VCOM/BLUEFIELD POST BACC 2018-2019

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I called today. They said the admissions committee was meeting. She said that we should hear something via email. Unfortunately, my last letter was submitted till 4-05 so its changed from February verification to April. I have a long way to go. I guess they're sending emails and mail.
I hope you guys get your letter soon!! thank you all..I'm guessing your permanent address but I only provided one address so I am not sure which one they use.
Congrats!!!!!

Same here! I was verified in February, but my last letter was submitted in April.

She also said ~40 people have been accepted so far and confirmed that they are reviewing applications by date of verification. I'm just glad to hear they are on February already.

I'm a little confused about the whole letter/email situation. Does anyone know which is sent out first? Because it seems like most people are receiving acceptance notifications via mail. Are you guys then receiving an acceptance email afterwards also?

I also just checked and while I was verified in January, it looks like my last letter was received Feb 2nd. I'm not sure what it means that people are already receiving letters from applications verified in Feb but I haven't heard anything yet. Any ideas? I'm suppose to let my apartment complex know whether or not I am renewing my lease by the end of this month (tomorrow!) and have no idea what kind of timeframe to expect a response. So if anyone has any idea, it would be so appreciated!

And congrats to everyone that's received acceptances so far. Definitely an exciting opportunity!

I called Bluefield today and she told me that whenever they make a decision that they would let me know via email. She also told me that you are put in que when they receive all the documents. They were waiting on my letter so instead of being verified in Feb. I found out I was verified in April. So you would be considered verified Feb 2nd. She said the committee was reviewing apps.

Well at least they are moving along. Right. Me too!

Question to those that applied early: Were you completed/verified on that day? Like was everything submitted on that day including letters?

I've been accepted.:soexcited::banana: Found out today in Mail.

Transferred my DO app and was verified in early February.

Stats:
sGPA: 3.26
cGPA: 3.54
MCAT: 498

I think that they are reviewing and accepting in the order verified for the people who applied through postbaccas. As for the people who transferred, it seems that it's random.

I was verified a day after you! Still haven't heard back yet but I guess no news is also good news? lol Keep your head up!
Yea lol no news must be good. Have you heard anything ? Also what were your stats if you don’t mind me asking

Nope nothing yet =(

cGPA- 3.44
sGPA- 3.44
MCAT 494

I scribed a ton and volunteered a ton. Was also a chemist for a while too.

I’ve had very bad luck with the mcat, that’s why

Congrats on the acceptance, btw.
What is your current MCAT score?
Wouldn't you rather sign up for a prep course for the MCAT and spend about 2K vs. doing this program and spend over 30K (just for tuition)?
I am not saying anything bad about this program, I think it's one the best there is but in your case..you might not need it, imo.

Congrats! Did you get your acceptance via mail or email? Also did you get an email about the BC login?

I got my log in from BC this morning and decided to give admissions a call and I was told that I’ve been granted admission.

You only get a mybc log in information only if you’ve been accepted. So if you got an email from them. Def expect an acceptance letter In the next few days

I think it is safe to say that! It happened to me as well. Got the email on a Wednesday and the official letter the following Monday

I’ve taken the Kaplan course and renewed it each time for the multiple times I’ve taken the mcat. I took a total of 20+ mcat practice tests for my last mcat and averaged a 508 under full timed testing conditions and environment. But my actual mcat score turned out to be a 494. It’s not like I don’t know my stuff. For some reason the mcats been not working out for me.

With this program I finally have the chance to actually pursue my dream. I’m not worried about the cost of the program. My plans to work my butt off and get that December acceptance. Cuz in the end, med school is gonna put you in $200k of debt. What’s another $30k for this program right ?

And everyone I know from vcom med school has said that every student in their class who did the post bac is literally killing it in the first and second year of med school.

And I’ve been out of school for a few years and I think it’ll be a great opportunity.

In the exact situation as you with the same stats.

Im in the same boat as you, new MCAT toasted me and Ive been out of school for a while.

Thanks man, appreciate it !

Btw are you waiting to hear back from them too ?

No, I was accepted for the last cycle, but I couldn't enroll due to issues with the private loan they were offering at the time, so I took a different route.
You guys are lucky that the program is now federally funded, which is why their tuition went up.

If you don’t mind me asking which route did you end up taking!?

I got accepted! (it was in the mail today, but forgot to check the mail yesterday... oops!)

I was verified on 2/6 but not all of my recommendations were in at that time.
cGPA 3.73
sGPA 3.51

I received the BC login email on 4/25.
I hope this helps with the timeline. Goodluck to all!!

Well I'm gonna take my lack of hearing anything as best case scenario in the maybe pile since I was verified Feb 8th lol.

Did you call Sheila? I got the BC login email this morning and thinking of calling tomorrow.

Are the people who transferred their apps and got accepted just not posting? I'm mainly seeing people who got accepted through postbaccas posting. Also, has anyone got a clear answer from admissions whether they're reviewing transferred apps in order or is it just random? A previous post on here stated it may be random.

Good question... also are they sending rejections out now too?!

I’m not sure how they’re deciding what order to review transferred applications, but Sheila did mention to me that they were reviewed separately/not in order with the postbaccas applications. When was your application transferred?

In February

I believe they are sending them out. A few people have posted they have been rejected in this thread.
I saw a few, but can’t help but wonder if they are saving the bulk of the rejections until the end ... :/

I've been anxiously waiting to hear back! I was verified 1/31. I'm assuming I went into the maybe pile?? I'm looking for any sign. I hope I'm not dragged along just to get rejected in the end. I'm an applicant from Arizona and I'm not sure if this is a negative factor. Has anyone been accepted from the west coast?

Wow its so crazy but comforting to know that i am not the only that has had such an awful experience with the mcat. This test has literally been a nightmare. Scoring 507-515 on practice exams and still only managing to score below 500 on yout third attempt. Its crazy.
