Haha I really hope so! I'm pretty calm so far. I've experienced rejection twice already so it's not really a big deal to me anymore. I am still preparing like crazy though! I think I have their interview formula down now.

Question - they're always saying that even if you're dead last In grades, you're interview can get you a spot. Obviously this is true if you have a stellar interview, but does anyone know how often this actually happens? Being in the second round, I can't help but thinking May be the very last in grade rankings!

Any other second rounders out there??
 
I know of someone who ranked in the top 3 for grades and was rejected. If that can happen, I assume the opposite could happen.

It totally depends on the applicant pool that year, and the panel too. A friend of mine was one of those people; she literally just made interview cutoff, had a second round and got in. She's in the year above me. I'm not really sure about any that might have happened that way in my class, but still,she's proof that it can definitely happen. That is reassuring! I always assume they just say that not to get you too discouraged, but it's good to know it's very much possible!

I am new to this forum, but I got an interview on May 28 (from BC). This is my 4th year applying, but 1st interview. My GPA is about 80% (if that interests anyone...). I have been studying practice questions by talking to my pet, myself and my boyfriend. I am starting to panic a little bit, because I have worked so hard, I don't want to blow my shot. I have talked to some of my vet friends about potential questions, but most of them graduated a while ago. Does anyone have any idea about current interview questions (I'm surprised no one has asked this yet?)...

When you go to your interview you sign an agreement saying that you won't disclose interview questions to anyone. This keeps it fair for all applicants. That's likely why you won't see any current interview questions being talked about. I've never interviewed at WCVM but I've heard it's a lot more personal than UCVM which has more situational and ethically based questions.

I've been through both and I'd say that's accurate. It seemed like at WCVM they ask you things related to your application to expand on that and get a better picture of who you are, what your thoughts and opinions are on various topics, etc.

Good luck on your interview! Just keep practicing, I found it really helped for on interview day 👍
Also, I ran through two practice questions on the morning of my interview as I was getting ready and found that it really loosened me up and helped with my nervousness. Plus it got my head in the game.
 
Hey everybody!

How do you think you did on your interviews?! I think WCVM is done now! Mine was yesterday. I am glad it is over...now it is just a waiting game! They said we should know next Wednesday/Thursday!
 
That's fast! Fingers crossed for you guys.
 
I've been a basket case lately, just getting so anxious with this waiting game. Wait's almost over though!
 
Me too Cracker.Jack! I'm starting to think the last people standing after all the stress are the ones who get in by default 😛
 
Seems about right. I remember my boyfriend scraping me off the ceiling in early June. Haha.
 
Yup. The UCVM website says first two weeks of June, but when I was down there for my interview one of the staff (I forget who) said we should most likely know by the end of the first week.
 
Just got my notification that my decision letter from WCVM is up (answer is not a surprise since they didn't interview me). Shouldn't be long now for UCVM! Eep!
 
I got into WCVM from BC today! 😀

Is wcvm you too dls?! I guess I'll meet you in August!

Oh my gosh, congrats!!!!! Knew we'd be seeing you sooner or later! It's funny, I was thinking today that this year's applicants should know soon & how a year ago I was in your shoes waiting & then thrilled to get that beautiful letter. Enjoy the excitement - if you're anything like me, before you know it, some days will seem like hell & you'll wonder why you're putting yourself through it…but other days you'll walk through the halls with pride, you'll remember how lucky you are to be there & it'll feel like home. Congrats to everyone else who got in!
 
Thanks everyone! Definitely hasn't really sunk in yet but it feels great! Anyone else hear anything?! I'm shocked WCVM beat UCVM to it this year haha.

And thanks @Escalla , not gonna lie I'm a bit of a stressball right now lol Does anyone else keep checking myUofC hoping that symbol has changed from the triangle to the checkmark, and maybe they just haven't gotten down the whole phone list/finished sending the emails yet? I know I'm being kind of pathetic, but what can I say, I just want to know 😛

got my decision letter today from WCVM and its a good response!!! its a tough decision between WCVM and Edinburgh but I have decided on going to WCVM! 🙂 Congrats everyone and hope to see you in August!!
Loving the extra later start date as well 🙂! 25th seems to be leaning more towards September and with the labour day weekend, it basically feels like we get such a deal !!!
well done to everyone who has come so far and for those who were unsuccessful this round, never give up!!! All of us are in this together and we are rooting for you!! 🙂 🙂
 
Wow! Yay! There's lots of you this time around!!!
I'm going to throw this out there for anyone who is interested... I've set up a team for Tough Mudder in Drumheller. It's on Sept 6. Phone just rang and my heart nearly jumped out of my mouth... it was work asking if I can come in tomorrow 😛
 
Hi there, I'm new to the forum also, but have been creeping for a while! I'm waiting for a call from the UCVM also! Do you think they'd split up the calls between today and tomorrow? I mean, the Dean did start calling at 6:30 tonight!! :shrug:
 
I'm wondering the same thing @vet_time_bdd . I'm sure the calls are short, but that still makes it pretty late by the time he'd get to the 30th one.
