Waitlist movement c/o 2020

Wow! That's an awesome answer to get, I'd just be happy with that for now! Seriously I wish I had some insight like that from Illinois or Florida! But from what I have been told, Kansas waitlist does move pretty swiftly.
I am on the waitlist at Kansas State University and email Dr. Elmore asking for a file review. He replied y saying "You are high on our alternate list and will likely get an offer from us after April 15 if this year is like previous years. Therefore, let's wait and see until then before exploring what you might do to become more competitive." Has anyone else waistlisted at KSU gotten this typr of response? Just tryng to gauge everything. I am planning on applying to KSU's MPH this summer if I dont hear anything shortly after April 15th. Please let me know what you guys have found out.

Congrats @Cmmore15! Sounds very promising. I talked to U of I, and they just reiterated that I was on the waitlist, so they can't give me feedback. Mizzou gave me no indication of where I was on there waitlist.

Yeah I called Illinois and they were like no sadly we can't give you any information! I called to verify they received my waitlist letter. Ugh the wait! I feel like if your not called off by end of April or beginning of may your chances dramatically decrease though. Am I right? I feel like for the most part people have committed to a school and wouldn't withdraw unless they got into their IS or their dream school at that point

@Ironvet Yeah I think most should be sent out by May, but I have seen on other waitlist threads that people got called in July! Obviously not as common, but it can happen. I feel like once it gets closer to the decision date, we should make a list of all the schools to see which ones are starting calls, like previous years did. It'd be more concise than just looking back through multiple pages.

Yeah, that's defiantly a better idea! I have spoken to some students at Illinois and IS who know more about the ins and outs of the vet school and supposedly the waitlist does move pretty well. However, with everyone being waitlisted after an interview if they are accepted that leaves at least 80 applicants on the list. That is a BIG number lol!

I assumed starting April 15th there'd be a new Waitlist Survivors c/o 2020 thread since the survivors threads have been where those lists are posted with school names and people post when they're called off

On the UGA OOS wait list! I will likely accept elsewhere before the deadline, but since it will be also OOS I will most likely stay on the UGA wait list. I am wondering if anyone knows how the UGA wait list typically moves. I have no idea if I would choose to go to Georgia instead if I got pulled with so many pros/cons for each, and I'm certainly not banking on getting pulled, but just wondering how likely it would be for me to get the option.

Ah, yeah that might be a little more concise

@Ironvet Yes, it's such a long waitlist, and I'm pretty sure in-state moves a lot less than out-of-state, so I'm a bit worried. Unfortunately there's not a lot I can do about it except wait.

I have no idea how well Mizzou's moves, but I'm pretty sure they pick their alternates instead of having all non-accepted interviewees as default alternates, and I'm OOS there, so maybe I'll have good luck there? Even though the woman in the admissions office that I talked to didn't exactly praise my application...

Does anyone know if you're picked off the alternate list at one school, if you can drop it if you hear from another? Not that I think I'll be called from Mizzou and Illinois, but I think I'd rather go to UIUC if that choice comes, and I don't think you can put your alternate decision on hold, they'd just move on.

I assume you would be asked to put a deposit down within a certain time frame so if you got called off UIUC's list after that, you'd forfeit the deposit

Usually they give you no more than 24 hours

Does anyone have info on movement of the KSU wait list over the last years? Or any other info about KSU's vet school wait list

K State has been hit or miss. Several years ago now, they went through their entire acceptance and wait list and dipped into the rejections. My first year on the wait list, it moved 25-35 spots. Not sure about last year, though.

Is anyone asking for a file review for schools they are waitlisted at?

I highly recommend! The file reviews are super helpful!

When I requested my file review last year, he did let me know it wasn't very likely I'd be called at that point. That was toward end of April, however. So you probably have a good chance since he knows the list better than anyone. My first year, it moved 25-35 spots.

Ah! I hope we both get in this year! Do you know anything more about Illinois OOS waitlist beside the fact it moves pretty well? I've been trying to find stats on amount of students it moves ect but no luck. I did creep on last years student doc thread like a weirdo and saw about 6 OOS on student doc got called off and 2 IS. OOS were called earlier than IS. But then again we can't really base much around SDN.

Yeah I think that sounds about right. Pretty sure if your called off waitlist your decision needs to be mad swiftly in order to give other students a shot of you decide to turn it down. I know you are able to withdraw your choice even after your deposit as well

Has anyone else talked to Purdue about file reviews? They told me they weren't offering them to alternates right now and to check back in June/July. That seems really late to me.

Me too! Honestly I don't know much about the waitlist except what I've found on sdn haha

I'm sooo impatient, I want to know now!
The crazy thing is next month isn't even the real "end" to it. It's just the most likely time to hear. Lol. If i don't get in next month or beginning of May I'm just gonna assume I will not be getting in this year and start my new application. (Gosh, I hope that doesn't happen)

I'm expecting to not get in, I think that makes the wait a bit easier. That being said, I do have a pretty good chance if things go as they have in the past.

Agh, I know, I've seen people on here getting called as late as July, which is crazy.
Yeah I'm probably going to message people about rec letters soon after the 15th. Most are the same as from last year, so hopefully they have theirs saved somewhere.

