VCU atmosphere

Hey all -- Wanted to see if there are any VCU med students on these forums. I have to choose between a couple Virginia schools and a general supportive atmosphere is high on my list of priorities. At VCU are the staff and other students supportive, encouraging, etc? Thanks in advance 🙂

Bump. I was wondering the same thing myself. Everyone is always saying how friendly and supportive to each other the students are at EVMS, is this true for VCU as well?

Hi there,

I'm a first year student at VCU and I can assure you that the atmosphere is VERY supportive. Staff, Faculty AND your fellow students are more than willing to help you out on any issue. I know that med schools can be competitive but it is not like that at all here. Everyone helps everyone out (we just had a test and students make copies of their review notes for the whole class). Hope this helps.

Hello,

I'm a 3rd year at VCU and I find that everyone here has been very supportive of each other and I haven't met anyone who didn't like it here or wanted to transfer out (for reasons other than family/spouse/etc.) I love it here and I find that everyone helps each other out, the professors and attendings are always willing to help or take time out of their schedule to answer questions and stuff. I like it here very much.
