Is it common for waitlist movement to occur before the April 30 deadline?
I think some places but it's school specific
How my fellow TX waitlisters doing?
UTHSCSA and A&M
So Im deferred from one of my interviews and WL at another. Since I dont have an acceptance, would it be weird to send the deferred school a letter of intent/update? Right now I have it formatted as a letter of interest but I would 100% matriculate there over the WL school
back at it .. SDN friends. Here's to another week 😉

If they are open to communication and you would, as you say, 100% go there over the other, then I don’t see that it could hurt. Some schools want that kind of communication as well.

Waitlist at Sinai and continued consideration at Loyola.

WL at BUSM and UVA, still “under consideration” at IU (likely rejection at this point), and no acceptances. These are tought times... tought times
Have an upcoming interview at Seton Hall, and am very excited, but man, what I wouldn’t give to get off one of these waitlists. Good luck to everyone here, the next few weeks are gonna be great times for us!

IMHO I think it doesn't hurt (though others on SDN would say its pointless). Completely anecdotal but last cycle I sent a letter of interest and intent to two schools. While they didn't accept me, they give me earlier interview dates this cycle (mid february and late october to mid september). Only change in app was clinical experience, which I updated them on through out the cycle. So Im deferred from one of my interviews and WL at another. Anyone else know how much waitlist movement there is at Wayne State?

Did they mention anything about your updates? I heard that some schools dont really look at pre-II updates and I have sent schools many updates over the year. So I won't have anything "new" if they read my updates. But Ill have a lot if they didnt.IMHO I think it doesn't hurt (though others on SDN would say its pointless). Surprisingly, they did. Also ran out of stuff to updates months ago, so only sent a unofficial transcript for classes from last semester this time round.Did they mention anything about your updates? I know my interviews asked about my activities but I feel like they weren't seen at some schools cuz I had feedback that seemed to suggest that my updates didnt mean much cuz the activities weren't on my primary to begin with.Surprisingly, they did. on the bright side, next Monday is April 30th lololol
I’m going to have a crap ton of fun these next 4 weeks - going to universal studios/Harry Potter world, cinco de mayo partying, graduation parties, and a music festival. So this will all either be celebratory, or me just being in denial.
Fingers crossed!

Pretty much how I survived April. Hopefully I'm put out of my misery soon because my bank account can not afford another month of distractions.

Haha I'm worried my bank account can't take another round of applications
1 interview, 1 waitlist. Life is on hold. Cortisol levels through the roof.

As far as I know they have considerable waitlist movement. The updated MSAR shows that they waitlist 500 and accept 200. Acceptance tracker (granted idk when they last updated) shows that they've only sent out 349 acceptance offers which is way too little for their class size of ~300. So I would stay optimistic!

So, maybe there's approximately a 40% chance to get accepted from the waitlist? Is this number high for waitlist acceptance? I won't get my hopes up too high then. Thanks for the info!
Anyone care to check out the MSAR for Washington State University's waitlist procedure? I'd really appreciate it.

Not overly helpful, but here's what the MSAR says:
Waitlist Information
Typical number of waitlist positions per cycle
The number of positions vary each year.
Number of acceptance offers granted to applicants on the waitlist
Not Provided
Waitlist procedures and information
Applicants will be notified of their waitlist standing by the end of the interview season. Waitlist rankings will not be provided at any point.

What is this acceptance tracker?? I've just never heard of it
EDIT: I just did some research into this and found the admission tracker! It seems that it is up to the school on whether or not they want to make that information public. I have been finding them just on the specific school's website.

Wasn't getting nervous about waitlist movement until today... Waitlisted at my #1 choice in NC, and I know they have minimal WL movement but still holding out hope!
Does anyone have the MSAR waitlist info for the University of Arizona - Tucson? I'd greatly appreciate it!
BOOM:
Waitlist Information
Typical number of waitlist positions per cycle
Varies, 35-50 typically
Number of acceptance offers granted to applicants on the waitlist
25
Waitlist procedures and information
Notification via email and phone call with 5 day maximum to accept or decline offer.
It should be noted that going to MSAR.com will NOT result in finding the MSAR. Nope. That's not the right website...
Isnt it a gun website? I feel like ive done it a million times

yep - and it autofills when I type in MSAR, so now it seems like I always get that site first.

FYI. If you're using chrome or firefox, you can use shift+delete to remove the suggested autofill entry. You can find several tutorials/info posts online if you need help.

thank you so much! I was honestly expecting a higher number of waitlist positions per cycle. The number of acceptance offers granted to waitlistees; is this info from 2016, an average count, or a set number?BOOM:

No idea where they got the numbers - looks like there’s a good possibility for getting off.

Hi friends, does anyone have the MSAR information about Pitt's WL movement? I heard in previous years that it is pretty favorable to WL movement.. Thanks 🙂
Hi there, I recognize you from the Pitt thread! Here is what's posted on MSAR although it looks like they got rid of the 2-tier WL system.Hi friends, does anyone have the MSAR information about Pitt's WL movement? I heard in previous years that it is pretty favorable to WL movement.. Thanks 🙂
Typical number of waitlist positions per cycle
Varies

Applicants placed on a 2-tier waitlist depending on Committee ranking. Applicants taken off waitlist as seats in class become available.
I just want to say, that I can't promise you guys will all become doctors because the world is a cruel and unfair place. But being a re-applicant and lurker on SDN, it's always made me feel better that other people are able to vent about similar issues that I myself am going through.
So complain and vent away!! We are all here because we need support, and it's ok to cry and lean on others when you need it.
