does anyone know if they also sent out 270 offers last year? Cause ya 50-60 people declining does seem like a bit much but I heard 20-30 got on from the wait list last year.. So maybe 50-60 people did decline?..

I got in! Yes! wow! been so anxious along the way from work about the moment I would log in PharmSIS to check my decision result, that I even tried to practice Bhuddhism to have peace in mind!!

Anxiety --> checking --> seeing I got in --> didn't say anything at all for a moment --> then scream:soexcited::soexcited::soexcited::soexcited::boom: wow!
:diebanana:

Hey homies. I got in 😀

I think I'll be going to UT this September and decline my UW acceptance. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you guys (CONGRATULATIONS)! For those people who didn't make the cut, do not fret. I was in your exact shoes last year... in fact, I missed one of the criterias on the PCAT by 1 %tile! I didn't give up, I wrote PCAT a second time, applied to UT again and got accepted.

So no matter what, DON'T GIVE UP! 👍

GG i got bottom half waitlisted that's pretty much a rejection..... guess I'll have to boost my GPA and reapply next year -_-, trying to look on the bright side since I'm was only second year and first time applying =). It was a fun experience! Congrats to everyone else that got in!!

Hey guys,

I've been lurking these forums for a while and just decided to post. I've gotten into both UofT and UW 🙂D - I didn't get in to UofT last year and didn't have the prereqs for UW). I'm a bit stuck on which one to accept, at first I was dead set on UW but now I'm wondering if thats the best route. If you were in my position which one would you choose, and for what reasons?

I would like to share my results to compare the competition strength so that everyone would have an idea, and so that future pharmacy applicants can use this as a gauge. My stats are:

cGPA: 85.00 % all pre-requisite courses completed
PCAT:
VA 45
BI 98
CH 88
RC 82
QA 75
COM 88
WRITING 3/3
interview:

I think in the first couple of stations I did well but to the stations near the end (8 and 9) I didn't do as well and did only soso on 1 of the stations. So in total, 2.5 stations weren't good (enough).[those are my personal feelings only]

For the 10th (and final) station, I didn't think I said it that well but I was able to convey determination on the spot so that (I saw) the interviewer gave me a mark close to the end (like an 8 or 9)!
It is really important not to rehearse too much but to know the skills and to be able to apply to those skills on the spot.

Congrats Everyone!!!!! First Entry-PharmD Class!!!!

😀

Did the Government approve a First Entry-PharmD program already?

Congratulatios to everyone, I am happy for you guys and don't forget to sign
up for 1T5 Face- book.

AHHHH.

I got in too!

Still hoping for UBC.

But pumped cause either way I'm doing pharm next year!

Interview must be important cause my GPA and PCAT weren't too strong at all.

Hi this is my first time on this forum. I just want to find out from those that already got in or have knowledge of the approximate admission averages, what my chances are in getting into UofT pharmacy.

My mark is 80%, all my chem courses are above 70

PCAT:
Verbal: 45
Bio:80
Reading:71
Quant:79
Chem:88
Composite:79
Writing: 3/3

Interview: felt like i did bad in half of them...

Thank you for your time.

Congrats everyone!

I cant wait to see everyone here in class this september!

I guess I'll help out the people next year looking through this thread with my stats.

My average is ~80%
All science marks pretty decent except orgo chem II with 61% (trolololol 🙁)

PCAT

Should I join the FB group even though I'm not sure I'll be attending?

OMG i finally got up the courage to check it and I GOT INNNNNNN!!!! I am sooooo excited 😀😀😀😀 and can't wait to meet all of you guys!!!!!!!!

I GOT IN!!!!! 😱😛😀 I've been waiting since this morning and was at work when the result came in! I'm really excited to meet everyone on here as well and it's finally good to know that this long journey has come to an end! 😀

GG i got bottom half waitlisted that's pretty much a rejection..... guess I'll have to boost my GPA and reapply next year -_-, trying to look on the bright side since I'm was only second year and first time applying =). It was a fun experience! Congrats to everyone else that got in!!
Sorry to hear that, but, like everyone said, don't fret about it. I got rejected last year, not even an interview because I missed the writing cutoff(2.5 instead of 3) but had a 84 composite. Just work on your GPA, make sure to have good pCAT marks and apply again! Since you went through the interview already and with advice from everyone on here, you'll get it!

