You got it! I have moved 10 places since April 1st, starting in the top 20 and now in the top 10. I asked this afternoon and received a response around 3:00 PM EST. You may have moved more since this morning! 🙂
 
Is anyone in the APVMA FB group? I saw from other chats that people are talking about whether or not they’re withdrawing their seats or not but you have to be a member to access the page.

Many people commenting that they are only pulling themselves off of the alternate list without specifying position. One person declining an OOS seat. I believe the post you are talking about is fairly old now, posted April 2nd.

I’m not sure how many applied, but from my understanding more than 50 (I swear somewhere I heard it was 100) MD students were waitlisted (which is ridiculous IMO, they’ve never even gone through a full list of 30 that they used to waitlist). Usually there are somewhere around 300ish that apply from MD.

This cycle is weird, with COVID being such a big variable, I don’t think anyone knows what to expect for waitlist movement... maybe that’s why they placed so many on it?

Yea, just a shame that they didn’t tell us our placings until April 1 either. I had been holding off making plans in hopes of getting into VMCVM (I was fairly high on the list last year) only to find out I did WAY worse this application cycle.

This is what I was thinking as well but then again they’ve had a whole cycle with COVID to predict the number of waitlist seats to have so I truly don’t know 😭

Yeah, it is. I’m still holding out hope that the IS-VA waitlist moves...it’s so strange that it hasn’t moved, I expected that I’d bump up one spot at least

Wow 300ish though .... thanks I guess it doesn’t really matter just depends who is applying each year.
 
Does anyone by any chance know how many OOS seats are left to be offered to the waitlist? I tried asking Shelby but got no response. Just curious if anyone knew! 🙂

I think yours may have gotten lost, I emailed on Sunday and got a response on Monday morning with my updated rank. However I did also ask if we would be notified when the class was full and Shelby just completely ignored that part of my email.

That’s interesting idk if they’re doing something different this year but them flat not answering anybody without sending a seated class email is odd...
 
Any seat that becomes available will be offered to the waitlist immediately. So technically there are no seats available for the waitlist right now because all of the seats have been offered. But the class can't be confirmed as full unless they have a yes answer from the pending offers, so... it's schroedinger's waitlist right now - there are still seats open in the class, but they could already be filled or not filled depending on if people say yes or no to the offers that they have.

Please keep in mind that academic affairs personnel have other responsibilities as well, and I know they are busy right now with other things going on in the college. They probably weren't in their offices as much as usual last week or this week (and maybe for the next 1-2 weeks on top of that). I doubt anyone is actively ignoring you or purposefully trying to dodge questions - if you haven't gotten a response to something, just follow up. There are hundreds of people on the waitlist, I'm sure some emails get inadvertently overlooked.
 
Just wanted to chime in. The MD waitlist had around 100 on it according to Shelby. They are also pretty busy with current students taking finals and such so that is causing her to be backed up. I emailed for my packet review and haven’t gotten a time yet so don’t worry, they are just pretty busy. Good luck to everyone who has been accepted or is waiting to hear! Make sure you utilize the file review option!
 
On April 1st I was #18. On April 19th I emailed Ms. Shelby and she said I was #10. But everyone is saying that between the 1st and the 19th the waitlist has moved 10 spots. And she just emailed me this morning saying that I am still number #10. But last week someone on SDN posted that they were #10 April 1st and got called. So I am just a little bit confused why I am not #8. If anyone has any advice/ideas that would be great. Thanks!

This is odd. You certainly should have moved more than that as my position is very close to yours and I have moved 10 places. Perhaps your position had already moved a couple places before you found out on April 1st. I found out my position early in the morning on April 1st. Did you find out later in the day?

I got an email at 12 pm central time so maybe that's why?
 
Does anybody know the phone number that they'll be calling from to offer a seat off the waitlist? I want it saved to my phone so I can know to answer while avoiding spam callers 😅