Yeah mine are the same too, probably change one out. Gotta hope my Teacher will still do it, that's the hardest one for me lol.

I'm thinking that way too so my heart doesn't re-break all over again (even though it probably will if I don't get in) just anxious to hear the final verdict I guess. What school are you waitlisted at and waiting for?

I just found out today that I'm #7 on the PennVet OOS waitlist. Does anyone know if they made it as far as 7 last year?
ah you're so lucky they tell you that! Goodluck, number 7 is sooo close!

I have a good friend who got called 3 weeks before school started. Someone dropped last min and she was next on the list. She had to live in a hotel for a while and barely had 2 weeks notice to give her job. Not to get any hopes up, but I suppose we really have no idea what may happen. But yes, not sure who I am going to ask for letters of rec this year. I moved states a year ago and a lot has changed. I was thinking I would start asking in June?

It just worries me about getting called so late for those reasons alone! Housing, jobs, even elective class sign up, finical aid. Like what happens in situations like that?

Anyone know if you are offered a spot off wait list whether they are able to give you an idea of how your loan package/financial aid package would look? like they do for original acceptances? Seems unlikely since there's such a short response period but just wondering

Haha yes I was shocked when she told me. I think she was too. I know it was very stressful for her to pack everything up- horse, dog, bunny included- and find accommodation. But she made it happen. I truly think things like that only happen when you don't expect them.
Once I start a new VMCAS app, I am going to assume a "no" and focus on my jobs and squeezing in more awesome experiences.

I am gunna get my master of public health application all but done and then turn it in early May... That way I can have aback up if I don't get called, at least then I will feel like I am moving in the direction of veterinary school. My husband and I are actually just moving to Kansas in the slight hope that I get in. This is the fourth year I have applied, 4 years to CSU and 1 year to KSU and this is the furthest I have made it so we are gunna concentrate efforts where we have seen some promise.

Lol that's how it always happens! When they are unexpected! I'm trying to be patient here as I am sure everyone else is but its defiently a hectic time! Which school was this that your friend got called so late at? I guess it's not that uncommon to get called late since I have seen on a few threads that it happens!

Well I wish is all the luck! I hope come mid April I get to see that we all got in

Has anyone waitlisted at Texas A&M heard anything?

I know of someone who was on the waitlist for OSU during a previous cycle and the person got an offer literally a week before classes started. The vet school was very helpful in finding a place to live and other things. Do not give up hope just yet everyone.

She got into Western in SoCal.

Does anyone know the furthest an IS wait list has ever moved? Just curious since it seems so unlikely to get movement.

Haven't seen much on here for VMRCVM about waitlists...hoping for the best over here. In the meantime I'm already planning to be ready to re-apply. I'm completing my masters in public health this spring as soon as my thesis is complete 😱 while simultaneously completing ochem, biochem, and physics...it's been a rough few months. Can't wait for it to be over and just think about moving forward!!!

What school(s) are you waiting on?

Just one. I only applied IS to MSU (Michigan). I am pretty far down the list though. So not too sure how to start improving my app.

You?

I'm waiting to here from in state: Florida and Illinois. Neither tell me where I am on waitlist. I called Florida while asking if they will tell me my rank and asked when they will begin packet reviews and she gave me a little one over the phone. Maybe you can try that with Michigan?

I'm waitlisted at OSU, I have my fingers crossed that I will get pulled. Trying not to panic.
OSU like Oregon state or Ohio state? I'm waitlisted as an OOS at Oregon and it's my #1! I hope I make it off!

There should only be a single waitlist. Their criteria for admission, once you are offered an interview, is based exclusively on how well you did on the interview. Your ranking on the waitlist is also based of your inteview score!

Also, if you look at the previous years' statistics, you can see the number of non-residents offers/acceptances vary a fair bit!
Do you think they have a single waitlist or an IS and OOS waitlist?

I know Oregon state has an instate waitlist and an out of state waitlist.

I'm waitlisted at Oregon state university! It's my top choice and I really hope I make it off that list this year!

Waitlisted at VMRCVM. Trying not to let the stress of living in limbo get to me. Already made an appointment with my local vet clinic to get shadowing hours. (I'm way heavy on the research experience, very little experience on the other side of vet things, unless owning 4 cats counts. I'm a champ at dosing cats!) Already know I need to retake the GRE to strengthen my quant score. I guess I have 2 questions:

Anyone know what the movement on VMRCVM's waitlist has been like historically?

Anybody else just trucking along like they have to reapply?

Yea I'm waitlisted at one school (my top choice. Oregon state) and got denied from 3. Got into SGU but think I'm going to hold out for my number 1 even if I have to re apply. Good news is I'm moving to Oregon so if I re apply next year I'll be a resident instead of an out of state student. They only accept 16 out of State students and over 800 people applied.

I'm hoping to be called off the Western alternate list! Do you know how she likes it there so far? With my luck, if I ever get called off, it'll be just before class starts!

Yep, I am IS and the debt is significantly less than my OOS acceptance.
Ah goodluck! where will you be attending if you don't get off the waitlist! It's good that you have another option!