Was it just me, or did anyone else scream like a maniac? My neighbour must have thought I was getting murdered.
hehe, I didn't scream, I'm still in a shock state. I guess the long wait and being at work for 8.5hr kinda made it easier to open the link to see the decision. Knowing that PhArMaCiSt1 got in before me helps 😛

OMG i finally got up the courage to check it and I GOT INNNNNNN!!!! I am sooooo excited 😀😀😀😀 and can't wait to meet all of you guys!!!!!!!!

yayy, congratulations!!!!!!!! you totally deserve it! 😀

Congrats everyone who got it. To anyone who didn't, don't feel bad, just work on whatever you believe was the reason for not getting accepted and I'm sure you'll get in next year! 🙂

Just got back from work and checked PharmSIS!

And... I MADE ITTTTTTTT :soexcited:

best moment of my life when I clicked on pharmSIS 😀
I can't wait to see you all in September...

Congrats to everyone!

Any other OOP's on here who made it?

I got in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I'm already in Waterloo....!!! What do I do!! (actually, I already know, it's an easy decision....I just look at the practical advantages...not the name....PM me if you want to know what I mean.)

AHHHH.

I got in too!

Still hoping for UBC.

But pumped cause either way I'm doing pharm next year!

Interview must be important cause my GPA and PCAT weren't too strong at all.

Do you mind sharing your GPA and PCAT score?🙂

yayy, congratulations!!!!!!!! you totally deserve it! 😀

Thank you soo much and I'm much looking forward to you joining us at UofT😀

Just got back from work and checked PharmSIS!

And... I MADE ITTTTTTTT :soexcited:

best moment of my life when I clicked on pharmSIS 😀
I can't wait to see you all in September...

WOHOOOOO congrats 🙂 I take it that you are accepting UofT rather than waterloo. Can't wait to finally be classmates 🙂

I just want to send out a HUGE congratulations to everyone who made it this year and to those who didn't, never give up and try try again. You've all been through the mmi's once so the next time you will do even better.

Btw, to those who got in, do you guys want to reveal your identity or not? 🙂

In the same boat as you 🙁

Me too 🙁

I have to talk with my parents and some of my relatives (who are currently pharmacists), and discuss the pros and cons to each program :S

I made it too!!!!!!! I've been out celebrating and wanted to check the forum so bad so see all the "excitedness" . wooooo, finally!!

To those waitlisted or rejected, do not give up; there is still hope, and if you do not get in this year, take it from me: I was wait listed (bottom half) last year, and it was a big disappointment when I never received that offer of admission.... But in a year, I studied harder, brought my GPA up by about 1-2%, took the PCAT again and did really well, AND did a mock mmi interview to prepare for the interviews, and got in!

Trust me, getting rejected made me want it and work for it that much more, and I got results!
Congrats to everyone who made it, can't wait to see you all at phrosh!

I can't believe we have to take 12 courses.

I also am worried about my living situation as it seems to be too late for rez and I know no one in Toronto.

Oh weeellll.

I'm in as well 🙂. Congratz to all.

Stats:

GPA: 3.9
PCAT: 89%
Interview: Failed every station except acting haha 🙁

I got in!!!! 😀

OMG, I screamed, then cried, then cheered and called people LOL.

Scores for comparison:

cGPA: 3.6
PCAT: 75 comp, (3.5/3.5)
Interview: rocked it, imo.

it seems like we cannot have course exemptions in the new curriculum...>.<...OH NO!!!!

I'm in! 🙂 I look forward to meeting you all!!

I'm so scared that my acceptance would disappear off my pharmsis. I keep checking every once in a while that its still there. LOL

LOL just changed mine =P

I guess I'll share my stats as well:

GPA: 81.5%
PCAT: 90 comp
interview: I felt I did well in most of them, except one, where the interviewer kept staring at me without blinking.... I completely blanked out so many times

I got accepted! It was a complete surprise as my stats are sorta mediocre (especially compared with a bunch of you SDNers). However I do feel that I absolutely aced the interview. So to all you peeps with meh stats, it is possible.

GPA: 3.3
PCAT: 76

1st yr gpa: 2.7
2nd yr gpa: 3.3
3rd yr gpa: 3.5
cGPA: 3.17ish

PCAT: 71% (with 91% in chem)

Interview: I did really well in all stations

Here's hope for people with a lower GPA & PCAT. I guess I did really well on the interview which made my application competitive. My chem marks are not good (in the 60s) but I think my 3rd year really showed my improvement.

Congrats everyone on getting in! Keep trying if you don't get in! I didn't get in last year, but this year I was successful!!

See ya Sept.

Hey Everyone!

I got accepted this year as well! I'm excited to meet all of you in September!! CAN'T WAIT 😀

I don't know about you guys but I really think having less applicants helped me get in this year. Sometimes its better to be lucky than good I guess. 👍I'm glad I didn't listen to all those people that said only a 3.7 GPA and 90+ PCAT is competitive.

YAAY got in 😀

gpa: 3.6
pcat:80
interview: most felt alright..few felt like i could've done better
