Do we need scrubs at all for anything first year??

There are a couple labs during spring semester that scrubs are required for, but don't worry about trying to buy any just yet because each class actually gets to vote on a scrub color so everyone matches and it's easier to ID students in clinics. First years also have traditionally held a community dog wash once each semester that scrubs (any color) are needed for, but obviously that might not happen now

We don’t wear scrubs for anatomy lab?

We actually aren't allowed to wear scrubs unless a lab protocol says to, so for anatomy labs the requirements are full-length pants, closed-toe shoes, and a white lab coat. On that topic though, I would recommend having a couple of lab coats you can rotate through to wash them 🙂

Interesting. I knew about the lab coats ... but do they protect your clothing from getting gross?

None of my clothes ever got gross during anatomy lab - we use smaller specimens for dogs/cats and the large animals are already dissected for you.

If you're leaning on stuff, your sleeves will get wet though. I just wore short sleeves under my lab coat so I wouldn't get anything on them and washed my arms up to the elbows afterward.

The only lab that will have a lot of potential splatter is when you do a necropsy because they are fresh specimens, so they still have blood etc unlike the anatomy specimens which were specifically prepared for anatomy lab. Mostly you just need to watch your shoes in that one (some people wore their farm boots for easy cleaning).
