Yes, absolutely thanks! The school systems in blacks/cburg are fantastic
If Bluefield is running admissions, are they only looking at students with above average numbers? The person above seemed like they would have been a good candidate. I'm scared, guys.
Certainly programs want the best candidates they can acquire because those students are more likely to complete the program and go onto other graduate programs thus creating a strong track record for the school and bolster their success, ranking, etc, but their website reports a requirement of 3.0 minimum overall and that someone with a MCAT of 494 would be at an advantage. I get they want the best candidates they can get, but the program is intended to help those who are not the best candidates. Someone, who on all other fronts, is a good candidate but needs academic enhancement, so I too am quite confused by this. Frankly someone with 508 MCAT, 3.8 GPA should be turned away as this program does not meet their needs, but schools are hesitant to take risks. Some schools, (I do not think VCOM is one of them) will report lower requirements just to receive payment for apps.
When I applied to med schools last year and received multiple secondaries something eventually clicked that they just wanted my money because I honestly had no chance for an interview. But did that stop me from forking out an extra $65 to each school? Hell no! Because hey, maybe they think I'm a really nice guy.
Well at least we know they are sending some decisions. No idea what their decision making process may be though- that rejection seems a little strange to me as well.
Do you mean account page on the PostbacCas website?
That was the message on the Bluefield login page after they sent me a login username to track my admission status
Current Post-Bacc student here. Just wanted to stop by and wish you guys good luck for admissions!
I know it can be a difficult experience with the waiting game and general fear of the unknown. For last year's cycle, I applied in early January and received my acceptance in June. I was rejected by LECOM's Post-Bacc and was a very borderline candidate to say the least, so don't give up hope as it is still early. If your goal is to matriculate into medical school, this program is an absolute blessing and definitely one of the best in terms of true linkage.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions.
I got accepted!!
That’s fantastic! Congrats! Did you submit a traditional app or were you an ACCOMA transfer?
Congrats!!! Did you get an email? Also do you mind sharing your stats?
Congratulations!!!! Did you transfer your app from the medical school or applied using postbac? And when did you apply?
Accepted! cGPA 3.67 sGPA 3.48 494 MCAT. Verified through CAS early November.
Congrats! I didn't realize they would be working on the week end they must have a ton of applicants
It came by mail, so they may have sent it on like Thursday and it just got here today. I was expecting an email too. Glad I haven't been checking my email every hour for the past 3 months, haha.
*starts to stalk mailbox in addition to inbox*
*Refreshes sdn 12 times in 6 seconds, checks email on 4 different computers then checks mailbox. Follows postal worker home and asks to go through his car. It's not there. Goes postal on them*
When did you apply?
Hello. Urgent question. Since the deadline is tonight do we just have to submit the application by tonight or we need our rec letter writers to send letters and everything by today?
i might be wrong but before you submit it it asks you whether you have everything completed, one being getting those letters of rec." But i might be wrong and wouldn't hurt to submit it except $$
Oh no. Ok. When I submitted the letter request it had an option to have the writer submit after April 15th. Does that mean it could still be completed? Any idea?
not really sure, i'd call Bluefield tomorrow to make sure, as long as you've requested your letters of rec. But i would submit my application tonight!
ok I will do that. Thank you!
Before you call be aware that today is the Memorial for the Va Tech shooting. It may be in poor taste to call about your application today.
I have been honored with an acceptance to the program! I was verified 11/16 3.4 cGPA 3.0 sGPA via PostBacCas.
Congrats to you!!!! Glad to know they are moving forward!!! Was it also by mail?
Way to go! I'll see you there!
Awesome to hear! I pretty much have the same Stats with a 499 MCAT score do you mind sharing your MCAT
Good to hear! Good to hear! My stats are just a bit above yours. Hopefully I get accepted too. Congrats on your acceptance.
I'm waiting on my scores.
Did you find out via mail or email?? I first heard notifications were being sent out via email, but I’m not sure anymore since someone else said they received a letter. Just so I know which to constantly check.. lol
I found out via letter.
This isn't good. The mailman often puts mail in wrong box! He is old!
Good Morning! I called Sheila today, she told me 25 students have been admitted to the program thus far.
Wow, that's so great for them! I'm anxious to how many spots will be left by the time they get to the February/March verified people. Last year, I was told 120 people was the cap to the program.
I hope they go through them quick, I have deposits due soon to other programs.
it is stated in their website, the class size this year it's 120 as well.
Yea I hope they won't fill up by the time they get to Feb that would be disheartening
I wonder if they are looking at them as they were received or if they have a system of filtering them based on metrics. It seems its first come first serve currently which I think is reasonable. Did they say how many they have rejected so far by chance?
Hey guys! By chance, do any of you guys know if they send out rejections through mail too? I haven' gotten anything yet and was verified in December.
I also think is first come, first serve, they are probably working on late December/first week of January. I didn't ask how many has been rejected. @DaddyNoBeard you will probably hear from them the next week or so. I was verified February 1st, I have to wait longer :-(
I feel like I've been waiting for 2 years lol but thank you for the heads up! 2 or 3 more weeks shouldn't be too much longer! I think I can do that haha
I was rejected my states sGPA 3.0 cGPA 3.3 and MCAT 499. I am okay with it though I am attending LECOMS post bacc program. Good luck guys. Also I applied in February and I got an email not letter. So maybe rejections come via email and getting in comes in the mail who knows.
Sorry to hear. Congrats on LECOM though! Did you transfer your application from AACOMAS or did you do the post bac cas app?
Sorry to hear! Good luck and congrats on LECOM though!!
